I had already been wondering if a Striker shield that allows you to dash like in Lockdown could ever work in PvE...
(main game)

Now that the Metal Sonic suit is out and people are sad they can't use the costume to dash around in Lockdown (can't use costumes there),
I figure Three Rings/Sega have strong reason to consider the Striker dash/shield for PvE.

Strike Booster shield

Dash just like Lockdown
CANNOT SHIELD BLOCK
-Health penalty remains

(I'm uncertain whether to keep the ASI and Damage boosts, and bomb charge penalty aspect.)
---------------------------------------------

That is my suggestion. The exact specifics, such as HOW you get it (rare drop? boss tokens? shadow lair?) and what * quality / Heart penalty are all up for debate. I figure either it starts as 3* and upgrades to 5* or it exists only as some 5* boss reward.
Also, if it's 3*-5* naturally the amount you can dash would increase, probably with 5* being the full LD equivalent, 3-4* being less.

If the ASI and Damage boosts were included, I'd say only as 4* and 5* versions. Such as the 4* has Low boosts and the 5* has Medium. Anything like a 3* version would not have the ASI and damage.

Please make this thread about whether the concept could ever be balanced for PvE, details can be hashed out separately by OOO.

lag and dash into fire

lag and dash into fire
dash into gun puppy spray
dash into an attack
dash into spikes
dash race metagame
dashing through the snow
dashing in shadow lairs, get kicked for dying

for the sacrifice of BLOCKING, they should at least humor these silly people with an asi and dmg increase

Then don't use it.

If someone is really lagging there's no reason why they can't already lag and walk into fire.

I remember we went thought

I remember we went through this a very long time ago, but it was on the subject of dual-wielding.

The aspect of not being able to block is too much of a sacrifice, and the community looked at the idea as a gimmick.

Extra damage =/= Extra mobility

I'll grant you that I can't see this idea as necessary but utterly refuse to compare an extra sword to an item that lets you outrun anything in the game....

Off the top of my head, I could see this item be incredibly useful for avoiding Greaver rushes.
It'd be up to the players to discover it's full PvE potential but I see no reason to be so dismissive of the idea.

it would definitely open

it would definitely open things up for the players with ADD

with shield-cancelling it will practically be gunz online

If we're on the topic of bringing LD shields to PvE, I suggest that the shields be rewards for outstanding PvP achievements in the future. Perhaps a reward for a tournament, or class-based leaderboards with specific requirements to get on them (maybe just the special materials for the shields, not the shields themselves).

I would definitely approve of a guardian shield with decreased movement penalty

If you mean to add a Guardian shield without the healing properties, it could happen.
Please stay on topic of my thread and the Strike booster, though.

Really, the point of striker is to easily dominate the map and quickly go between points and overcome players with speed.

It would be overkill against super slow zombies now after that update that made them stupid sicne they cant turn around and attack, althought I would like to see you trying to use it in any undead themed level like the Cadaverous Clash arena or Concrete Jungle where the empty space to maneuver equals to zero.

Also there are times were you just need a shield not only for defense but for bumping.

So... you are pointing pluses and minuses of having the Strike Booster Shield. That sounds balanced to me.
Where exactly do you stand on it being added to PvE? You didn't say.

Also, players can already shield bump when their shield is broken, I imagine the Strike Booster would be the same.
You wouldn't be able to block, is all.
