As I've sort of hit the glass ceiling, ability-wise, I've been debating on just trying to make/aquire all the gear.
So, anyone out there done this? Yes, this is a full-on bragging-rights thread. You don't have to go into detail, how about just a little descriptor?
all 5*? All Swords? All Accessories? Whole Shebang?
Me, I'd like to get 5* of all makeable gear. I'm not too interested in the accessories, and I don't see a reason for the lower versions of 5*s. Maybe the end of the build tree stuff?
I have a while to go, but I've got a pretty good start. I think my arsenal is a pretty high percentage under 50%.

He's been here since beta and bought a large amount of CE (not blaming him or anything) so it's reasonable to assume that he has nearly every piece of 5* gear in the game.

That's an unreasonable assumption. I go out of my way to collect various things just for the sake of collecting and I don't have EVERYTHING. I have been playing longer than the aforementioned player, so age has nothing to do with it. :p

Been playing since steam release. I have more than enough 5* items to play the game, and I still have far less than half of them... sadly. My goal is to get every singly piece of gear in the game, with a semi-good UV on it... Although I have seen people who could craft every piece of gear in the game. Like Rommil, should he decide to sell his accessories, and just go for it.

well I tracked it down a bit,
well I tracked it down a bit, and I'm closer than I thought, at least with weapons. I need a Wild Hunting Blade, Sudaruska, and the Flourish variants (which I have recipes up to 4 for) to have all the 5* blades. I need most of the blast bombs, some of the guns...eh. armor sets will be a bit off. Next SL run I'll have all of them at least.

I know many that have all swords/guns/bombs, but armor sets are way time consuming to make. And it'd suck to make some of the more "hipster" shields.
Actually, it wouldn't. ;D

my friend had all weapons with asi and ctr uvs on seperate pieces, but she quitted
im collecting too, but i dont have as many items yet
i also bought pairs of the trinkets from brinks 1-2 days ago, does that count ? i mean..otherwise the tokens r kinda worthless

I've been collecting 5* items for a long while, but I'm still not even close.
Swords 11/19 (inc Winmillion)
Bomb 14/15 (inc bombs that stop at 4*, only missing Irontech, all bombs have CTR Med+)
Guns 6/17 (I only use guns for utility, so missing a lot of these)
Helm 9/30
Armor 10/31
Shield 7/12
There is a lot of overlap in the armor defenses, and some armors are downright terrible. Those will be the last thing for me to collect.
As far as shields go, should you count Swiftstrike and Scarlet as a complete set since they provide unique properties? What about all those shields that only go from 1-3*? Even when I started the game, I completely skipped making all those.
A friend of mine is collecting every bomb, 1-5* and is trying to get UV CTR on each. Very ambitious project, for sure.

I wouldn't call that not close, I'd call that a couple weeks of grinding. Well, maybe a month. :D I'm at 12 swords, but I haven't caught up with the Troika yet, as it was a dead-end for a bit. I suspect it'll be the same thing when OOO finally gives the Winmillion some due respect, although I don't like em. Too much floor movement, honestly.
Swiftstrike? Can't see why not! I still use mine all the time, and a guildmate only uses them as far as I can tell. Honestly, it's not a contest as much as it's a personal goal and where you are in terms of it.
Dag yo, you should be proud of your bomb selection. I got the Vapes all done, and now I'm working on the grav and electron. They're ready for 4*. Not looking forward to working through the Blast bombs...I'm not a huge fan of them and I sorta feel like I'm done since I rolled a 3uv on my Nitro. They are hilarious tho. heh

I will never obtain a Vog cub hat, but besides that I am missing 2 to 3 other 5* items for armor and helm areas, and 1 5* shield. As for guns, bombs, and swords I rather not waste time making them, I did have every weapon during beta, but realized there NO USE AT ALL for majority of them. Costumes go I am missing 3 or 4 bombhead masks, but have the rest of the costumes. Accessories I do not have all of them, but I would say I have close to 65% to 70% of them.

I really don't think so.
I mean that would mean well, everything.
Naturally the regular armors wouldn't be an issue, neither would most weapons.
(LD ones might be a bit of a pain)
Someone is crazy lucky if they have a darkfang shield, and then after that,
there are all the rose regalias, even the AH ones, and then there are the bombheads.
All in all, I think it would be possible to have every piece of mundane equipment, but
it would be a bit crazy to try and get everything + costumes.
