I have been ragecrafting a couple of items un SK,
And have noticed I rarely get UVs crafting with mist,
But if I use CE, I get UVs... alot.

Examples:
I crafted 20 or so prismatech alchemers over 5 days and got no UVs.
I craft 1 using 2 Ce and get Ctr low.

Crafting freezing vaporizers I get none with mist.
Use 40ce and get CtR low.

Now here is interesting
I crafted 6brandishes using mist energy. NO uvs.

I craft 4 using CE and 3 out of 4 have UVs (beast low on two but meh)

Have any of you noticed this? Do the Chances increase when using Ce?

I thought it was luck...

I thought it was just luck actually...

I've crafted like 20 Autoguns and the best I got was +dam vs undead low and +dam vs gremlin low.
I craft 2 with CE out of rage and I get an Autogun with BOTH +dam vs undead low and +dam vs gremlin low >.<'

I made about 10 Prismatech Alchemers with Mist, and got nothing. But when I used CE I got +dam vs undead med.

Finally with brandishes, I have crafted like 50 with mist. Most of the time, I get mad and start wasting away hundreds of CE. Off the top of my head, some of my best Brandish crafts were with CE, which include:
- ASI high and +dam vs gremlin med
- CTR low and +dam vs undead low
- +Dam vs Constructs and Undead low
- ASI med and +dam vs Construct high

EDIT**:
This would normally be reserved for the Bazaar, but I still got the Brandish with CTR low and +dam vs undead low, unbound, if someone wants to buy it :D

All my ragecrafts are with Mist, and I've gotten quite a few UVs that way. Including 2 that are on my current gear, an ASI high Brandish and an ASI VH Flourish.

Brandish isnt sold yet..

I have gotten a few UV's with Mist, but I still keep getting my better ones with CE. I got a Flourish with ASI low and an Autogun with CTR low with mist.

Also, the Brandish I mentioned above isn't sold yet. I'm still figuring out an amount of crowns I want for it :P

I'll usually save up the money I get from selling my crafts from Mist Energy and then wait all next day to ragecraft with 100 me and 100 ce at once.
Got my prismatech ctr med uv today, but I dont remember if it was on the second me craft or first ce.

Brandish
- Gremlin High
- Gremlin High
- Gremlin Very High
- ASI Low
- ASI Low

Wolver Coat
- Fire High, Curse Low, Freeze Low
- Curse High
- Normal High

Wolver Cap
- Normal Low, Pierce Low
- Freeze High
- (something else, can't remember cause I sold it right away)

I've also gotten a bunch of other UVs that were essentially worthless (like beast low on a brandish) and I sold them for cheap on the AH. I only started mist crafting when I bought a elevator pass with the Christmas sale.

Anyways, I don't believe that crafting with CE gives any benefit. If it did, then I would think OOO would advertise this so that more CE would be consumed faster (making them more money). But instead, they advertise mist energy as regenerating CE.

Out of the 300 or so autoguns

Out of the 300 or so autoguns I've made so far, I made about 80 on CE and got 6 UVs (less than the 10% rate). I've done better on mist.

Now, the best UV was one of the CE crafts, but I don't think that's relevant.

CTR-Vhigh on hot edge (T1 lockdown^^)
CTR-high on toxic vaporiser(first 2* weapon
CTR-med on Brandish

and on 3* items, crafted with 100 mist
ASI-med on grintovec
CTR-low on arc razor

Or maybe UV's like me...

hmm need to compare only post 01/19/12 crafts

I would like to point out that the time of crafting, as in which update the crafts were done on, could make a huge difference in the accusation.

If crafting on mist is penalized with a lower UV rate than ce crafting, then this is a recent development and any crafting done before the latest patch is irrelevant to the way things may or may not work if crafting was tinkered with as a stealth update in a recent patch (OOO does like to stealth patch).

I'm not saying that the mist crafting is any different then ce crafting. I'm just saying that only crafting done after 01/19/12 patch is valid to compare.

I'll start logging my own mist crafting to see what kind of numbers I am personally getting. I'll bet that if a large enough number of crafts are looked at the numbers for both will be ~10%ish.

@bluescreenofdeath - yes, your point is valid that you can only compare recent number if you assume that OOO changed something. I however, don't believe they would do something like that without letting you know because it would encourage CE use, which encourages CE purchases.

Either way, my wolver cap Freeze High was just a few days ago and I think that is a pretty good UV.

I don't think it makes a difference

It is such a small sample size that i don't think any real conclusions can be drawn. My limited experience tells me it makes no difference if you CE or ME craft. I will say a certain amount of attribution bias is going to lead toward CE crafting feeling more successful. You remember successes with more weight than mundane non-successes. Crafting with CE you are able to mass craft, or craft until you get a UV. With ME crafting, you are limited to only 2 crafts.

Also, Rommil crafted the sweetest brandish on the game (CTR VH+ASI MED) on ME.

I DO think it is important that you feel better about crafting UV's with CE over ME. We all play the game for fun. If crafting that gear is 'more fun' whether that effects probability or not, it is still somehow important :)

I was rage crafting 1* items

I was rage crafting 1* items for T1 PvP for the last few days (so obviously since the last patch) using Mist only. I've made close to 100, and got 17 UVs... including 1 very high and 2 doubles (low/med and low/high). I do not think that Mist or CE matters.

I think the only reliable way

I think the only reliable way to know is to craft the same number of items each time with mist and CE (ex. 2 2* items per day, with full mist and then CE). Tally up the percentage of UV'd items vs non-UV over a number of days, a week or two at the least.

That said, I don't think there's a difference between mist and CE. I always craft my 2* items on mist and I probably get 1 UV item every two weeks. I almost never get UVs on things that I actually use (which have to be crafted on CE), and I've never crafted a highly-sought after UV.

In my personal experience, the only way I have EVER obtained a UV was through ME, while using CE has resulted in no UVs for me. I once crafted 22 wolver coats with CE, and not a single one resulted in a UV. By crafting using only ME, I have gotten the following wolver coats within the last 2 weeks: shadow low, elemental low x2, elemental & shock low, fire low, normal low, fire high, and shock max & elemental high. (using only 1 crafting alt)

Seeing this, I can't say that ME is better, but for me it is :P.

1/3 were made with CE
Mist craft yielded the UV.

Nah, I don't think it's quite like this. I crafted 10 things on mist the other day, and 5 of them had UVs, 3 of which were meds. They weren't great UVs, but they were there nonetheless. I go through long periods of absolutely no UVs, and then a bunch will pop up. I'd say it's luck, but it's clustered just a bit too much for that to be true IMO.
