Been busy with real stuff, and haven't played in a few months, gonna start playing a bit again, would anyone mind telling me a few of the major things that happend in the last 5~ months? :D
I haven't played in a few months...whats new?
That's cold.
Anyway, welcome back to Cradle, Knight! I will brief you on some changes that might have occured in your absence.
Lockdown is here, arms-to-arms Player-versus-Player mode played out in a Capture & Control fashion. Games are segregated into tiers as not to overpower the lesser equipped contestants with Vanguard-tier geared Knights, the goal is to reach the different control points scattered around in the various three and five-point arenas, hold them without enemy involvement to capture them and earn enough points to win the game. Fight your opponent with cunning approaches utilizing the three different class-mods that replace your shield for an entirely new combat experience. Participating Knights receive Krogmo Coins to spend with Sullivan in the Arcade.
A new threat has been discovered; the Shadow Lairs invite experienced Knights who have the energy to afford the pricery Shadow Keys to loot the spoils of these new, overhauled boss-areas. Face off with the Rabid Snarbolaxes, Ice Queen, Red Roarmulus Twins and Darkfire Vanaduke as you trek through their nasty, re-arranged lairs and discover an area that sends chills through even the sturdiest of warriors.
Lastly, we've had the introduction of drone-type enemies, that move around in set patterns. Watch your step, as they inflict specified damage and a range of status effects if you cross their paths.
Missions should be on their way, hopefully sometime soon. Meanwhile, why don't you energize yourself and acquire a lively pair of dragon wings in celebration of the Year of the Dragon?
I find it sad you managed to sum up the new content that quickly. I love creative ways of retreading past areas, but I fear the missions won't add much new to the game beyond a bit of context (which is good, but it's not new content), or really smart enemies that give you a challenge. They are all sort of one trick enemies (although I think it would be really fun to play as a Trojan), and their only real threat is when there are many of them as with a few areas in FSC.
Sorry to sound negative, but I returned after a while to find very little new [content to play] in one of my favorite games of 2011. Maybe one day there will be some sort of level editor for community submitted, dev-approved content. It's the only way I can see this game achieving a decent update schedule with their small team.
+1 Shidara
But of you use the forums, you should always remember to check the Announcements.
Just saying
Not nearly as much as I was hoping for.
It never is for any game, isn't it?
Except for Terraria. Those were impressive updates.
Well, you shouldn't judge. Spiral Knights hasn't even had its one-year anniversary after its Beta-release, and I have no idea of how much money it takes to make an update, especially big ones, and how much work and man-power they have available to work with and lastly the time it takes. Important factors that can really put a lot of impact on update frequency and content-polishing. Personally, I don't have the greatest expectations simply because it's new and it needs time to keep growing, so I can't really compare this to another MMO I know which has extremely frequent updates.
Just my thoughts anyhow.
