I created my first item yesterday, a Calibur, and received a UV for 'Damage Bonus vs Fiends: Low'. I understand from reading the wiki article that I can transfer this bonus to future upgrades along Caliburs Alchemy path, but is it worth it? So, a few questions, some about mechanics and others about strategy.
//Mechanically
- Will this damage bonus scale on an upgrade or will it always be a Low bonus? Assume I upgrade this item and keep the UV, will it eventually become Medium or higher?
- Assuming it doesn't scale, it would seem that going for a more substantial bonus on future UVs would be the better play. Am I right in thinking this or am I expecting to much from a UV?
- Does the UV bonus scale with the items level? Will a Low bonus eventually become a Medium at higher levels?
//Strategy
- Would it be strategically best to take a chance at getting a more general bonus such as attack speed? Or is damage bonus any given monster family the better play?
Thanks for reading and smacking me about the head if I missed the wiki articles that explain all this.
No, a Low will always be a Low, and only become slightly more effective through scaling based on the stars of the item. eg Maximum is barely 1 bar on a 2* item, and gets up to, like.. six bars by 5*?
Leveling doesn't affect a UV.
Attack speed is indeed the very best UV to get, as it's totally generally applicable. Damage bonuses will only be to certain monster types. But there's no way to decide which UV you'll get. Attack speed UVs only go up to medium, I believe.
