I have, right now, a Barbarous Thorn Blade. I love it a lot, but i feel like i need some more status effects in my arsenal. Whenever i see someone with a Fearless Rigadoon, i watch and follow him/her with awe... I really want to get one. However, a good amount of people tell me that it practically NEVER stuns... Is this true? I need some info on how much it actually stuns... (First Swing:__, Second Swing:__, Third Swing__, Charge:__, etc.).
Fearless Rigadoon
From what I heard (I don't actually own it because it's bad), the chance of stun is about 10%, which is low. It doesn't counterbalance at all the loss of damage. I don't know why you would be impressed by a Rigadoon since BTB does better. If you are talking about a Flourish (Final Flourish) the damage and normal attack pattern are exactly the same, only the charge is different.
With a piercing sword, everything dies so fast it's not worth having a status.
If you want some status in your arsenal, I advise you to look at Haze bombs. They are GREAT. You can also look at alchemers or brandishs if you also want some good damage.
I have a Fearless Rigadoon. It's easily the most fun weapon I've ever used. It stuns about once every ten swings - I can usually keep the first phase of Vanny perpetually stunned. It has this tendency to kick in exactly when you need it most. Charge has the same chance to stun as the normal attacks, but you will almost never use a flourish charge attack anyway.
The damage penalty compared to the Final Flourish and Barbarous Thorn Blade is less significant than the wielders of those swords will tell you. At worst, it'll take one more swing to kill a Trojan, which isn't that bad of a deal when the Trojan can't even turn around.
The stun-messes-with-attack-animations bug is annoying at first, but you will quickly learn to just not attack stuff head-on... which is a good idea no matter what sword you're using. It can become a problem when fighting Vanny and Trojans, who will most likely be facing your teammates, though. Just give them a heads-up so they can move or shield when the target start attacking.
One thing, it's not quite as good in Lockdown. It's quite useable, and the stun will absolutely ruin another player (and produce some priceless reactions), but taking one extra hit to down a player is significant. Consider using a sword damage trinket to make up the difference.
Don't listen to people who tell you only the Final Flourish and Barbarous Thorn Blade are worth using. Fearless Rigadoon is a notch harder to use, but the stun is useful enough to make up for it.
(Now the Furious Flamberge... that's useless! Take a damage penalty for the chance to make it up with fire? Lol!)
I can say from experience that the Flamberge line is perhaps the finest piercing sword to use against slimes and constructs.
Kaiseryoshi, thanks for your comments on the FR. I'm one of those people who recommends FF or BTB, but I've never used the other two, so I appreciate seeing an opinion from an actual user.
Nicoya-Kitty, thanks for that too. :)
But why would you use a piercing sword against a constructs or slimes in the first place? Since they are far from weak to it. I find FoV much better for those.
Nicoya-Kitty knows that. He (or she) is well-known for defeating the Royal Jelly with just piercing weapons, to prove that he can.
They are correct in saying that it is awful and almost never stuns. I have both a BTB and a Fearless Rigadoon, and the Rigadoon is just a pointlessly weaker version of the Final Flourish/Barborous thorn blade.
I made a thread about buffing the bad versions a while ago, but people didn't like the idea of it. Probably because of how awful the good versions of them are in lockdown.
dont know much about rigadoon line, but id say that fire goes better than stun.the flamberge line is lovely as a piercing sword.i dont see how people can say that flamberge, and rigadoon for that matter, dont cause the status any.my flamberge inflicts the fire quite often.but,it kinda comes down to preference of status between these two swords, tho they arent exactly the best piercing swords, but work just fine.

I believe it has a chance to stun on every hit, the charge is just the combo, but stronger/faster.
A better reason not to get it is that stun is buggy, makes enemies double attack if you stun them while they are in the attacking animation. And the flourish, being pure piercing, is more focused on dealing massive amounts of damage, so final flourish is prefered. Either that, or a flamberge, the fire status flourish.
