Yodawgs, I herd certain individuals are going to piss off the world by passing this bill, which will hurt the internets lots if it is indeed passed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative/Learn_more

This is outrageous. Truly truly outrageous. And most importantly, if it is passed, Zettalux will not be able to obtain ponies.

But Zettalux, how can we save your awesomeness and the ponies?

Oppose the bills, my minions. Contact (whoeveritisyouneedto) and tell them "NO, I will not give up Zettalux and the ponies for yo [sherbet]." Oh and also, by this bill passing, only Hollywood and them big publishing companies will benifit (hence, why only big Hollywood companies and big video game companies (like EA and Activision) support these bills). Basically, if the bills are passed, our society will be stuck with crappy overrated Hollywood movies and Call of Duty, all day erryday.

Kill it with FIRRE!!!!

*ehem*

Yeah - apart from the part about Zettalux and ponies - it's outrageous. Outrageous that they would even consider this.
One little question - would this affect Spiral Knights in any way? I just play this game for fun and if SOPA take the fun away then Jamoo ANGRY

I'm getting off-topic here aren't I.

Here's some more information that may apply to this subject:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act

Another 'little threat' that is arising is the PIPA act:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PIPA

But that's an entire different subject.

No, I don't think Spiral Knights will be affected in any way, really. As long as the game doesn't infringe any copyrights, which I don't think it does.

The biggest hit will be youtube, in my opinion. The site itself isn't the target since it isn't held responsible for what the users upload, but upon the passing of this bill, the government basically will have the right to control that very thing. If someone uploads what the government can claim is copyright, the government can proceed to not only take down but charge the user. Yeah, we're talking about 50% of youtube videos, though. And this is just one site that'll be effected; twitter, tumblr and even facebook are subject to this.

>Yeah - apart from the part about Zettalux and ponies - it's outrageous.

Whatareyoutalking about, that IS outrageous.

Now that's bad. Youtube is

Now that's bad. Youtube is famous not only for it's reputation but also for the amount of copyright infringements that have taken place on Youtube.

Take away Youtube?

You've got a mass riot on your hands. If SOPA had any thoughts going on in their heads - they'd withdraw this silly thing.

And ponies is NOT relevant or outrageous during this crisis.

Don't even think about saying that ponies are the crisis.

The people who wrote SOPA

The people who wrote SOPA have no idea what they're asking for. These are old guys in their 50's who don't know how the internet works. All they see is "lolinternet = piracy," but they know that if they pass it, THEY'LL be the ones who benifit. They get their control, big corporations get their profits while indie/smaller companies (even Valve) lose the small voice they have. They'll be drowned out by "legitimate" advertisements of the new Cock of Dooty game or the next Michael Bay film.

Ponies are ALWAYS relevant, bro.

Ponies. No. Exactly! Large

Ponies. No.

Exactly! Large companies will benefit - and small ones will be crushed! Isn't that a familiar experience.
All those companies with low-employee count (E.g. Wikipedia) have to be pushed down further and further.
Even the large companies though (Youtube, Google, etc.) will be completely flattened in this Stop Online Privacy Act.
And also -
' These are old guys in their 50's who don't know how the internet works. All they see is "lolinternet = piracy,"'
They know exactly how the internet works - this is the reason why they are putting the bill into legislation.
They know more about the internet than we youngsters could possibly know.
So if this comes into place - the internet throughout the United States and Europe will be under control like the North Korean Internet.

Something that I've always

Something that I've always wondered: how will this stop piracy? The pirates can just create more websites.

Any forums, which may include

Any forums, which may include SpiralKnights forums, could be affected if people post copyrighted content.

I'm all for anti-piracy, but the way this bill would be implemented is ridiculous. It's more like the "piracy" part of the bill is the cover-up for what these media companies really want.

RAAAGE

Well the way I see it is the bill would be ok if it wasn't written by complete dumb**** >.> the bill was written wrongly and the makers are 50 year old men like Zettalux said. I think if everyone works together(everyone as the whole WORLD WIDE WEB) we can put this bill away and never make it show its face again unless in a way that cannot harm us, smaller companies and the big companies like Google, Youtube Facebook ect. We can put an end to this SOPA and PIPA crap. The piracy is illegal and that should be stopped but everything else is crap.

The websites you mentioned

The websites you mentioned (Google, Youtube, Facebook) are all fighting to stop the SOPA and PIPA bills coming into legislation. No-one can know what the U.S. congress are deciding on - but let's hope for the best.

When all is said and done -the fate of the internet is now in the hands of the Government.

Believe that it will not happen - and it may not happen. But who knows what will happen.

We have nothing, if not belief.

Thank you for reviving the SOPA topic, but I already made one long ago. :D

Honestly, SOPA is already wounded, but PIPA remains. PIPA is another enemy.

SOPA is sappin' mah ponies! D:

Of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE WORST POSSIBLE THING!
I suggest we herd all who support SOPA and banish them to the moon.

If SOPA goes through there will be zero creativity, no free speech, the system can be over-abused etc. (I think all the other points have been covered)
Most importantly the internet will be a very boring place without MLP:FiM, Equestria Daily and the fandom (actually pretty much all internet fandoms and groups will get pretty hit hard). I love the show and the brony fandom and it would such a shame to see such a creative fanbase of musicians and artists vanish from the internet.
WHERE WILL I GET MY DOSE OF PONY?!

I think SOPA could affect Spiral Knights, for example if someone posts a link on the forum which contains content that infringes copyright.

Also check this video as it explains SOPA in a easy to understand manner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhwuXNv8fJM
