Hello there,

finally got a Wolver cap and Horned owlite shield both with UV high curse resist, so i can finally use the faust charge without any worries of getting 2 weapons cursed. Well to bad the UV from the shield doesn't work at all...

I did some testing in the advance training halls with a Faust:

Wolver cap & Horned owlite shield both with high curse UV (theoretically 6 Resist points)-> 33 second curse duration, 2 vials cursed, 2 weapons cursed

Wolver cap with high curse UV (3 resist Points)-> 33 second curse duration, 2 vials cursed, 2 weapons cursed

Horned Owlite shield with high curse UV (theoretically 3 resist Points) -> 39 seconds curse duration, 3 vials cursed, 2 weapons cursed

No curse resist -> 39 seconds curse duration, 3 vials cursed, 2 weapons cursed

As you can see it doesn't matter if i equip the shield or not, its like the UV is nonexistant on the horned owlite shield.
I bought the shield with UV on the AH as an Owlite shield and upgraded it to Horned owlite shield with UV transfer... not sure if it was working in the base version as i haven't tested it then. Might upgrade the Wolver cap tomorrow to see if that bug might be influenced by that.
My Arsenal is rather small so i don't know if other shild resist UVshare the same fate.

Greetings,
Sausagecake

Shield stats work only when

Shield stats work only when shield is turned on. Or so, maybe thats the point

Kinda pointless to have the

Kinda pointless to have the uv available for shields then, unless its possible to get cursed with shields on oO

Yeah, it's a shield, it will protect a little against cursed attacks when you raise it but wont do anything if you get cursed.

The only monsters that curse

The only monsters that curse are Phantoms in graveyard levels, and everything that moves in Darkfire Vanaduke. Your shield will have improved defences against those monsters, in that it will take longer to break when being hit by curse-bearing attacks.

Geez and i thought they were

Geez and i thought they were called status resist for a reason and not shadow, elemental, poison defense if they reduce damage instead of preventing or reducing the status effects when you get hit (Ergo not blocked by the shield, because if it is blocked you can't get the status effect anyway so resists are useless when a shield is up).

If its considered additional defense on a shield, it shouldn't be called status resist like on the other armor parts... where the naming makes sense, because it really reduces the status duration (and the likelhood of getting the status effect?), whereas it doesn't on a shield. Instead it should be called special/additional/bonus defense fire, ice, shock, etc.

Well if it's not a bug, its working as intended....

Just the naming would be confusing on a shield as it got the same name (status resists) but a total different game mechanic from helm and armor.

Curse is a status.
Now your shield is better at resisting cursed atacks.

It's a resistance towards an attack imbued with a specific status. A Status Resit for short.

"Ergo not blocked by the shield, because if it is blocked you can't get the status effect anyway so resists are useless when a shield is up"
Two enemies of the same class, one has ice the other fire. With a fire resistance, guess who will break your shield faster.

"but a total different game mechanic from helm and armor."
Shields are already totally different to armor, thinking an UV would work the same way anyways was a cute mistake. You had owlite, didnt you notice you were still being burned and shocked with it?

If a plateshield (normal

If a plateshield (normal defense) has say, 100 health, and it gets hit by a normal damage attack that deals 40 damage and no effect it might take only 28 damage (because of normal resist) leaving 72 health left.

However, if it gets hit by an element it doesn't have a strength to, such as:
An attack that deals 30 dark damage, plus 10 curse damage, (like a strike from a phantom) it will take 40 damage in total, and be at 60 health.

But if your plateshield has a "Curse Resist: Normal UV" on it, the same strike:
Deals 30 dark damage, but now only 5 curse damage (because of curse resist) for a total of 35, so your shield has 65 health!

This shows why even if you walk over a poison vent, you still suffer damage. This isn't any type of damage except Poison. That's why you take so little damage from it, because it isn't a primary damage type. (same with other status vents but it isn't as obvious, say fire, you can't tell the difference between the initial ignition and the burning damage)
