So im playing SK on a macbook through steam

When I try to open steam I get an error message saying something is either wrong with my connection and/or go to www.steampowered.com and troubleshoot my issues with them... Clearly my internet is working and I was on this game nearly 1-2 hours ago.... anyone else getting a similar message? can anyone give any suggestions? i cannot even log onto steam anymore without getting this message... is steam down??? HELP :)

This could be due to a problem with your internet connection, or with the steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info.

This is the message im getting... exactly...
Not sure what I can do to fix it... have attempted to re-install steam etc etc... aswell as restart my cpu... not working... please help :-)
