Also note that buying the Metal Sonic costume by way of the Sonic CD steam purchase won't qualify your account for paid status either.
Any cash purchase done in the SK energy depot will get you paid status forever, though, including buying the standalone elevator pass or any of the energy bundles.
If you purchase the Tails Tails energy pack promo, then yes, your account will become a paid account. If you buy them through a trade, the Auction House or Boost, then no, it will not count as a purchase.
Once your account has been recognized as a paid account it will remain a paid account. The status does not expire.
