So I'm a pretty well experienced player starting my third knight. I have decided upon, without question, the plate armor set for this one, mostly cause I want a little more challenge and firmly believe that the benefits outweigh the attack speed decrease, especially when things like trinkets can offset it. That and it makes me look like a bucket headed robot...so a win in that catagory.

My question to anyone willing to answer is this:

What sword best compliments the plate set? As in what still performs well and deals consistent and solid dps despite the minimal a.s. decrease? I've been thinking either the snarble barb or one of the flourishes, since that all have decent speed and compare favorably in damage to the calibur and brandish lines. They also out damage the spur line, and don't stop at 4* as with that one. So, if anyone can answer me this it'd be greatly appreciated.

The brandishes have the

The brandishes have the highest DPS anyway and won't get affected much by the ASI decrease. I generally just spam the charge anyway with mine (Max CTR) it's safer, does more dps on groups and won't be affected by ASI.

May I ask why start a new character instead of just collecting more armors with your main one, expanding it's arsenal?

@ Juances - I like the idea of a new character as a new personality, working up from the bottom.

you might like

You might like the sword DPS tables compiled by the guild Lancer Knightz. Although DPS (vs. one monster) is not the only consideration in choosing a sword, of course. Realnight's idea of mainly charging nicely dodges the ASI issue.

But not everyone has UVs for

But not everyone has UVs for CTR and there are places where you will be hard pressed to fully charge up (i.e devilites and grievers)

Sorry I didn't mean to imply

Sorry I didn't mean to imply UV's - just trinkets for me. devilites and grievers I use a barbarous thorn blade - ASI might not be a problem there either.

Since this is your third character getting a pair (for elemental and shadow) of CTR med brandishes might not be that expensive for you anyway. Then you only need one trinket to max CTR. But from experience I can say Very High is fine too.

I was thinking as well that bombing isn't going to be affected by the ASI debuff either. Just a thought.
