Foreward:
I doubt this'll be considered. The name is too deeply ingrained in the playerbase's psyche at this point to suffer a name change. I just wanna see if I'm the only one that thinks this idea isn't completely dumb.

If you ask me, OOO did a terrible job with the choice of name of the head of guilds. Guild Master. That is, GM. You know, the same acronym used by OOO to designate its employees? Yeah, not a smart idea.

Sure, yeah, you can try to glean context of how its used or specify what ya mean, but really, you shouldn't have to. Acronyms are supposed to be clear, not confusing, and certainly not conflicting. So, why not just change what guilds are called? Since we're (assumedly militaristic) knights, I would think it would make sense to call them companies or platoons instead, and designate positions in guilds as specific ranks.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot. Probably that.

Whether or not it's called a guild or a banana is irrelevant, seeing as either way it serves the same purpose. Being able to customize the various rank titles on a per-guild/per-banana basis would probably be a more welcoming idea to a lot of players (Personally, if I saw the word Platoon I'd never join a guild or banana ever again.). I'd be really surprised if this hasn't been suggested in one form or another already, though.

If you want to get technical, I believe a Knight Order is more appropiate than Companies of knights.

But the word guild is like a universal name on the whole gaming industry and everyone understand it.
