Today i got annihilated in the Ironclaw Munition Factory, and thus i have been considering some anti Construct equipment. My desired equipment is:
An elemental damage gun (for Puppies)
A burst Brandish
Elemental armor (cloak, Hood)

Unfortunately i am rather unlucky with Fine Fabric acquisition, and i am too stingy and unlucky to use the auction house. Any suggestions?

is shock a problem?

In IMF, are you having trouble with shock as well? Or just with dealing and taking elemental damage? And keep in mind that you want normal protection, too.

The elemental sworder armor is Vog Cub. It's great for Firestorm Citadel, too, due to the fire protection. The elemental gunner armor is Nameless. All bomber armors are elemental. Another idea would be Grey Feather. Consider also Divine Veil. (The setup of Divine Veil with Skolver Coat suffices for the entire game, except Shadow Lairs.)

All three elemental Brandishes are great. Voltedge's charge attack is dangerous around quicksilvers, and Combuster's charge attack is dangerous around oilers. But you can easily avoid using charge on those swords in those situations.

For guns, your choices are Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Magma Driver, Hail Driver, and Polaris. Polaris offers huge knockback, which is sometimes useful, sometimes counterproductive, and often annoying. But turrets don't get knocked back, so Polaris against them is neither annoying nor counterproductive. That's why people recommend Polaris as a sidearm for a sworder to use against turrets. However, most serious gunners prefer Nova Driver or Storm Driver over Polaris.

Keep in mind that the gremlins in IMF resist elemental damage. So having all elemental weapons will slow you down against them.

The magic cloak/hood line is

The magic cloak/hood line is a fine set of armor, maybe a little less specialized than Vog, but defensively the same (or better even). It too has a number of 5* upgrade options, making it similarly versatile. Fine fabric shouldn't be very expensive, you can drop me a line in-game if I'm on. As Bopps mentions, there are a number of armors you can choose from.

The elemental Brandishes are fantastic, especially with the new charge (and they are available starting at 3*); if you are patient you can work on an Avenger, though it starts at 4*. If you have 3 or more weapon slots, you may wish devote one to an elemental sword, and a second to a shadow sword, as the Ironclaw Munitions Factory is also populated by quicksilvers and gremlins.

For guns, it is as Bopp says- you have alchemer lines, or Polaris. Nova driver if you want extra damage, Magma, Hail or Storm if you like one of the status effects in particular (my preference is Storm). Polaris might be a bit of a Catch-22 at this point because you need to run IMF to get the Pulsar in the first place, but it is a fine sidearm for a swordsman to deal with turrets. Just don't spam it with abandon. A third option is the Valiance. While it is not particularly effective on turrets, nor does it deal extra damage, at 5*, it has the unique property of causing a small amount of readily controllable knockback on normal hits. It also has a 3-shot clip, making it easier to handle than the 2-shot alchemers.

Shield

Shield... Get a shield that can withstand elemental attacks. I charged through the IMF so many times with a Gunslinger Hat, Poncho, and a Horned Owlite Shield. I used a Nightblade with anti-gremlin UV and a Prismatech Alchemer MK II

As tempting as it is, don't

As tempting as it is, don't go for family specific armour/weapons. They max out in damage fast, with other bonus stacks. And keep in mind family specific weapons only deal increased damage to one type of monster, with a lower baseline damage compared to weapons of the same type and tier.

For Brandishes I'd suggest

For Brandishes I'd suggest Glacius; freeze is something you can never go wrong with in IMF, considering what spawns there. It's also a status effect which won't power anything up (and if you want to charge quicksilvers for traitor clearance, then just shieldbump then; there's always shockpads around quicksilvers).

There's no useful family specific armour for IMF since it's mostly constructs, so just stick with either shock resistant armour or weapon boosters. There's plenty of choices around for that.

An alchemer/driver or polaris

Roarmulus is my favorite boss.

This is what I use for ICMF

Armor:
Merc helm
Chaos Cowl (has anti-shock uv)

This gives me piercing, normal, and elemental defense. If you'd like, get a magic coat for elemental, or a wolver+magic hood. That'd do the same thing (defend against normal+pierce+elemental), and it'd give damage to the sword.

Shield
Barborous thorn shield

So that I can buff my sword to really kill construct. Shields are more useful for pushing, so damage type doesn't matter to me so much. If you'd rather, get an owlite shield for actually blocking hits.

Weapons
Divine Avenger (Construct high)
Sentenza

DA will CRUSH things, especially with the charge, which is great for twins. Sentenza is a must have for switches, it gives full control, and kills gremlins, the one thing DA can't get to easily. If you'd rather not get all that, a brandish will do you justice for damaging constructs, and a shadowtech alchemer would also work (you want elemental AND shadow damage types, and you want the elemental to be on a sword, so that you can deal damage easily to the boss).

Also, use auction house. It has better deals on 2 and 3 star gear than crafting, and will benefit you greatly, as most gear is between 1-2K cr there (compared to 1K cr recipe+50 energy(3K CR)+mats), and you can easily buy decent UVs if you desire/save up.

You don't really need a gun

You don't really need a gun for the switches, most of them you can just stroll right up to.

Personally I take Glacius, Faust (sentenza won't do you any good against the dozens of quicksilvers) and Nova Driver, along with some variation of wolver gear+ BTS for sword buffing. In tier 1-2 I generally worry more about offense and less about defense. Otherwise I'd take the Quicksilver set and an Owlite.

(also Ironclaw is one word, not two)

@Batabii: Ironclaw is not a

@Batabii:
Ironclaw is not a word at all, it's actually two words that've been smooshed together to make one fictional word for the sake of the game. Quit bein' so picky towards the names of stuff.

Anyhow. Nova Driver in IMF? Does that work out well like? I mean ik it's elemental, but bein' an alchemer and all...or does the whole ricochet thing work nicely in the crowded rooms in there?

I don't see why nova driver

I don't see why nova driver should pose a problem, I mostly use it for the various gun puppies (especially in the section with all the missiles). It's also helpful for clearing out the bomb obstacles.

The few times I ran IMF, I

The few times I ran IMF, I brough my volt driver for the lulz. I was told to stay off the switches xD

It works well, although there really isn't big enough of crowds to increase the effectiveness of ricochets.

I would think the ricochets

I would think the ricochets might mess up the switches anyway.

You should get a wrench wand.

You should get a wrench wand. They have a Construct: High damage bonus.
Okay, all joking aside, you're going about this incorrectly. Ironclaws is not dangerous because
of constructs. The problem is
1) Elemental Damage. It's likely you will not resist this, seeing as 101% of players wear wolver.
2) Shock. Being unable to move every few seconds will get you killed.
For the most part, both of those things can be answered by the Owlite Shield.
A shield that resists both Shock and Elemental, and it even has Fire Resistance for FSC later.

Personally, for IMF I'd recommend getting an Iceburst Brandish. It's not as effective as
a mist bomb for freezing, but it will do the trick, and really, those quicksilvers will dice you up
good if you let them wander into a shock trap. It shouldn't be too expensive.
All in all, between the owlite shield and iceburst, you should not have to have problems
with getting close to monsters. Best of luck.

in Scourgething's defense

Blaze-Breaker: In Scourgething's defense, he (or she) already had most of that figured out in the original post. He was asking which elemental armor to get, and which Brandish to get, from the very start. He was not "going about this incorrectly".
