Why'd they remove the CTR? I think Damage and CTR or ASI Low per piece would be the (minimum) acceptable tradeoff for a full palette of negative status resists. In fact, going by the theme, it wouldn't be unreasonable to have all three properties and make it the true jack of all trades offensive gear. After all, Mad Bomber has fewer weaknesses but a massive Medium boost to bomb damage and CTR, the end-all be-all for the bomber who wants to hit like a truck.
While we're on this topic, how about another +1 plug for more gunner gear that doesn't suck?

Chaos Set exists in its
Chaos Set exists in its current form for one of three reasons:
1) The devs wanted to make something that looks cool but is pretty much terrible
2) The devs seriously overvalue a damage bonus that applies to all kinds of weapons and targets and/or want to discourage people from mixing weapon types
3) The devs wanted to make a "hard-mode" armor for people that don't want to run around in Proto but still want bragging rights

What Kalaina said, it makes a hardmode for spiralknights. Chaos set shouldn't have elemental defense though... it should have negative elemental, shadow, AND piercing. Cause it is kind of annoying when the hardmode set actually benefits you...
The damage bonus should stay though.

In conjunction with trinkets, it gives you the ability to use all weapons just as efficiently as someone would with mad bomber, shadowsun or skolver/snarb.

Personally I do plan on making a Chaos Set. With trinkets and shield i'll have
Sword Damage Max!
Sword CTR Med
Sword ASI Med
Gun Damage Med
Gun CTR Med
Bomb Damage Med
Bomb CTR Med
If I swap my BTS for a Swiftstrike, and my ASI Trinket for a Dmg Trinket, I'll have ASI High across the board.
A pretty awesome set considering I typically use swords, but also carry bombs and a gun.

Yeah I decided to make it when I found out its the ONLY set that gives CTR across the board.
Each piece used to have bonuses equivalent to what would be a today's Damage Bonus All: Medium and Charge Time Reduction All: Medium.
