So, as many of you may have already noticed, there is still a great amount of possibilities for new monster families.
I know this is no Pokemon game, but an increased number of monster types could open many possibilities for new themed levels or arenas.
I tryed to fill all those blank spaces, but I can't think of enough kinds of creatures and I'd like your help.
If you could choose/create any monster family to add in-game, what would it be?
I'll add everything (unless they have already been said or are just trolling) you guys suggest and will comment on them on Itallic so this might get a bit long.
New Monster Families:
- Mystical (Vampires, Werewolves, Mermaids, Minotaurs etc) - Blue-Phaze
- Raptorial (Dinossaurs in general) - Blue-Phaze
- Psychic (Teleporting or Illusional enemies) - Blue-Phaze
- Conjuring (Mages or witches) - Blue-Phaze
- Golems (Animated beings made from natural materials, such as wood, stone, etc?) (basically lumbers?) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Birds (They can fly over obstacles and stay out of reach of swordies) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Etherial (Enemies that can phase into and out of reality) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Mushrooms (Heh, like goombas?) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Plants (Cool, carnivore or liana plants could be chalenging) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Fish/Aquatic (Could be interesting for flooded areas) - Fluffyfoxxie
- Elemental (Monsters made of pure elemental manifestations) - Drastorm
- Nomads (Enemy knights from rival territories) - Kinkypenguin
- Dragons (That would fall under Mystical family) - Skyber
- Hovering (Hovers anywhere until target acquired!) - Borobudur
- Infected (Similar to zombies) - Borobudur
- Puppetmasters (Controls other enemies) - Beerder
- Extradimensional (Aliens) - Zyborg

Make your own Monster Family - They still have a lot of potential to give new content.
There is also the entire possibility of multi part enemies. This could be small vehicles in mini boss battles, or simply a larger variety of existing enemies. You could even have teams of gremlins working together on some sort of stationary weapon that you have to disable a shield generator or something for. Lots of possibilities.
Personally I'd like to see enemies with a little more then just one or two attacks that are more reactive or more varied and less simple to predict.

Yup, I'd like enemies with more attacks too, but I guess They'd be as annoying as Mechas. I might be wrong though.
Hmmm... one I can think of could be elemental manifestations.
For example a monster completely composed of fire, ice, or electric (the 'elements' that I would call are in the game: fire, freeze, shock respectively) and how they would work would be... lets say you use a fire weapon like the combuster on the fire elemental, then that fire elemental will gain health and become stronger (perhaps make it bigger too) but any other weapon type would be fine against it.
Nomads/Enemy Knights (Knights from a different territory who are also trying to obtain minerals and will stop at nothing to obtain them)
Another cool thing is to give them a variety of swords like piercing, shadow, and elemental.
I'm thinking an Arcacne version of the Chromanalisk and also dragons.

reptilian - can be flying (dragon) or crawler (komodo) shoots fire/electric breath but slow like the tree guy
spellcaster - casting spells like fire on targeted floor, ice, thunder, etc-etc but need a realistic casting speed
hovers - hovers anywhere until target acquired! u are doomed like greavers but no blocks can block em - maybe robotic kind of greavers
infected - smokers catches u to 1 step in front of them, boomers spill venom 4 sq - if hit, many zombie are summoned around u, tanker like the tree guy but 10x stronger n can throw random stones, jockey hops to u and make u walk randomly, spitter spits elemental/shadow damage stuffs, charger charges u to xxx tiles in front of u and stuns u, hunter hunts as the fastest infected and claw up ur friends one by one while hopping around, witch.. instant death on touch (must use gun/bomb)

Going along with the Nomad/Enemy Knight theme, how about Rogue Strangers? There could be a sword (winmillion), gun (autogun), and bomb (???) version. The names are just for the visuals.

none of that is precise, its just what id vaguely expect it to be and why it looks like non sense seeing it labeled as monster family

Each - represents the tier they are found in, Puppetmasters are weak against shadow, deal damage deterring to what monster they control, Snipes are piercing. They also damage themselves each time they do their threading animation of the monster they control, threading does 10 damage to them. )

Since you already have a Spelling monster family, we should also have a Grammar monster family. Sample enemies would include irate English teachers and those guys who insult you for saying words like "irregardless".
For a serious suggestion, how about an Extradimensional family for cosmic horror-like creatures? Then again, that might be too similar to The Swarm.

...All those "unimplemented families" just do different damage types. They don't take/resist damage in a different way to other things that the 6 we currently have.
I also second that just about everything suggested could be put into the existing families, or monster mechanics that could be used for all families (If you'd like me to make a list explaining, I could). Some name tweaking for families would have to be done though, such as renaming Gremlin to Humanoid and Jelly to Organic. The other 4 are broad enough to cover many things.
A better brainstorming topic would just be to come up with awesome individual monsters.
