I've heard a few complaints so far from players who have been tricked by other players claiming to be Game Masters (GMs) (Not to be confused with Guild Masters, who wil have no impact on you whatsoever unless they're the Guild Master of your guild.)
SO, I'm writing this so hopefully, you can read it and avoid an incident like that.
Real Game Masters:
-Will have a guild titled "Three Rings"
-Will have a purple colored ring around their feet.
-Whenever they speak, their chat in the chat history will be colored purple, blue-ishly and have GM [Name here]:
For more info regarding Game Masters, visit the wiki page: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Gm
PRETENDERS:
-Will NOT have any of the above, yet claim to be a real GM.
Game Masters will NOT ask for any personal details (username, password, home adress, phone number etc,) whatsoever. Although they MAY ask for details of an event that had happened. They WON'T ask you for anything like cr, ce or materials, and will not threaten you with a ban for not complying with demands that don't make sense.
A player claiming to be a GM whilst missing the key indications is NOT a GM. Even if it IS a GM using a normal account, GM privileges are not carried on to their normal account. Also, a real GM using a normal account WILL NOT reveal [easily] that he/she is actually a GM.
If you encounter a player claiming to be a Game Master while not showing any of the indications, assume he/she is NOT a Game Master. If he/she persists in his/her claims of being a Game Master, report the player.
If the player was in fact a GM, there should be no trouble.
NOTE: If in doubt of which 'GM' the person is referring to him/herself as, ask whether he/she is a GAME Master or GUILD Master.
Though NEITHER would be threatening you with a ban for not doing him/her small favors (Not doing a specific run, giving him/her things etc)
However, you should not bend to the will of another player who claims to be a GM simply because you take his/her word for it.
For accessibility and coverage reasons, I'm copying this to General discussion.
I wonder why OOO is not trying to stick topics like that so they are more visible. Or they could make guides on their own (even if they would be same as player-made).
