Yes, OOO works for Sega. Yes, Sonic is fun and blue and we should all pay money at the mere sight of him on a cereal box. But please, I do not like sonic, and I'd like this game to remain separate from the sonic fandom. TF2 does many things right, but haphazardly tossing bad looking art into the game at the mere thought of a promotion is not one of them.

Now I know at least a few of the people who are reading this are probably thinking something like "OH NO! HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE SONIC!?!??!" and I think that Yahtzee explains it better than I can. This does contain a bit of mildly strong language, but nothing too incredibly bad-

So please do not make any more sonic promotions. If you call off the current promotion, I will personally donate cash to you. For free. I won't even ask for energy. JUST so I don't have to look at sonic crap. I'll even build you a statue of Boswick(provided that I can get an image, otherwise it will be of his knight) out of wire and mail it to you. Seriously.

EDIT: Oh, and thank you for making a new model of some kind... even if it is sonic. I appreciate it, and do actually value what you at OOO do.

A) You'll find a lot more people who like it or are simply uncaring either way than you will against it
B) Using Yahztee in any serious argument makes you look silly. He's openly admitted to being a joke personality, and even if he hadn't his opinion holds no more water than anyone elses does.
C) You're seriously complaining about an entirely optional costume item just because you don't like the franchise it's ascoiated with. Not something that could meaningfully impact the game like Shadow Lairs, or Accessories, or whatever, you're complaing about a piece of costume gear.

Although a bit of an exaggeration, it is serious, and Sonic is one of the series that I just loathe... And I'd really like to not have that merged with SK. I'd also like for SK to not become like TF2... with all of the promotional crap. And while Yahtzee might be a bit of a joke, and that his opinions might be just as good as anyone elses, they are about the same as my own, so in this case I think the example holds just fine.

As far as Sonic crossovers, I'll repeat some of what I said in another thread:
I'm a fan of crossovers in general, more than I am a fan of Sonic per se.
So long as they keep this a SK world with Sonic things (instead of vice versa) then I have no problem with it.

A Green Hill zone for Beasts and a Casino Zone for Gremlins/Fiends could actually work pretty well.
I think 'His World' Instrumental could make for an epic boss song in Spiral Knights.
The key would be making sure everything is more SK than Sonic.
A Sonic-inspired boss fight where everyone has to use Strike Booster shields to run & dodge
instead of hack & slash would be interesting.

Not in that regard, Duke. In the regard of badly made costume items that are submitted directly from other games, despite not fitting in at all. The trading is fine, and I don't really mind that... and I'd be very very angry if I encountered a green hill zone level... though I probably wouldn't mind a boss battle with strikers, as long as it isn't sonic themed, and is somewhat original.

Well,

The tails tails model I am actually impressed with, but it still doesn't fit the game quite right. The metal sonic gear is just recolored blargh that needs a bit more effort in the model used, and IMO just looks awful.... though my real problem is that I don't like the Sonic series. Perhaps we should ask "Do you think that the sonic series is terrible?" in the poll feature.

I mean, since the release of the game (which was...what, few days ago at most?) they've had a single promotion (technically two if you count the tails, but they're meant to be running one in game promotion, one for buyin' the game itself, w/e) and you're /already/ bitchin' about it?

If they've had like five different promotions nonstop and your news feed is gettin' flooded, sure I'd get you gettin' sick of it but..

They've had ONE and you're whinin' that you're sick of it? Get a grip. People will buy it whether you like it or not, then the next promotion will come out and everyone will forget about it, you'll see them hover around as much as the plasmetech armour or stranger hats.

Still, it's not the most outlandish crossover; the Sonic armour looks more like most SK metallics than it actually looks like Sonic and the tails....well, we have wolver tails, get over it. It fits in iwth SKs style pretty nicely, and it's one promo promoting a new game from the owning company so...

Uhm...

Less QQ, more stfu.

I can think of a few reasons...

To have these promotions. All of which, I believe, that I don't mind.

First, and the best reason, is that promotions generally "pump" more CE into the market. Now that CE is getting at 7k/100, I'm PERFECTLY fine with people spending money to get these costumes, while getting CE. The only problem is that people may buy the armor from Boost (costing CE), or sell CE in order to buy Tails Tails off the auction house. But selling CE is fine, lowers the prices. The armor sold by Boost is the only *real* problem with this promotion.

Secondly, it is by SEGA, and that's really their #1 series. What SEGA does is SEGA's business. Although I must admit the Sonic Armor Gear could be a little better, the Tails Tails/Sonic Helmet looks fairly decent.

Finally, you'll probably find that more people *like* the look of the armor, and the implications it has, whether for nostalgia purposes or otherwise, is something that people find attracting.

So, you're basically complaining that the game is made by SEGA and that they have the right to use their own content in a different game.

I am a big fan of Sonic (Squealed when I saw the promotion) they ARE linked to Sega in some way... Anyway I wanted to mention that if you want the 19.95 Energy pack, but don't want the Sonic set sell it on the Auction House you'll get over 100k. But one thing I do agree on is that the Sonic set is terribly made, I mean look closely at the helmet part you can see it's made partly of a recolored Cobalt Helm as for the armor it resembles Spiral Culet slightly... Anyway for Sonic fans its EPIC! For people who don't like it wait till the promotions over...Simple problem solved. Also Sonic is Sega's mascot. Makes sense to have them promote it in some way. I think I've said too much junk....

-Its by OOO, which was inducted into SEGA, yes I know they were partners in the beginning, but that doesn't stop the fact that OOO made SK, and that SEGA is just kind of there to profit off of it, and own stuff. -As you almost immediately stated, they are on sale at Boost. Key word here, Boost. Not as featured auctions. Yes, they provide some motivation toward buying ce, but this is greatly outdone by the fact that people buying the tails pack, or any other non-sonicy pack for that matter are likely to go and directly spend it to attain more bad looking Sonic armor.

Entirely your opinion, not an objective fact and hardly grounds for a compaint (Which obviously the company won't agree with you) to justify removing cross over promotions. Your other points about wanting SK to remain it's own thingsa nd avoid turning into a promo fest are fine (Even if SK arguably already did a while ago) but taking issue with this particuarly just because you don't like Sonic is obnoxious and hypocritical. Like I said, it's been a single promotion, and it's a linked promotion at least, it is Sega, it's not like they're bringin' in GoW3 Locust costumes or somethin' (....mind you e.e...) and the armour does fit in. It's a recolour with some permanant accessories and a bit of reshaping? Who cares? That MAKES it stay stylised. If they just made it from scratch it could have come off totally horrible, and it's not as if you're actually paying (lol@the people who actually did buy the game JUST for the costume then complain they hate the game) for a fresh new model, it's a free promotional gift, so why should they make entirely brand new models for them all (which does take time and money, btw).

It works, doesn't it? Sex sells too, should companies just stop doin' that? If nostalgia sales didn't work, they wouldn't have got away with it for so long already, so you're just complainin' that other people like a franchise you don't.

However, I do agree that I don't want this to be the start of some monthly promotional crossovers plan where we get costumes for every SEGA character that every lived. Having the odd crossover here and there floating around is nice just for that MMO vibe (that every MMO just gotta have), but there is a very small limit before it starts to irk the more rational people than yourself; generally speaking I'd like to see more sets specifically designed for SK and let other games take their ideas....like Spiral Sallet in TF2! :D

-Actually, it would depend on the franchise that I "liked", if it was from some indie game that actually needed the help (regardless of whether I liked it), then I'd be ok with it as long as it fit in.

-The only games I play are this, minecraft, and a few other titles, none of which I would like to see put into spiral knights. So no. Its not just about me not liking sonic.

-I'm just pointing out that I REALLY do not like sonic, and that is why I care so much. Its like, rather than starting the bad promotions with small games that deserve it, they've jumped right to the point of corporate waste.

It's not disgusting at all. beating people down is enforcing things, shovin' it down your throats, not giving other options, ultimatums, blackmails, threats etc; that's disgusting.

Selling nostalgia is the exact same as using sex for sales; you just put it out there, and people can perfectly well ignore it if they so choose. If they have no interest, such as yourself, then they'll just leave it and ignore it. Whereas if it was the same as"beating into submission", the game would be forcing you to buy it to advance in the game: "wear the sonic mask while you kill vana and get the supermega 6* everythingkiller!" for example.

It's just a sale for nostalgia. People like it, so people buy it.

I mean, I agree with you. I think they've milked it far, far too much, but there's obviously SOME people who like it, otherwise it would have just failed by now.
The reason I'm likin' the look of SCD is becasue (from the trailer at least, I'm yet to play it; have been busy on SK D: ) it's a remaster from the original games, which are inarguably classics, that everyone frmo that time loved. The 3D sonic games I don't much like, but the originals were all great; so introducing a remaster of that (at a cheap, reasonable price I might add, it's not as if they're tryin' to flog it at full market price) and adding crossover promotions isnae so bad.

I think I went on a tangent or two there, I kinda lost myself...did my point get across at least!? D:

But seriously. Don't worry - you won't be seeing so many Sonic-Knights soon. It's just temporary fashion. How often do you see knights wearing costumes from previous promo/events? Like Plasmatech Demo Suit or Halloween Masks, or even Rose Regalia? Soon we will be wearing Cupid's wings (or helms made of chocolate), then leprechauns hats (or helms made of pots), then bunny ears (or helms made of painted eggshells) and so on.

So, basically you don't like Sonic, uses Yahtzee (of all people) to show how you don't like Sonic, and you don't want more Sonic references just because of it. Great... except it doesn't make sense.
If it's not canon, if it's not destroying the concept of the game (I mean, it's just a simple costume, not the end of the world as we know it), if you aren't forced to use it, then why not... ignore it?
Also, some people are enjoying it, so what is the problem?

I'm ok with Sonic references, and any other references (like TF2). It's a good idea when done correctly (not forced, not canon, etc).

I see what you are getting at. However, OOO does these promos to get some money, even through commercializing. I could agree that there shouldn't be any more Sonic added, but the armor would most likely be reintroduced again and again. NO KNUCKLES COSTUME. SK will no doubt get more promos. HOwever, like you said, new models do nicely, but most have to fit in the game at atleast. And I myself don't want other games to be shoved into this one. However Bomberman was kind of funny....

I am aware that Sega is connected to it all, but keep this game this game.

No more promotions period of other games regardless of who made it: focus on making this game better - trust me, there are a lot of unread improvements that could be done as well as improvements the devs have thought of but not yet implemented.

0 and 1 star items do not count and are not one of them.

See first, I'd release a badge/accessory that resembles a stylized Wolver head, deal? Except it looks like a medallion worn around the Knight's neck.

Then on November 10 in honor of Sesame Street's anniversary there will be a costume armor that resembles the sort of striped shirts Ernie tends to wear, and I'll make the above badge compatible with it.

And we already have really thick glasses as accessories already

I'm sure if you wanted to you could just swap the sonic costume files for the cobalt armour model files and then anyone wearing sonic costume would immediatly appear as cobalt armour toting players. Simple solution.

Just gonna say this is the wrong forum

Sega associated game gets a little money now and again for doing promos.
Yes, I'd love to see SK remain SK but a simple promo or two every other month/year isn't gonna kill me.
Some people wanna look like sonic, some people want some armor that shows that they enjoy other games too.
But in the end, the suggestions that A: Sonic should die B: Promos like this shouldn't be around and C: SK should remain entirely SK are all suggestions that I either laugh at or disagree with (note that both are different, one's being a realist and the other is disagreement by opinion. A I disagree with B and C I laugh)
If OOO wants to do a promo once or twice every once in a long while, I can live with it. Makes OOO money for whatever they want and gets us more levels and SK content. (Why do you think they do promos at all? Ain' like OOO is swimming in cash)
Meanwhile, move this to general forums. It's become more of a discussion thread than a suggestions thread.
