Shadow Lair Passes?

Since there is going to be a release of the new missions content, have the devs thought of making shadow lair passes bought with IRL money like the elevator passes?

I think this seems like it would make sense, because once new content comes in, the old new content becomes usually either easier or easier to access in most games (Shadow Lairs would fall under easier to access, but we still make $$ profits from players) so players that either are new or could not access them would be able to get to see the game's content because it is not good to keep content away from people - especially if it is old

Though I am not exactly entirely meaining "kept away" from players, because if they wanted to they could farm out CE and then hopefully suceed all the time worrying about wasting a key and upset about the CE dropped. I am mostly meaning getting to actually enjoy the content

It is cool lookin but a lot of people don't find buying an expensive key to only begin progression worth it, the pass would let some people experience progression, and would make it more solo-friendly if we got a Shadow Lair Pass.

Just wondering though if this has been thought of :3 because the new content comes in, we want to get to enjoy the shadow lairs finally since they won't be top priority anymore.

Though if this does not happen that is fine... the missions will hopefully not also be kept away from me enjoying it :,(

If the Shadow Lair Pass type thing does not ever happen, could a dev confirm or someone confirm that the missions will be more majority-friendly? Otherwise that would be depressing T.T I need to be careful before I donate again

.......?

- Shadow lairs HAVE become easier due to monster nerfs
- Pass for Lair? i wonder how much thats ganna cost......I dont like that idea at all
- I don't know if you read the Development post carefully but it said there that the Missions will be available to ALL PLAYERS, and some will require you to go into clockworks, some dont. It seems very majority friendly to me.

Well how the shadow lair pass

Well how the shadow lair pass works, it isn't going to cost something like the current 10 bucks for like 3 tries, it would be more like 10 bucks for a week of shadow lairs free

The thing about it, though, is that if you have only say one out of four group members with a shadow lair pass, the key would be required.

You would have to have a full group of people with shadow lair passes so people cannot advertise for CE shadow lair runs.

And there is no con to that... if one person out of 4 has a shadow lair pass it does not change it AT ALL > you just have to have a key like before.

This way not only can we finally actually enjoy shadow lairs without the worry that I just wasted a key or some bug will happen etc, but that I can go in as I please: my money is not what bosses me around.

Anyways more importantly, do you have proof of them saying something like the cost of doing missions?

I would be a fool to get my hopes up for shadow keys 2.0, if anyone has confirmation please post below!

All players doesn't really work, because argually "all players" have availability to shadow lairs... that doesn't mean they ever will / ever get to enjoy them

No. Shadow Lairs are not

No. Shadow Lairs are not meant to be farmed. The main purpose is to craft the boss armor. Taking away the cost of the key would make it quite profitable in crowns to farm Shadow Lairs, and more people running Shadow Lairs more often would pump even more crowns into the system, raising CE prices.
And pump large quantities of SL mats into the AH and decrease their value, making it harder for non-pass players whom are running for a reason other than the boss armor to recoup the cost of the key by selling the mat.

I agree with Wolfkit I don't

I agree with Wolfkit

I don't know where you got the idea of a shadow lair pass but not everything in a game is meant to be profitable/farmed
and if only 1/4 person in a SL party has the pass and would still require the key, that person would be forced to pay for partial ce cost of the key too and would make passes useless

you sound like you have some bad experience with SL, seeing as you want to go in "as you please".

as a side note, when the SL were released there was a comment saying that the lairs would be more towards players with 5* gear.
missions are different, and some doesnt even require clockwork travel. Im guess those would be like running errands for NPCs(like typical MMORPG quests), or making friends or what not.

dont be so negative about it :) lets all hope for a great update

Oh.. hopefully those aren't

Oh.. hopefully those aren't what missions are, we've been wanting some new content for quite a while. That is extremely disappointing.

If they are then by all means the devs can make them a cheap to implement (copied over in SL's case) marketting scheme like the Shadow Lairs as well, could care less now.

Sounds like the general Spiral Knights playerbase attitude is content instead of happy.

"I don't know where you got the idea of a shadow lair pass but not everything in a game is meant to be profitable/farmed"

Maybe try "enjoyable" ??????

"when the SL were released there was a comment saying that the lairs would be more towards players with 5* gear."

Who is assuming that all players with 5* gear are willing to pay OOO an amount that will allow them to enjoy easy-to-implement rehashed content?

If you are going to argue that most players farm crowns for their keys, then you cannot argue that the economy is better this way than a Shadow Lair pass - there would be less crown farming if that is the case.

/thread, any more discussion is useless so please don't, it won't matter, and would only waste your time. Mainly because

1. If you support Shadow Key-type ideas, then you do not need to argue that they are for the better because that is going to remain the way OOO makes money from its playerbase no matter what support you give them.

2. If you disagree with Shadow Key-type ideas and understand how dirty they are, your voice does not matter, not because you do not speak loud enough but because nobody is willing to listen.

This has been shot down already.

...but I would agree to an Explorer's pack MK II that had something like 5000 ce, a shadow key or two, and perhaps a couple weeks of epass.

Hey, no moar discussion! Oh

Hey, no moar discussion! Oh yeah I can graveyard this thread.

Also, I'll be away from the forums for a while except for arsenal, the things I hear are too depressing, so start rejoicing you won't have to hear from me in a long time.
