Can anyone tell me about the Core?

So I've heard it's actually a shady topic, but is that elevator at the Core ever supposed to open up? I heard it was once open but closed up and now you supposedly need to insert minerals to open it.
P.S. If it legit is bad to talk about it I'd appreciate if the mods didn't hurt me...

ATM the core is just a terminal with some lore behind it. The mineral thing was on beta, i suppose. The Path Is Sealed now, no matter what you do. You can just get some lore info from the npcs and get the elevator, which can only lead to haven.

I think inside the core is highly compressed, fused, extremely dense, but very great BALL OF LAG. See how it shreds your Java (I get like 6fps myself when I'm there). Imagine how bad it will be if it's opened! Don't do it!

So if the Core radiates
So if the Core radiates energy, and the Core contains pure lag... Then energy is lag?
...wait. You might be on to something. If elevators are powered by lag, no wonder levels take so long to load. And the IMF must need MAJOR amounts of energy to power all those shock plates and lasers. No WONDER the IMF is so laggy, what with all that energy consumption.
