Does Steam have the same limit system?

So, is there a limit of how much CE you can purchase by using Steam?

Cause I know there is by using the website for non-steam players.

I'm pretty sure there's a limit in steam because my friend always hits it, making me buy CE for her.

I've heard of this but..

Spiral Knights starts with a spending limit of $100 a month, which you can extend by hitting said cap and:

A) Wait 30 days (from your first purchase)
B) Ask for an increase.

You can extend your limit up-to and beyond $800 from $400 to my knowledge, though I heard someone with that kind of a limit being halted by Steam's limit, which according to my source is $500. I am unsure if you can do anything about this limit, though.
