PLZ ANSWER MY QUESTION
When will Spiral Knights be Recruiting Game Masters and how would you become one
All caps, plz, and begging to be a GM are usually not things considered good attributes for a gm.
Which leads me to ask.... what exactly does a gm get/do? There must be an incentive, since so many people want to be one.
Being a GM must suck, despite you work at a game, you can't play it properly. You can't even wander around haven in peace.
I'm guessing the incentives are a) getting paid to "play" a game they like and b) wanting to have/having power over other players. That's all I can come up with, anyway.
I doubt it's a career scale job, if it pays at all. Some people will actually work for free if their ego gets a stroke or two.
SK would rather have a eleven year old then you as a GM, considering you aren't eleven.
I swear, when I find you...

now this is something I could get into. I wouldn't mind being a Gim at all...
WOW....I actually really do want to be a GM. I want that crowbar.
I'd have the crowbar, slime slasher, and....hatchet? armed. A regular Stranger hat and a magic robe.
I could be Lazarus. Dig, Lazarus! Dig!
Being a GM (Game Master) is a real-life, payed job that you have to apply and be interviewed for, I believe.
I don't think that:

PLZ ANSWER MY QUESTION
Will get you a job in OOO.
Now before you get like this at me
It's true :D
I guarantee you that no matter where you go, if you ask for Admin-like privileges like this, you will be declined 120% of the time.
Being a GM typically requires a full job interview - just like you would interview for any other job. They'll want to know what qualities and experience you have, what your flexibility is, and if you seem like a good fit for the role.
The posters above are generally right that asking to be a GM and the manner in which you do so may not get you taken seriously. : ) But if you really want to be one someday, a few tips - you never know when your next favorite online game might have an opening:
- Communication is key. Both written (for in-game) and in real life (if you get an interview). Upping your mastery of the English language will go a long way in helping you apply, and perhaps one day in helping others.
- Hone your skills! Host events, hold giveaways, and try to manage competitions that require quick-thinking and fast communication. Your first one might go terribly. Don't give up - keep practicing, keep trying, and you'll find that over time you develop some very useful skills, both as a prospective-GM and just generally in life. You won't grow unless you push yourself!
In any case, good luck to all those serious about trying to be a GM someday. The role and responsibilities tend to vary slightly per game, but as long as you go into it thinking of it as a job with some very nice perks (that is - you're working on a video game!) you should have a great time.
For those who think that being a GM means "yay, I get to play games all day and get awesome in-game weapons to play with and omg it's like everything I do now except 100x better", allow me to shatter your fantasy world.
Being a GM is like being a help-desk/tech-support monkey. Except that all your customer interactions are with whiny 12 year old kids and/or people who act like whiny 12 year old kids. And a significant amount of your time will be spent trying to babysit people who can't play well with others. And even more time will be spent dealing with people who are deliberately trying to break the game, either technically or socially.
Think of the most horrible, insufferable person you've met in the game (no, not just Chris). You'll be dealing with hundreds of people just like them for a solid 8 hour shift. And if you act in any way unprofessionally towards them, even the slightest bit impolite, you'll be hauled into your boss's office with a whole lot of explaining to do about why you shouldn't be fired on the spot.
Speaking of 8 hour shifts, you can expect to be doing them at odd hours too, since the game doesn't shut down overnight. You can kiss any sort of social life goodbye when you get stuck with the 2am-10am shift.
Now, that said, I'm sure OOO does their best to treat their GMs well. At least, I sure hope they do, because it's the second most thankless job in the entire gaming industry (the first most thankless: working at EA).
You explained my point, Nicoya. Thanks. But it wont stop the noobs of thinking its fun-shinyequips-beingawesome-paidjob ;/
...actually, I'm pretty sure I could deal with quite a bit of the shiz that would get flung at a GM.
Not to mention my name is pretty spiffy and sort of appropriate sounding anyway.
Also I suppose I could practise my mad competition holding skillz like this:
1) Find Darkfang Shield
2) Host massive competition with Darkfang Shield as prize
3) ???
4) PROFIT/AUREATE FOR GM 8D
Speaking of necro, been a while since I have seen Njthug's raise CE prices thread. I may go hunt it down and breathe a bit of life back into it.
Being a game master isn't that fun. It's a real job they really are like programmers that fix things! They only go in action When someone needs help and they aren't long doing it. It sounds cool to have the armor and weapons! But..... There getting paid for a job sooooooooooo I thin you don't want to be one unless you want a job.... Which I actually kind of want...
Question
What's the punishment if your under the age limit you get arrested ?
You don't get arrested. You get a temporal ban from the game.
Also... DON'T POST IN A THREAD THAT IS A YEAR OLD!!! <3
it does sounds interesting as a job. Helping people out with their bugs and problems seems nice and fun to me. I myself would like it as a job considering i play this game 24/7 it will be easy and a benefit to the players. I would take this responsibility whether it paid you or not.
I am making a new account named after the Greek God of wind Skirion.
To me what really matters is not the money, the weapons, abilities, or armor but what really matters is that the customer is satisfied with the game and with all of the patches put up.
Post your in real life info and I'll give you the "job"
are you talking to me about giving me the job?
Hi!
We're not actually hiring at the moment. When/if we are, information on how to apply will be posted on the jobs page on the Three Rings website as well as in the Announcements section on the forums. I recommend looking at our old hiring thread to see what kind of thing we're looking for.
The requirements are:
A good history
Knowledge about spiral knights
Good speech
And you need to be 18 years or older
You also require to have a Greek God, Titan, or an Elements name
Is that right?
The so infamous PLZ, so annoyingly repeated by noobs and beggars throughout all haven, comes to haunt me again... -.-
