I hate that the party has to share the same server has the leader...

I want to play with my friend, but he is in the EU server. (I play with him, BUT IT IS SUCH A PAIN) I am in the US East server, and my friend is in the EU server. The problem is, if I join him, I JOIN HIS SERVER. If I join his server, I get two bars, and usually disconnect after a while. I want to go on runs with my friend without having problems like this, and I am tired of getting disconnected. I get two bars of of connection on the top right corner, and occasionally one, I notice when I block, the reaction time isn't fast enough, and I take damage while blocking almost the last second. This isn't much of a problem, but it would be easier if it didn't do this. (THANK GOD I am not warping around the map when I have an uber-bad internet connection...)

Anyone know how I can fix this? (Don't tell me to make my friend join me, that'll make him lag)

OOO, you must fix this. I can't play with my EU friend, and it will either be a pain for me, or for him to play Lockdown together. D:

As Scotty would say, "I canna

As Scotty would say, "I canna change the laws of physics". It just takes a noticeable amount of time for signals to reach the other side of the planet. With routing and repeating delays we're already pretty close to 1/6th or so of the speed of light in a vacuum when it comes to transatlantic latencies.

Unless SK builds a server in the middle of the ocean, unfortunately this is the way things are. I'm spoiled by being on the East coast as well, so I was getting pretty good connection speeds pre-EU servers. Now that I've ran on the European servers, I know how much it sucks for other people; I literally stand there, charging, and next thing I know, I'm dead across the room.

Yeah.

Sucks to be me. 1 bar everywhere I go.

I've yet to try the speedtest and post to the thread somewhere here, but that I'll do when I get back.

Deal with it?

This is what your friend has to go through whenever he joins your party, so I'd say it's all fair. Before the Euro server, the folks across the pond had no options at all, which is what people from southeast Asia are stuck with. After playing a Shadow Lair with a buddy from England (his party) I appreciate what he has to deal with in order to play with us. It is exactly as Nicoya says, you cannae change the laws of physics.

Notes from an Asian Swordsman

Block more frequently, every after attack combo, every inch closer to your enemy.
Try not to use the last hit of the combo (e.g. 2 hits for 3-combo weapons).
Herd enemies to predict their movements more easily.
Give it to them when they come to you. Then run. If they come back for more, give more.
Favour running over charging. Every foot away from your foe counts for more reaction time.
Never shield-walk.
Stay away from gun puppies untill they start charging. Then strafe and run quickly to tackle before it charges the second time.
Spike traps is a good source of 2 second invulnerability (hurts a bit, but better than any status effect or big damage you're going to receive from another).
(Note: spike trap damage may vary from maps and stratum)
Don't bother attacking when poisoned.
Run away first when shocked. Shield only when clear from mobs.
When mobbed, cut your way out and get away when there's a window of escape.
Hate devils.
Get close to devils. Even if they're overtimers. Use less charge attacks and shield more.
Beat. Down. Bosses.
It's okay to toy with your food when they're the only one left.

The best I can say for now. I have no solution for the disconnection (other than reconnect quickly. you get back to where you were, but still be able to recieve damage), but until the day someone figures out how to make a game room between 2 or more servers, or when Lag Compensation is implemented we'll have to do with this.
