I knew what I wanted before I got really rolling.
Hmmm... first set...
Helm: Emberbreak (quickly upgraded to Firebreak)
Armor: Circuit Breaker, I think, and then Cobalt, but I'm not sure if I actually had Circuit Breaker or just moved to Cobalt after Proto. I knew the one I wanted didn't start until 3* and I needed to get to Tier 2 in the meantime.
Shield: Scale Shield, and then Green Ward from Party Pack a friend bought. Both lasted like a few hours before I picked up a Jelly Shield in a drop.
Sword: Hot Edge / Searing Edge
Gun: Autogun
(Oops, I think I expanded too much and actually listed my first two sets at least XD But I really did make those upgrades within a day so I don't count the stepping stones.)
