If you were the party leader, and u smacked the reward boxes at the end of a danger room, arena, etc, and a super rare drop (for example Darkfang Shield or Kat hat) dropped would you boot your entire party to ensure you got the drop?

Would you if it were a pick-up group?
Would you if it were with only guildies?

In any case

No.

I am not a cruel or selfish person, and haven't even considered that before.

Now that I HAVE, I still say I wouldn't.

In any case, I'd be disappointed, even SORELY disappointed, but I'd NEVER kick someone just because I want something.

I don't think you'd have the time to kick everyone by the time someone reaches for the drop.

Without a doubt unless it was

Without a doubt unless it was a boss or shadow lair run as I'm only grinding for heat and crowns at the moment.

That is to say, if it was a super rare item like what you mentioned, I would warn my group about it and try and figure a way for all of us to get it.

And ONLY if it was one of those, as the drops I've seen, (Prismatech alchemer, searing edge and firecracker) would be left up to the luck of the draw.

Nah, I'm too much of a team-oriented person now. If you asked me like 6 months ago I'd have said "gladly" and booted everyone before it even happened.

Yes. In fact, I purposefully kill my party off one by one sometimes on the third stage of arenas and whilst fighting JK so that when I get to the treasure boxes, I can open them and do just that should a rare drop appear.

depends

random people: without a second doubt I will kick them, in the order of closest to farthest of the item
solo: no need for kick here
guild members(unfamiliar ones): yes without a doubt
guild members(familiar ones): no i will never kick people i an good friends with
people on friend list: again, depends on how good our relationship is

overall: ya if you run with me, with me as the party leader, and there is an item drop, you better get there within 3 seconds or you wont get it :)

Mhm...

It just all depends, if the people in my party geuinly(I think thats how you spell that?) deserve it, I will leave it up to fate to decide who should be the holder of it. Though if it chose me I would be eternally grateful xD.

Just a general item you can craft, like a 5* item? Nah. Darkfang Shield or True Love Locket though? Hell yes, though I'd probably mail each person I kicked 500 ce too.

This game does so well to undermine the cutthroat elements of multiplayer in most respects. I wonder why they even have a rare drop mechanic for items. :|

If for some reason I was with randoms... HECK YEA... but...
I haven't done a run with randoms in.... well... NEVER

I would take it for myself and sell it and give each of the guildies in the run a split of the profit.

Experiment: You and a friend

Experiment:
You and a friend break boxes and kill monsters to drop materials but dont pick them up. Then try going solo and see what happens. Then try again but with a kick.
I was under the impression the game has already decided who gets what when it drops, but it would be trivial to find out for sure, don't you think?

@Rewopa

I would be interested in discovering this as well, but its a bit beyond my grasp as I rarely group with friends, heck my first delve in to the UGWW was with a random group.

I have actually had it happen

I have actually had it happen before. A Shocking Edge dropped, and one of the party went solo to see what would happen. As it turns out, the party member who gets a drop is determined when it drops, not when it's picked up. When he went solo, the Edge went with him.

To kick......or not to kick.

I wouldn't be honest if I said the thought has never crossed my mind. That being said, I would not kick someone for a rare drop.
I would see if the other members of the party could agree on a way of "splitting it" like the one who keeps it gives the other three
members 1/4th what it's worth or the item is sold and the money is devided among them.

Most of the time, you don't notice you got an item until after it's picked up.

no

rare drops are usually 0-3* stuff and I could easily craft those for UVs.

and even if it was a super rare drop, I still wouldn't just randomly kick everyone.

@ Alyn

I laughed and laughed. That was awesome :)

I have to say, if it was a darkfang shield i wouldn't kick. If it was a White Kathat, my selfishness would know no bounds :) And i would equip it, not sell it. And then i would run around haven, looking super-duper-duper awesome. I am interested now if the item would go with the person you booted.

@Guyinshinyarmor, i've often said that drops in general are soooooo rare that there is no reason to not give them to everyone in the party. Especially since they are mostly junk. Wouldn't exactly be game breaking if everyone got a rock salt bomb lol. Even if 4 kathats showed up that way, it would be awesome, not....why the hell doesn't everyone get the random drop lol.

i lol'd.

For the longest time, as non-party leader, i secretly hasten to the treasure boxes at the end of arenas and boss battles so that if a (quicksilver helm back in the day) or some other amazing thing drops, i can grab it (and thus initiate the random reward) before anyone starts booting folks.

note: please note, i was aware of the randomness of the rewards :)

Well, that changes the dynamic then. No point in kicking. Problem is, that kind of knowledge is very limited, so I suspect most people would still cut the throats of their team for it.

@Chris
Never? Really? Are you not good enough to carry crap teams? I thought you were all about the challenge. The way you go on, I'd expect you to spend half your runs in PUG if only to keep your skills sharp and lord it over the peasantry. :p

@Pawn
If only. As is, if an item drops in a party, it's a joy for one person and a sorrow for up to 3 others. That's a bit messed up.

At the very least, word is that the Darkfang is due for a more wide release soon, so the only thing left would be the True Love Locket which could be fixed by doing what you suggest. After all, since it's functionally identical to another item in-game there's really no worry about duplicating a cosmetic item that few people will ever know you have.

Nah, I couldn't care less for any of the existing rare drops, and I'd sell most generic gear drops I do get anyway. Hell if it was something a guildmate or friend wanted I'd give it to em if I got it.

I read somewhere that if a party gets a drop, everyone going solo = everyone gets an item. Then again, from what the people up top said, I guess it doesn't work that way...

Assuming that the gist of it is that if the party leader kicks everyone, the leader gets the drop and nobody else--nope, won't kick. I run with friends/guildies 90% of the time or I solo, so I'd feel too guilty to do that.

Well.

Actually, it depends. If they all agree into it, I would kick them out of the group, so they all get it, right? But, if they REALLY don't want to get kicked out, then I won't.

Do you take pleasure in saying necro?

And no I usually solo but, i'll party once in a while and when I do make the party I don't kick.. It's wrong and honestly do you want to see /tells for you asking why you booted them out of the party? Usually followed by begging.
