I'm just curious about which one of these is better. I have the glacius and I really like it, but i'd just like too know which of the others is better.
Which is better? Glacius, Combuster, Voltedge, or Archeon
Combuster-Deal More Damage to Every Enemy in the Game, Excluding Fire-Themed Monsters, as Fire does Normal Damage per 'Tick.'
Glacius-Stop Enemies in their Tracks with its Powerful Charge Attack, allowing you to Escape/Back Up & Charge up another one. Frozen Enemies take Normal Damage 'Ticks.'
Voltedge-Hate Contructs & the Undead? Always seem to get Mobbed up? Get this baby & Charge up a Devastating Charge Attack to those in its Path. The Shock 'Ticks' Deal Elemental Damage & Stops them from Moving every 'Tick' passes by, interrupting their Movement/Attack.
Acheron-Need a Shadow Dealing Weapon? Don't like that Clunky Faust? Get this sword for Fast & Effective Damage Against Gremlins & Jellies. Keep in mind, though, that this Sword doesn't Inflict Statuses but still Retains its other Family's Charge Attack.
One thing to note with the elemental brandishes is that the Combuster is the only one of the three where you can consistently make enemies ride the lightning for the whole length of the charge attack. The Voltedge and Glacius will tend to stop non-status-resistant monsters part way down the explosion chain.
You can stack fire and shock together. Any attack breaks freeze. Shock ticks break freeze. So if you are gonna use 2 of the elem brandishes together you have further incentive to avoid freeze.
"Further" incentive to avoid Freeze?
There's still situations where freeze works out better than the other two, especially when solo or even in 2man parties.
For instance, having two Glacius' and spamming the charges works out to be a freeze-potent as Shiver, but keeps the sword damage involved, so basically nothing ever gets to move while you casually blow it up...with you...sword....
I'm not really sure the situation in which a glacious freeze ruins kiting - I kite arenas with it all the time and never run into any issues? In fact it usually makes it easier for me to control the location of enemies by either breaking them up or clumping them together.
@ Darkbrady, yeah i got ahead of myself and said further incentive when i suppose by what i had written i should have said incentive. I was kinda goin on the premise that it is the least preferred of the 3 elem brandishes. But good point. There are certainly incentives to use it as well as to avoid it.
@ Realnight, It hurts kiting in arenas in parties. Mobs get frozen in the kiting path of your teammates. Glacius (IMO) is the best sword of the 3 for solo and you'd rarely have any kiting problems using it in solo play. Also (again in parties) it messes up the rhythm of kiting with AoA or VT or VV etc.
would have to agree that using it in parties in arenas is tricky, unless you're all running together.
However, if you're in a party in arenas and someone isn't spamming vortexes, then you're doing it wrong!
I love glacius and volt edge but hating combuster and acheron, I don't even like acheron on jelly king palace. These two weapons are just shooing monsters away. Meanwhile, glacius/voltedge can hold the monster's position for another combo or allies' charge attacks.
... but I love making gremlins ride the Acheron explosion train.
the status of the voltedge is what makes it the best
i have one and it is TANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But cost too many kromo coins
SAME ON IT
so if u dont want to waste time playing lockdown and lose all your money
Chose the Combuster fire is cool too.
but try to get the voltedge
So, I'm pretty sure not going for acheron or voltedge, but I'm going 2 do vana soon so what should I get? Glacius or Combuster?
a necro o_o
Combuster for more damage, glacius for more safety (though personally I hate freeze status effect on brandish) in general.
edit:eh oh well, I replied on dead thread. >__>
"Safety" til you freeze a slag in yo face instead of push it over there patrick'ing it.
Slag used "zombie fire breath"
Slag used "zombie fire breath"
Slag used "zombie fire breath"
Slag used "zombie fire breath"
Slag used "zombie fire breath"
Slag used "slap your s**t"
Slag used "zombie fire breath"

Well, Acheron does shadow damage, while the other three do elemental damage. Damage type is the single most important consideration in choosing a sword. So Acheron is not really comparable to the other Brandishes; instead, it competes with Gran Faust. See my sword guide for my opinion on that stuff.
Combuster, Voltedge, and Glacius are identical except in the status that they inflict on their charge attacks. So it comes down to a decision of whether you like fire, shock, or freeze. All have pros and cons.
*Fire is good for extra damage, except against fire-resistant enemies and particularly oilers. Note: Even though the fire is worthless in FSC, the charge attack still does its usual immediate damage, so Combuster is not worthless.
*Freeze is good for crowd control, and it does some nice damage upon thawing, but freeze ruins kiting and can actually be counterproductive.
*Shock is seen as a compromise, in that it does less damage than fire, and doesn't completely lock up monsters like freeze. It can make monsters less predictable. And of course it's bad against quicksilvers. However, in tight crowds the area effect of shock damage can result in more total damage than fire.
