How does status resist on shields work?
"Shields can also have resistance to one or more damage types or status effects; this reduces the amount of health the shield loses when blocking that type of damage or status."

So, it's like another defense basically. An elemental shield with burn resistance would probably fair better than an elemental shield lacking that resistance when blocking attacks that can cause burn for example.
So, when an attack with a status hits a shield the status is converted into damage against the shield, rather than as an effect?
Exactly.
When a status effect would usually be applied but is blocked by your shield, your shield will take damage.
The amount of damage your shield takes is based on how much of that status your shield protects from.
One thing to note is that in lockdown, status bombs never damage guardian shields. They also cause guardians to be invulnerable whilst standing in them because the status tick is damaging the shield too fast for any other damage to be applied [there is a .5 or so second invulnerability after taking damage from one source] (and it is causing no shield damage).
Could Volcanic Plate Shield serve as an elemental shield? I am looking for one and I really don't want the owlite shield unless I have no other options. VPS is always recommended in FSC, but I found out that it has no elemental defence. So is it still viable as an all-purpose elemental shield that could be used both inside and outside FSC? Or should I go look for another ele shield? any suggestions (except owlite) would be appreciated :)
Grey Owlite is the most recommended for FSC and the clockworks in general.
FSC is mostly normal + elemental + a little shadow damage.
I would say Grey Owlite >>>> VPS for fsc alone.

Doesn't the vps outperform the gos in vanaduke due to the damage from mace/spears being normal?
vps tanks better on vana's mace but grey owlite could tank it as well, leaving small shield health (orange color). Also, once you're getting used of vana, you are not supposed to tank vana's mace because it's easy to dodge.
I'm mostly worried about trains bum rushing you from the bottom, and then not having time to dodge a mace. That seems to be very situational though.

The mace is half elemental half normal damage.
The fireballs around vana are 100% elemental/fire
The fireballs from his mask in phase 2-4 are 100% elemental/fire
The fire tiles are 100% fire/elemental
His fire snakes are 100% fire/elemental
Back before they split the mace's damage type Omega shell used to be the best for vana because it tanked his mace the best.
The Monster Families of the Clockworks are shown in various places (such as the SK Wiki) as "Neutral to," "Weak to," and "Resistant to" various Damage types. In that context, is a piece of Knight Armor/Helm with no shown Resistances/Defenses/Weaknesses to a Damage type considered Weak against that Damage type or Neutral? Similarly if that piece were to be portrayed with a fair amount Resistance to that Damage type, would that piece then be considered to be Neutral or Strong in its defense of that Damage type? I ask similarly for Resistances/Weaknesses to Status Effects also.

I doubt his mace does elemental dmg at all. That's why an Owlite won't tank it better then a Crest. Actually VPS tanks it the best, and thats the one that has most normal defense. Not a coincidence.
The mace is split damage.
If it was based on normal damage only then Omega Shell would still tank it the best as it absorbs the most normal damage out of every shield in the game.
Before they split damage types it USED to be only normal and omega shell tanked it the best.
Ok, I am new and REALLY confused. I have crafted several one and two star items, but now I am trying to craft 3 star armor and am having a problem. I have all the materials needed (quantity included) but it will not transmute. The required energy is 200. I only have 4 mist energy, but I have over 1000 crystal energy. Is the mist energy the problem, and if so, how can one ever craft a 3 star or above item when our mist tank only holds 100?
Did you unequipped the item you wanted to upgrade?
You can't craft something up if it's equipped(Note: Equipped, not bound.) to you.(Found this out the hard way...-_-)
If you didn't, just equip something else, and try again.
You cannot craft items who have equipped, this is correct.
@Chris the only reason an omega shell can't tank the mace is because it lacks fire resistance.
Wasnt it for that It would be able to take two maces as VPS does.
I am trying to make something from a recipe, so it is not equipped. I have all materials and quantities needed, but not transmuting. Wondering if it has something to do with mist energy like I asked in previous post???? Dont know what else the problem could be.....
I have more than what is required of the crowns also. Isnt making any sense to me why it wont transmute.
If you're upgrading an item, you need to unequip it before crafting.
No, not upgrading, just making an item from a recipe.
To make a 3 stars item, you need the 2 stars version of it. Do u've it? I know it's dumb to ask you that, but just to be sure.
Chris, vanaduke's mace is not split damage. It is normal with fire.
I believed you were confused because you thought fire was elemental damage; that is not correct.
Vanaduke's mace does pure normal damage, recruits!

I'm a half bomber and half swordsman with only 2 weapon slots. Any help helping me decide which weapons to use in LD?
Swords: Khorovod, Jalovec, Twisted Snarble Barb, Shockburst Brandish, Sealed Sword.
Bombs: Super Blast Bomb, Lightning Capacitor, Crystal Bomb (with UV CTR low)

For your lockdown set, I assume this is tier 2?
If it is, which I desperately hope, then I recommend this loadout since you take one bomb one sword.
You have a lot of good weapons for lockdown, but first of all, what class do you play?
It makes a big difference. Tell me what class you play, if you use your sword more or your bomb, if you're gear is leveled..

T2 recon. I use my sword for 1 on 1, and bomb for mob battles. Gear is leveled.
What shield shoudl I craft my Heavy PLate Shield into?
I have a Avenger I use, a Faust, a Grand Flourish and a Prisma Driver. I am a swordie, I have some good 3* equips too, and a Ashtail Cap and Vog Cub coat (nearly, 20 CE away)
Volcanic Plate shield for vana fights
Ironmight for piercing shield, if you don't use jelly or barbarous thorn shield

Twisted Snarble barb, or Sealed Sword, with the Lightning Capacitor.
It really depends what you like better, the Sealed or the Snarble. I'd probably go with the Snarble, but your choice.
The bomb because it's great for spamming at points, where a striker will run in and be prey to your sword.
It's also good for just putting into a crowd, if you can manage.
Just curious, what were you using before you posted?
Is it worth saving up money for say a 3 Star'ed item or just going for 1-2 star'ed item?
Also an effective way to get crowns without real life moneys?

Im pretty sure there is never a reason to get the ironmight plate shield. I made one out of curiousity, and wolvers shattered it, slimes shattered it... it was horrid. I couldn't believe how quickly it broke. My VPS performed very nearly as well, and Barb thorn and RJS outclassed it by far.
Is the troika worth looking into I am also sort of a vet so just wanted to get your oppion. Thanks

From what many others tell me, ironmight has a tad bit more piercing defence than bts. Jelly shields supposedly have more too, and it would make sense, since the bts has a sword bonus.
Troika line is terrible.

what if you had full skolver a barbarous thorn shield and damage trinkets plus a divine avenger with undead very high and you hit a skelly with it in a full party...does he give you a sun silver?

Undead very high doesn't stack onto max damage bonus Fallconn, sorry mate.

I think the VPS takes ceiling tiles better. I find the mace easy to dodge since I'm shivermist reliant, so vannaduke is never facing me. He dosent have to look at you to hit you with a ceiling tile though.
The VPS also tank the mace better : it will be yellow (orange for Grey owlite) after a hit, but will still break on the second consecutive hit.
And he does have to look at someone to hit with his mace and thus make the ceiling fall. If he never looks at his target, the ceiling will never fall, and thus there will be no shadow fire either.
When my buddy The-Reverend gets in the mood while playing the game he starts singing his own version of lores in this game. he's pretty poetic and creative that Reverend.
