I forgot how fun a game can be.

So apparently, money means a lot to the players here in Spiral Knights, compared to other game communities.
Money can be used for a lot stuff here in SK, like the 'new' accessories, high UVs, etc etc.
And I recently started playing another mmo, called Glory Destiny Online, and I gotta say; I forgot how fun it is to play a game that isn't ALL focused on having IG currency.
In Glory Destiny Online (just an example), you can play for hours and hours, without needing to 'pay' any real cash to actually progress fast in the game.
Which it's pretty much all about here in Spiral Knights, unless you want to spend hours and HOURS playing the same levels over and over.
So yeah, just sharing my opinion about this game, and how it sucks compared to other games out there.
Well it can't really suck, now can it. I've been playing since way back in the beta..

Hahaha
I can't believe someone'd praise another rehash of grand fantasia, they even re-used some sounds, the whole game play looks the same, just reskinned. And can you really say that there is fun watching your character auto-attack monsters? Taking hours to progress to another area which plays the same but has even longer grind time if you move forward. And X-Legend grind games are known to have heavy grind in them, when you reach certain points in their games you have to repeat the same damn quest all the time which requires you killing the same group of monsters for hours. Well, sounds fun, doesn't it?

I played league of legends for so long, i keep forgetting that i dont put my fingers on Q W E R, and i move with the right mouse button
Im not playing league for now cause of lag issues

I play Spiral Knights because I enjoy the gameplay and killing things in the Clockworks. So what if I have to play a long time to get gear with VH UVs? The best gear in MMOs takes a long time to get, and most of the time money is just a reason why I should jump into the Clockworks and fight stuff. And merely getting up to 5* is really not as hard as people make it out to be.
And there's nothing inherently wrong with money. People enjoy making money, and having a very thorough economy in the game is just part of the fun. Without that, a lot of us wouldn't even be playing SK.
The energy system could be made more noob-friendly so that it doesn't turn off players who would otherwise enjoy the game, but other than that I don't think anything needs to be addressed with progression. Things take just long enough to get that it motivates people to buy CE with real money, but not so long that you can't get them without doing so.

@Paweu, yeah I can admit that SK's gamestyle is pretty cool. Though, this thread is all about the focus on crowns // CE, really.
i was just checking for new games at mmohut and found glory destiny online in the newest video, it kind of looks like ether saga with babies as characters :3

:) Glad you found a game you like. Personally I prefer this game, Wakfu, and Vindictus.

Go find me an MMORPG that ISN'T all about getting as much currency as humanly possibly and I'll grow wings and fly to the devs and share the love.
If it's an RPG, it's about gear. If it's about gear, there's customisable variants involved, and expensive upgrades. Other MMOs let you walk around and play an map for free, but it's entirely non skill based and utterly dependant on your gear, basically meaning that money=advancement, and then when you advance, it's the exact same auto-attack for every mob in the game. SK is about skill first, gear secondary. You don't have to spend money on anything in game other than passes; can go kill Vana in Proto gear if you feel like it.
And if you're "doing the same maps over and over"...go to a different gate. Simple fix. And new gates every two days as well! Other MMOs are exactly the same maps. Forever.

@Darkbrady, I didn't actually think about it that way, thanks for commenting c:

another rehash of grand fantasia
Oh damn, THAT game was a real grind. I spent many weeks trying to make a single item. Imagine trying to alchemize a 5 star item from 3 star except the 4* alchemy step had about a 50% chance failure and the 5* had roughly a 90% chance of failing.

@Gwenyvier, About that...
Wakfu, I tried downloading it a while back, and it seemed like it's in another language?
Actually I don't remember what was the problem, I just remember the game not working or something.
reading that makes me laugh
the only persons randomly talking bad about other games, who i would actually take serious, are ones who have progressed far in cronous
without a high lvl char in cronous, i instantly know the guy whos talkin has no idea what hes talkin about
hours and hours in 1 lvl u say? try months and months
