I really want to be better at this game. Every time I go into an arena, I feel like my confidence is sapped from me with every death. I want to go into an arena and ace it every time without having to rely on friends for backup in tier 3. I don't like being knocked down just because my shield wasn't up at the right moment or because I forgot there was going to be rocket puppies, or because I forgot that fiends throw [crap] at you as soon as they spawn.

So basically, please make a gate have the option for "practice". reduce the cost to half, and take away crown/heat/material drop, and also eliminate Fiend levels from this option because nobody wants to fight fiends anyway.

NOTE: this is not an elaborate plot to get OOO to reduce gate costs. I have a 3-month elevator pass and I regularly buy extra energy. I just want it to be a good source of practice for newbies and myself.

Awfully complicated to

Awfully complicated to implement. First, are you tier 2? If so just buy a flaming vaporizer even the two star one was more than enough for me to clear the last part without dying quickly. If tier 3, well you should have enough experience at this point to have figured out what you want to do.

"with every death" If you die

"with every death"
If you die on arenas, you're doing it wrong. Watch and try to learn a trick or two:

Areans are the most fun levels with best rewards. If I had an all-arena gate, I'd use it instead of vanaduke gate.

There is nothing better than

There is nothing better than relying on friends in an arena. If you have a good team of friends or a good guild, there is always someone around to help out. As you progress in this game you'll learn natrually. Feel free at "add" me for any in-game help :)

It sounds like you just need

It sounds like you just need more practice, not having your shield up in time is entirely your own fault
As for rocket puppies and fiends, they are extreme examples of how arenas can be, many people dread those

There's a few things to remember when dealing with arenas:
1) Theme of the arena, as it would dictate what kind of monsters will be in it, and what status effects they will cause
e.g. Slimey showdown Ice Maul arena will typically have polar polyp, ice cube and cryo knight
2)Spawn patterns, as the positions and monster type spawned in are generally the same, it will help if you know what's coming
the wiki page http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Battle_Arena is pretty detailed, but doing more arenas would help you more
3)Spawn triggers, killing the last monster of a wave would trigger the next wave
By killing all except one from each wave, you can control when the next wave spawns, making it easier to deal with
4)Menders , they can revive gremlins in T3, meaning they can revive each other, so kill them as soon as possible

Derp
If you hate them it's beacuse you're bad. Pratice on them in the same way you'll practice with arenas.

First of all, thanks to

First of all, thanks to whoever reported me for foul language. Really something I wanted to wake up to after being reported for shouting "PREPARE URENUS" in HAVEN as an innocent joke
secondly: Sillysam said "It sounds like you just need more practice". Well gee whiz buddy I kinda just stated that. Thanks for being redundant. :P Asukalanforum said "another example of someone who got rich on xmas promo". I would like to state for the record that I was not around for the christmas promotions because I was playing Skyrim. That said, your sarcasm has been disregarded. Have a wonderful time in Spiral Knights.

'...need more practice' as in

'...need more practice' as in play a whole lot more?
You have elevator pass, then use it to the max

There's no point to a practice mode when the whole point of runs are the drops
You progress in the game by getting different/better gear, and to do that you need energy
For f2p players, that would mean hoarding crowns and buy ce from the market
If you take that away, then they won't be getting their mist worth of cr from runs

If you are willing to forgo the rewards for experience in the game, you're probably:
a)vastly inexperienced/unskilled
b)have the luxury of not worrying about ce/cr
From what you've said, you fit in both categories

Learn to play, scour the forum and wiki for tips for that
I learned to play mostly by just playing, but you'll miss some subtle things when playing
And you can learn those from the wiki

If you are having a lot of trouble in t3, I suggest you go back to t2 first
When you can confidently solo stratum 4 arenas with no deaths, then you're probably ready
