As long as we keep spending money on their accessory and costume packs they will keep putting them out while keeping new content on the back burner. Great, now I can look sweet with my new dragon wings while playing the same old levels. BFD.... I was really hoping we would get these missions with the new pack, I guess we have to wait a couple more weeks. I for one refuse to purchase this new pack. And any subsequent packs until there is something new to play
This is all our fault
how is SEGA supposed to keep this game alive if there isn't any profits from it? >_>
I'm about 100% sure that they aren't keeping content generation on the back burner due to these promotions.
These items are almost 100% graphics artist effort (with maybe the exception of animating them). The graphics artist may not have had any other work since they are probably re-using all the monsters and levels graphics in this new mission system. Yea, there is a new king, so I guess he has a few things to work on, but either he is already done that, or it doesn't really matter because they aren't ready for the finished product yet. Not everyone does every job. As a programmer, I wouldn't touch graphic artist work since I suck at it.
OOO already stated that there was no ETA on the new mission system, so expecting it now was just giving yourself false hope. There are a lot of things we don't in this situation and you can't assume that the person who worked on these updates would also be the ones designing the other new game content.
To top it all off, things like the Sonic suit, Tails Tails, and Dragon Wings could have all been done at the same time weeks ago. They bring in a good amount of money (as obvious by the sheer quantity I see in game) and help fund other development.
I don't think any one can claim to know how much money this game makes or what people do behind the scenes nor should it be a topic of conversation. The bottom line is we are customers of OOO and have the right to rage complain about the fact that for the entire time that this game has been in existence they have only added shadow Lairs (cash grab) and PVP. If you frequented a restaurant that only served 4 items and never added any new ones but continued to make little updates to the decor would you continue to spend your money there?
How could we have been so blind? <-------Joke
you are the one talking about what they do behind the scenes. You are complaining that they are doing the WRONG things behind the scenes. I'm just explaining that there are multiple people and given the nature of projects it is likely that others are working on more game content.
Besides, you are totally wrong about what they have introduced to the game since it was officially launched. They added the Snarbolax on 6-2-2011. IMF was added on 7-6-2011. They added new monsters (polyps, howlitzer) on 8-22-2011. Candlestick keep & Challenge Rooms on 9-6-2011. Along with everything you mentioned and the Halloween event with the pumpkin king. So basically they've had a constant stream of new content except over the last 2 months. I joined in October, and it didn't take me long to browse the release notes to see that there have been a lot of updates to this game.
No, you as a customer does not give you the right to be an ass and rage complain. That is just being an ass. If you don't want to spend your money, then that is your prerogative, but it doesn't give you the right to rage.
And yes, I would go to the same resturant if they never changed their menu. I do it all the time and I go to other resturants for other menu items. The perfect example would be Panera Bread (my favorite restaurant). I love roast beef sandwiches and it is pretty much the only thing I buy there and they just recently changed the plates from plastic to glass.

While I am not a fan of this update, I will defend them when you're downright wrong.
Things that have been added since release:
Flourish line swords
Brandish lines advanced from 3* to 5*
Snarby added (giving BTB, DBB, and BTS line items)
Twins added (giving Pulsar, Catalyzer, Voltaic Tempest line items, making Quicksilver set easily obtainable and advancing it to 5*)
Blackened Crest added to Vana's token rewards
UV and Unbind shop
Shadow Lairs
Accessories
PvP added (giving Voltedge, Stagger Storm, and Freezing Troika lines. moved Troika line to 5* also)
Heart Trinkets added to PvP rewards
Polyps and Howlitzers
Drones
Candlestick Keep
Scenario Rooms
Completely changed out the Danger Rooms
And constant behind the scenes additions to the randomly generated levels. I have been playing since the month SK was released and I still occasionally encounter rooms that I have not seen before.
And to your question about the restaurant... yes, as long as I was in the mood for what they offered.
~Gwen
I can't say I'm a fan of this promo either. Aside from the fact I was hoping we'd get something in the vein of the Dark Harvest Festival, the fact we've gone from Explorer Packs, to Sonic CD to Chinese New Year promos over the last few months with no significant content updates is pretty saddening (Even if EU servers are the best update the game has recieved since its' release). I seriously hope the Mission system comes out by the end of next month at the latest.
^^ that's all I'm saying. This game has turned into an accessory/costume fest. After your 200th or so vana run you're praying for something new to do. If you're argument is "wtf are you talking about you idiot!?!? They added snarbolax!!" then please go do some snarby runs in your proto gear an stop posting here.

Your claim: The only new content added were Shadow Lairs and PVP.
This claim has already been disproved by Nordlead and Gwenyvier, therefore you barking on about them having a weak argument is just downright ridiculous. You made a claim, and you were wrong. SK had loads of new content since its launch, and just because the past 2 months, out of about 8 months, have been just CE packs and accessory stuff doesn't mean OOO has given up completely on new content.
Btw, it's "your" and not "you're".
Eurydice said, verbatim, promos are not offered "instead of" content. The dev team has been working steadily on missions. In parallel with that, some promos are offered. I'm amazed that a GM finialy made a comment in response to a complant, and people keep rambling on. I guess GM don't use the fourms not becuase they're lazy, but becuase they acknowlage no one will read what they write anyway. Eurydice is so much cooler than all of you nubs. She has swag.
Like Eury said in another thread, we're not getting promos instead of new content, we're getting them in parallel. Besides, these new costume items can't possibly take the devs so long to do that they've completely forgot everything else--OOO wouldn't lose money to wages like that. It takes a while to get new stuff going, especially with a relatively small team SK's got going on. If you don't like the promo, then don't get it, but saying that there hasn't been new content ever is blatantly not true.
Also that, restaurant thing? What restaurant have you been to that changes their menu ever month? None of the ones I've ever been to did that. SK has randomized levels too, so it's not even as bad as, say, McDonald's menus.
yup half the people here [tarting] about (ingame) CE prices beeing to high
other half [tarting] about them putting in a stupid item (and boosting income wich in turn equals to more development)
yes i'm also waiting for new content so i can start playing again... but if OOO wants to take their time and make it something good (or even better) and with as few bugs in it as possible i'm not going to [tart] about them taking that time.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I haven't found any of the content updates satisfying at all. You flamers need to chill out and stop kissing the devs ass with your comments. 'grisleor' my grammar is correct and resorting to flame me about that is pretty pathetic. If any of you are 5star players that have been running vana since you can remember and have all the items you want and are getting bored with the game then you understand where I'm coming from. If not then I don't care what you have to say.
lol "If you opinion isn't the same as mine, I don't want to hear what you have to say!"
-slowclap-
"If you're argument is "
That is not correct at all. You're means "you-are". You cannot say "You are argument". Well, I can't. At least not with a straight face.
"If any of you are 5star players that have been running vana since you can remember and have all the items you want and are getting bored with the game then you understand where I'm coming from."
Cough cough me. Well, still going after a wee bit of shadow lair items. Did you even read my post though? Eurydice said these were working in parallel to new content, not putting it on the backburnner. Then all the kids keep flipping out "WHERE ALL DA LEVELS AT," "WHERE ALL DA GM POSTS AT," then sit baffled that your requests arent fufuled, generaly becuase you guys act like jerks when you submit them! Everyone that disagrees with things like promo gear either acts like a ghetto trailer trash chick all "up in der face" with horrible grammar, or like a complete snobb saying things like "Psh, I, for one, refuse to buy this, 'pro-mo i-tem', and feel I should tell everyone about it and complain until they agree". For the most part, you seem like a little bit of both in my eyes.
People are saying we can't be sure how much SK makes, but since Sega acquired Three Rings I bet there's going to be some detailed financial statements showing how much they make.
Company websites also tend to release their yearly financial statements in an archive. This information is mostly for the benefit of the public so investors know what risks they are taking in a certain company's stock.
So I don't think the financial success of SK is as much of a secret as you think it would be.
Oops didn't see that, meh and I said everyones entitled to their opinion, doesn't mean I have to care about it. And you're right I didn't read your post, too long. And this was not a request, it was a rant. I'm not expecting the devs to come on here and do what I'm saying. I just wanted a place to voice my displeasure. I should have known the flamers would come out. But I don't really care this is fun.
"I should have known the flamers would come out. But I don't really care this is fun."
4Channer...
I don't know what 4channer means. I assume it's nerdspeak of some kind. Does it make you feel good about yourself when you join in with other people flaming a post? You feel like you're part of the flamer community? You're awesome
Players don't know the state of developement. I mean, every player but you. Only you are privy to the fact that new contents are on backburners.
Thank you for enlightening us.
"I don't know what 4channer means. I assume it's nerdspeak of some kind. Does it make you feel good about yourself when you join in with other people flaming a post? You feel like you're part of the flamer community? You're awesome"
Oh, sorry, I didn't Read your Post because it was too long. I just Read "You're Awesome."
And Yes, Yes I am.
Thank you for your contribution to the post. Anyone else?
You're the Same person as Technodragon, because it takes a Delay between your Posts in Both Threads.
I shall now continue to Simultaneously Post in Both Threads to Prove this, until a GM comes & Locks up these Posts.
It takes a delay because I'm doing it from my iPhone. You want to waste your time go ahead. You clearly have nothing better to do than going on every post to flame it. Keep up the good work forums officer
"Keep up the good work forums officer"
Actually, I'm the Coast Guard.
I wish I could say another word. I'm saddened that only the GMs understood my joke.
You people make me laugh, we have the forums officer and the GM priest. Well done guys
It's not pathetic to call you out on your grammar since, well, your usage of "you're" was indeed wrong. Furthermore, your argument initially had at least some weight behind it, but looking at the way you're posting now, it's just downright sad.
Well, this post I going to keep going until I get the last word. So you're welcome to continue posting if you want to keep it going. And thank you for at least acknowledging that I had a point buried somewhere in this post.
"Well, this post I going to keep going until I get the last word."

Actually, I changed my mind. I'm done with this when I said that I almost forgot I had a life. Enjoy
TL;DR after Myllakka ;)
And lol I can't say that you're right.
The devs (and GMs) Are obvious to the numerous threads about new content being wanted.
To be honest, this is how i see it:
The devs know that they need new content.
The devs are unsure what will keep the players (who WANT new content [End-Gamers]) happy for a while, and not bore them out within 20 runs for the new stuff.
For the time, thy throw in accessories. Everyone is happy and it keeps them busy for a long while.
While thinking what to release, they give us a bit of new accessories, primarily ones that will appease us.
We like the accessories that they made off the top of their heads in one workday, so those that want them buy them and stockpile.
OOO gets $$$ without doing much, and buys themselves (or more sells themselvs) some more time to work on a REAL challenge for us.
I will say this. We DID contribute to brining non-stop accessory updates, but its neither us, nor OOO fault.
The devs and players collaborated for a while, to ease any tension (I'm looking at you CE complainers)
They made some promos, and they will eventually set up an expansion.
The trick is: They don't want to "end" the story with the core, but they want to give a lot of new content all at once, instead of mini updates that will probably make everyone rage (since its not enough content for them)
They are making the missions, as Nick stated, and they are finishing them up ALL AT ONCE. to give them out ALL AT ONCE.
That's my two cents
~Xeirla
Why is it that there are some people who expect the devs of a game to continually release content for a game?
Jeppers. It's not like they have a vault of stocked up ideas somewhere and go: 'All righty, I think the players have raged enough. Lets pull out the Shadow lairs. We can release bigger story stuff after that."
I mean seriously? New ideas don't grow out all too easily. Storywriters like me should know about that. You have to think of an idea and develop it, before writing it down and modifying it. And after finishing the story, you're stumped. You poured all your ideas into that story, and then some guy comes along, reads it in 2 days then goes: 'That was cool. Write me another.'
Then comes the long process of looking through your story (or not) and finding new things that can be sprouted from it, then re-thinking and developing the ideas before writing a new story, while the person who asked for it is going: 'HAI. WHERE ARE MAI NEW CHAPTARZ!?'
Take a chill pill. Devs are just as human as everyone else in this world, and if they're working on something, THEN THEY'RE WORKING ON IT. Throw in ideas about what else they could do, or improve/tweak, but don't just sit there and say: "WHERE MAI NEW CONTENT!?"
The mini updates are just supposed to give us something shiny to look at while they try and come up with something else. Would you rather they left you hanging entirely?
TL;DR: Either contribute ideas or just wait. Things won't happen just because you say so. Ideas have to be raised from the initial spark of thought, and rushing that will just give you some half-baked mush the devs had to pull out from some dark corner because they were hurried.
Take this into consideration. you're a teacher and parents are criticizing your teaching although you're a great teacher.
I don't get it, Why don't you just take a break from the game are chat with other user's while waiting for the new content to be created, that what i do when I am waiting for it ^_^ besides the wings look really cool!
Think of it this way. Making a game is like writing a story, like Phsyco said. ANyways, you first have to make a rough draft, and a big idea. You have to find the beginning and the ending, and then find how to mak them connect. You try some stuff, see how people react to it, rinse, and repeat. and repeat. and repeat. until you have one thing that almost everyone likes. then, you put it out into the game/story, and listen to every rage about how long it took you to put it out, and that they don't like it, and that they want more content. and then you have to make even more new stuff, cause that was only one update.
TL;DR: I'd like to see you make a MMONRPG, Negro. Lets see how much new content that your players like that you can pump out in one year.
The weak arguments posted by a certain someone has given me probably the worst headache I have ever seen.
Please sir, go to a debate class and actually learn something before returning to argue on such an invalid point.
(In layman's terms) Go back to school.
The reason we've been getting lackluster content updates like this one is because THE DEVS HAVE BEEN BUSY WORKING ON AN AWESOME LOOKING MISSION SYSTEM!!!
Seriously though, it's not like they started doing that a month ago. They've probably been holding onto it for ages, testing it internally to see if it's even viable and ready enough for public consumption. So they got the art guys to churn out some cool stuff for people to purchase if they want to. It's not like it took anywhere near a significant amount of time from the main project: development of new content for the game. They've got to pay the bills, and if my free gameplay is subsidized by players who want to buy cool dragon wings, so be it.
TF2 regularly churns out cosmetic items and the community loves them for it, because they also release good content (in that game, balanced weapons, maps, etc.). SK is in the same boat, but they can't exactly release "half" of the mission update, so they've had to keep quiet while working on it.
The missions look cool and I can't wait for them. The reason I wrote this post is because I was hoping for the mission system to come out with the new update and when it didn't I was upset that all we got was another accessory. With the exception of a few posts I was appalled at the sanctimonious attitude of most people. Taking my ideas and words out of context and making assumptions about what I think or feel about this game or the developers makes it seem like you don't even read the posts or formulate your own ideas, your instant reaction is to praise the developers and protect them anytime someone criticizes any of their work in case they might read the thread. I see this on a lot of the threads, people sucking up to nick trying to get into his favor, it's pretty sad. Anyways, thank you to those of you that had well thought out posts. Now that the preview came out and I know that the missions are coming soon I'm happy.
What do players get by sucking up to Nick and devs? Do we get updates faster?
Most people, no matter their stance on your topic, don't like it when one person says my opinion is right, and if you disagree you are wrong. That, is why people respond harshly to your posts.
Especially how you say nobody should know the progress of developement, then follow up with comments on how things are on backburners and not cared about.
The missions look to be a pretty big update, so ofc it will take longer. You'd rather wait a bit longer for a large, polished update rather than get tiny, half-assed content adds that make you just feel like they're throwin' stuff at us just to keep us happy.
Also, as for the "the only do it because we buy it" is beyond obvious. But we buy it because we like it, and we like that they sell it, thusly they sell it because we like it, so they'll sell it knowing we'll buy it; everyone's happy. Two weeks later, huge content update and ice cream falls from the sky.
What I meant and should have said was 'seemingly on the backburner' I should have watched my words a little more carefully. This being my first thread I didn't realize that people would analyze every little thing I said and pick it apart.
S'not just "picking apart" by being over-semantic, it's correcting you. Even if you revise your wording, then still it's not "seemingly on the backburner", they're releasing more details regularly and not adding more content, implying that they're focussing on the missions. All implications are that the Missions are their prime task right now. Only difference is that they're giving us promos WHILE we're waiting, not INSTEAD of new stuff. Learn to just appreciate the opporttunity for some promos while we wait. Your other option is to have no content, no promos, no nothing and get to wait for the new content. What you gunna QQ about then?
A very apt analogy as I've seen first hand how absolutely moronic parents are with education.
Sometimes it makes me want to stop studying to be a teacher... but not for very long.
No, it's not correcting me. It's 'reductio ad absurdum' or taking what I said to te extreme and bashing it to try to prove your point or make your point more valid. Before the announcement today they did not give any indication that the mission system was their priority or how long it was going to take before its ready. Now that they have a lot of the things I said no longer apply. Now if you're happy with all of the costume promos you have the right to be, just like I have the right to not be. The fact is, I'm bored with the current game play content and I know a lot of other 5 star players are as well. That was the main point I was trying to make. If youre not bored of it then either you haven't played it enough or you really enjoy monotony
"and the GM priest."
I am but a sheep.
Alrighty then.
