Xbox 360 gamepad

Hi, I'm trying to get my gamepad to work in Spiral Knights. It's a standard, wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller, plugged into a USB port. It seems to be working properly, Windows tells me it is and it works in other games, but I can't get it to do anything in Spiral Knights. The wiki says it should work automatically after plugging it in, but as far as I can tell SK doesn't even detect it; it won't let me move, map keys to its buttons, etc.
Anyone have any ideas? If it matters, I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit.

I've tried plugging in the controller before starting the game, even plugging in and then doing a reboot before starting the game, nothing seems to work. I was hoping to figure this out without using something like Xpadder, since wired Xbox controllers are supposed to work, but I'll keep it in mind if I can't figure things out and no one else has any better ideas.

I have a Mad Catz wired
I have a Mad Catz wired controller and had to install drivers before it would work. Check out the microsoft website and download/install the PC driver for the gamepad.

Just tried my 360 pad. It works only if you plug it in before you launch the game.
Oddly it did not work automatically, I had to re-map the buttons in the Options menu. Once that was done I was busy running some beautiful circles.

Yay!
Hey guys, I finally got it to work. I did have to plug it in before starting the game, and I did have to remap the keys, though I'm pretty positive I tried that before and it didn't work. Anyway, it's working now. Thanks for the help!

I just tried it, and it worked. So I thought what I said had some truth to it ^.^
If all fails you could try downloading Xpadder. It lets you remap keys from say a keyboard and the mouse to the controller. If I have time I will hook up my Wireless controller and see if I have the same issue. I would also suggest restarting the game so when the game starts the controller is already detected. I know when I plug my controller in, I usually have to restart the program I want to use it with. Just tips from me.
