Oh, I guess they can find me in the clockworks

So earlier in another thread I mentioned I didn't have trouble with beggars because it was hard for them to find me when I spend 99% of my time in the clockworks. However, I would like to retract that statement, as it seems that I spoke too soon.

You see, earlier today I jumped into a random party on the RT gate looking to skip a few levels. Of course, just my luck, the loading screen came up "Depth 9 - Cooling Chamber: Infernal Passage". But oh well, T2 goes pretty quickly at least.

The party I jump into just has one other guy in it, wearing an odd mishmash of gear, and I noticed that his energy icon was red. I didn't think much of it other than to wonder how he'd managed to waste so much of it already, and just started slaughtering those snowball-chucking devilites with my new favourite-sword-of-the-day: my vile striker (which is surprisingly effective against the little buggers).

After a little while I notice in the chat that the other fellow was politely requesting me to tab him. Well, that's not quite right, it was more like "tab me or I kick you". I ignored it and carried on; after all, getting kicked would just mean waiting around for 10 seconds while the level re-loaded and then continuing on my merry way.

We get to one of those tiles with the 900 gates and those gear switches, and this charming little chap manages to get himself owned by a howlitzer. Of course he laid there quietly without a single word of complaint while I cleaned up the monsters and made my way over to him to share my hearts and steal some of his heat. No, wait, that's not right either: I ignored him for a while, killing some other monsters, as he said things like "get over here and rev me you idiot".

Eventually I make my way over to him and kill the howlizter that had given him so much trouble. As I'm standing over him, he repeats his humble plea of "f*ing rev me already". I decide at this point to break my silence, and tell him "certainly, I'd be happy to revive someone as kind and polite as you", and then proceed to not revive him at all, and instead go solo and leave him dead on the ground.

Kids these days...

Yeah.

I find it to be incredibly aggravating that people will join a party with only 10 energy left, with the express purpose of begging to get tabbed. Joining for one level then leaving, I'm fine with. In fact, since I have an elevator pass I might actually tab someone if they maybe ask, but don't beg, and don't hold up everyone else while begging.
I also require them to be halfway competent. I only get people low on energy who fulfill this requirement once in a blue moon. Funny thing.

Some people are just born annoying.

Its how others deal with those annoying ones that make the difference.

Nice revenge shot. However, this its things like these that made me solo long ago.

Although I'm not averse to letting friends into my solo games. Usually they're there to get a boost by bypassing the non-profitable odd numbered stratums. :P

Clockwork beggars are the most infuriating ones of all, especially when they're the leader. I've had one person who refused to get onto the elevator until someone tabbed him (even though his icon was blue), one who refused to rev people until they gave him money, and one who messed up the switches on RT on purpose because we didn't give him energy before. The worst, though, was this one guy who joined his friend right at the end of the level before RT, sees that we're about to get on, and threw an epic fit about wasting his energy and demanding that we pay him back. Um, hello, you joined, none of us invited you!

Sheesh, it really takes all sorts, doesn't it?

Just today on my first

Just today on my first Clockworks run, I loaded into Moorcroft and was looking at my group. I thought it was a nice group, we had a guy who was over geared, a newbie to t2 and I think someone else. But then suddenly its just me and the newbie. I was confused what prompted them to leave in such a rush when I realized the guy begging away.

I followed suit and happily soloed the first few floors before getting another group.

I think the worst are the ones who hold the group hostage at the end of the run begging for stuff. And just everyone's luck he's the party leader.
Being rude and wanting a rez is a close second.

Funny story

My brother was in an FSC party yesterday with a guy in Azure Guardian. The dude also had an Aegis, Leviathan, and Avenger. Because he had no fire resist on his shield or armor (or any sort of status resist at all), he died a lot. My bro and another guy had near-full health, and they could have revived him, but he insisted on reviving himself with energy. By the time Vanaduke fell, the guy had spent about 1k CE on reviving. Then after they rode the elevator, he started demanding people to pay him back. The most hilarious 3 lines:

"ok one of u give me 5k ce because i had the wrong gear and managed to finish the battle"

"woah dude u look like ur rich can you give me a free crest of almire with 3 uvs"

"wtf, u guys should have revived me if u didn't want to pay!!!!" - and this was hilarious because he instantly revived himself every time he died

Needless to say, my bro instantly went solo and rofl'd.

I rofled at all of these.

Nice handling of them though. People like that don't even deserve notice.

Not a begger, but I once added this guy (a friend of a friend) who had better gear than me, yet always died more easily than me.

EVERY SINGLE TIME, he's go 'F*** lag' or 'FML this F*** lag is driving me F*** nuts' or something to that effect, then immediately demand I revive him. Even with other party members, he acted like he was a valuable asset to the group, although he wasted most of our HP instead.

I joined him at his insistence once, because he had died, and a friend of mine decided he wanted to come too. Somewhere along the way, he died, and we found the lift. I decided to go and revive him, because your fight for survival had taken us some way from his corpse. The guy I joined then told me to hurry up and get on the lift. I told him I was going to revive the other guy (I know about the rev down the lift thing) so he could keep his heat, then next thing I know:

"Get on the lift or I kick you."

Fortunately, the other guy was a good sport about it and told me to get on the lift; he'd be fine. Nevertheless, I went up and deleted him from my list immediately.

@Nicoya: OI! 15 years old and offended at your generalization! >:(

Kidding. People my age can be complete...definitive words fail to describe, so I won't try.

On a serious note, the majority of people I know are more likely to say: 'You say I'm not mature? I'm a bigger man than you, I'll bet my P***s is bigger than yours' or something to that effect.

Geez, boys my age normally think only with what's in their pants and less with what slush they have for brains.

I am long time player, as so iv encounter a few lets just say down right wrong situations. Like once after i told someone no{for the 5th time} i wont give them 800 ce they told me I should be ra9ed, ya that was the worst thing it all most made me quit the game, but the sere stupidity of it I mean People don't ask me for stuff any more they demand it from me. But people think hey she has some munnys lets go beg her for it in stead of working for it our selves.
Okay its common knowledge I got some munnys on my hands But some times I wish I could just give it all away in fact I did once and well that didn't help ether people still wanted munnys or were mad because I gave it to some one else. I really kan't win can I?

Here's mine

I randomly joined a party who was in D25 of FSC. They were speaking to each other in Russian and completely ignoring me. That's fine, just did the rooms as per normal.

Then after we hack the crystals and are about to get on the elevator, party leader sends me a tell "Can you please tab me?" I say no and he repeats it twice before giving me an ultimatum "tab me or kick -_-"

I said, "ok, sure" and went solo.

And the guy wasn't even out of energy... what.

Lol

I suppose I am a little crude to randoms but mostly I just join and go solo. I joined once during an arena, in which all three people were dead and screaming at me to revive them, though I finished it alone. I stay mostly for the heat (lol) but sometimes I don't revive them on purpose.Though several times when I asked people to do RJ(my favorite boss when I was in 4 star) with me they would say ''Only if you tab me'' but I guess that was back when FSC was 'the bomb' but more people do rj now because they finally got bored of fsc. Once my ''friends'' or should I say fiends all wanted me to tab them all three of them. There was also the fact I was kicked from Vanaduke because they wanted someone with blitz even though I needed heat, but the funny thing was that none of them had it either. Also reminds me once I was kicked from a guild for not giving a poision vile to someone, so I went solo and killed JK solo for the first time. That made them even more mad lol.

I can't believe it took you

I can't believe it took you this long to see clockwork beggars. I've had plenty of people beg for tabs even though they have enough energy (probably out of mist though). I mostly see them in T2, and rarely in T3.

My favorite kinds of beggars are the ones that ask if I can do them a favor. I tell them I don't do favors, but I'll kindly do something if they pay me. They walk away :-D At least they aren't rude about it like the beggars that get upset if I don't respond to their tell.

*AHEM* :)

party in snarby, not that i need to do snarby, but i wanted a snarble barb ^_^

couple of noobs...we do alright, even tho i'm blazing through, running through spikes and stuff because it barely damages me.

we are slowed down a bit because the others actually have to avoid traps <-----(Joke), but we eventually make it to the boss stage.

the party leader gets are tough as demands that i pay him or he will kick me and i will have to solo.

i told him i could solo snarby with my eyes closed, and then, after some {Polite conversing} he pays me 100 crowns to stay :D

needless to say, he died within the first 20 seconds and then demanded that i revive him.

i ignored him because he was being really mean to the other newbie in my party(calling him stupid for dying and threatening him) and finished the boss off.

at this point, i was alive with full health and the other 2 people were dead.

i revived the nice newbie and ignored the other guy, then told the newbie to kindly solo, then take your rewards, then i did the same :)

Do you think it was mean of me to leave the other guy unrevived and w/o getting the token for him? (especially because he had no energy left)

Or do you think it was justified by his mean behavior? :/

At least when I ask to be put on a tab I pay the person with crowns when doing so.

Yeah, this is what I often do too. It makes me feel crappy when I have to ask to be tabbed, so I try to make up for it by giving them like 1-2k. I hate being a burden, so I try to lessen it.

Do you think it was mean of me to leave the other guy unrevived and w/o getting the token for him? (especially because he had no energy left)

Or do you think it was justified by his mean behavior? :/

Well, they always say that "Two wrongs don't make a right", but the way I see it is that the mean person is never going to change for the better if we just let them get by with it. There must be some sort of punishment(Nothing SUPER serious, but definitely something that'll make them think otherwise before being jerkish). I guess the preferred way would be just to turn-the-other-cheek and rev him, but again, the jerk doesn't learn a single thing and is probably going to continue acting like a jerk. =/

It's a pretty gray area in my opinion.

i dont mean to brag but....

I can promise you this story will top all of yours, so here it is;
I was on a T3 run with some friends (on my old account) and there was this one guy with some pretty amazing stuff, we thought he would be good so we started our run. We soon learned we were very very wrong. He died every 30sec (literally) so we decided to stop reviving him, but then he kept screaming at us to reviving. So i kicked him, but thats hardly all. He must've rememberd my old user name so he whispered me right after i kicked him saying, "Ur such a F***ing noob ur terrible (and other such rudeness)". i didnt reply and after a minute or so he said, "If you dont reinvite me i'll report you till u get banned" Of course i didnt believe him so i ignored him. Then 10 minutes later i was kicked off my account with a message saying "You have been banned because of....(i cant remember exactly but you get the point)" I lost everything on that account and i spent a good 50$ on it too. :'(. now i use this account but still wish i had my old one back.

Kids these days:

- get extreme rage problems from playing too much Call of Duty
- overuse stupid memes (memes are meant to be funny but it's just stupid when like 99% of youtube comments are about some idiot taking an arrow to the knee
- brag about the size of their p***s
- cuss like sailors and think it makes them cool
- don't know their own language (you don't have to have perfect grammar, but some people can't spell ANYTHING)

Not trying to bash Western society or stereotype people but if you displayed any of the previously listed characteristics in an East Asian country people would assume you have developmental problems or something…

I get all sort of odd

I get all sort of odd situations when clearing fees. I try to keep my mouth shut and blow through the levels as fast as possible. If I'm not the leader, I'll give the group an honest go before soloing. I've only been held hostage once from a guy who wanted to do some selling to me on the elevator...which was odd. Never been held hostage by the leader tho.

Also, if I'm under T3 and a tagalong is CE revving, I don't life-split. If a tagalong is a chatterbox...well, that usually ends up with said knight also being a beggar, so I have little patience for them. I tell em to keep quiet and they'll get where they want to go.

eh, yea. there's a complete lack of politeness and good sportsmanship on SK. I'm so glad I got all the Sullivan recipes, so I don't have to play in another LD match with a Skolver/toothpick/CR revver who spent 30Kce+ on gear, laughs every time he kills someone and smack-talks at the end. I honest-to-god hope my Guild becomes interesting to them, so I can immediately shoot them down.

I apologize on Behalf of the rest of the teens...

Yes, many of the teens these days have very degenerated manners (occasionally myself inclusive, sadly...) Nonetheless, I apologize for them. We really aren't that bad, it's just that we're misguided. Our misguidedness leads us to sometimes act like....donkey behinds. And, these donkey behinds will someday run the world, so best to remember that our generation requires you guys to discipline (and spank) us, especially if we live a Louis-XIV lifestyle and have everything given to us on a silver platter.

Anyways, my fail looks something like this:
Third round of the arena before the IMF. My really noobish teammate kept running straight into the spikes and refused to dodge the Alpha Wolvers and Mecha Bots. Three times he died, and each time he cried (almost literally) until someone revived him. A different person in my party revived him each time. The fourth time, we were all low on HP because of the darn mecha bots and from reviving him, so we didn't bother to revive him because he was just going to die after another 10 seconds. The guy spammed to absolutely no end. During the final wave of 12 mechas and some healers, I was the only one alive with 5 bars. He begged to no end about reviving him, and when I walked right through him and revived the strongest member of team, he kicked me out. 20 seconds later, he told me to come back, revive him, and beat the rest of the mechas, because the other guys had left.

I then realized the game had an ignore function. BEST FUNCTION EVER.

I really can't stand a-wipes like that. I've seen my fair share in other games that I play. Anyways, if he didn't suck so bad, he wouldn't need to beg you to revive him...

Idiot.

Anyways, revisiting the beggers thing.... I get far too many people begging me for stuff. It's so annoying, I wish I could just disable my chat box. And block people from repeatedly trade requesting. :/ I openly tell people politely that I do not wish to trade, but they keep asking me to the point where I try to run away from them. They follow me. :| It continues until I go to a new server, or go into the clockworks.

And also, being that I'm not part of a guild, (the last one I was a part of disbanded cuz my friends wanted to join Impervious) I get far too many people bothering me to be in their guild. I don't want a guild at the moment. Possibly not ever.

It's very hard not to be bothered at all in this game, I swear. :p

There was a proto guy there, who saw my 5* stuff and immediately said: "Can u gime a sword plzz?". That was enough for me, and i dropped the party. A while later, i decided to try again. I fell AGAIN on depth 0, and the SAME guy was there, with more proto guys who barely could kill a snarbolax. That guy said: "Mir, can u give me CE?". I cursed the divines and accepted my fate:
-Dude, i will stick with u guys, but dont beg for stuff. I hate it.
-But i am not begging. I will pay
-How much?
-400 cr for 100 ce
-The market price is 610 : 10
-Then bai u nub

*He kicks me*

I feel like I should add you to my friends list, Nicoyah, but last I recall your list is full, and it seemed really weird without having actually met me in game <.<. It might seem like I would be trolling, and I normaly prefer to add people that I've actually played well with in the clockworks.

But speaking of personal experiances, I really do hate it when people are just rude like that, whether they're expecting you to revive them or another reason. One I recount the most often isn't really about a begger but a guy who was just plain rude, and not just in your usual manner. We were a party of four, and in the midst of a jelly, and one party member was consistantly going idle, especially during and after fights. It was a bit irritating, and I might have put it off it wasn't for his excuse: he was, get this, playing two games at once. Yes, that's what he said, and the other game was Quake or unreal tournament; can't remember it exactely. he wanted to apparently figure out what game he wanted in a very short time. He was quite rude when we commented on this, going "Are you trying to act like my mom."

I tried to politely reason with him, but gave up when he talked back to the other party members. And from I can recall, he was the party leader; so eventually, confered that one of us go solo and then the other two join up, leaving the jerk alone. And things were so much better afterwards.

A thought

They should fix it so that rejoining on the same floor in the same instance costs no CE (or is it already free?). After all, rejoining on the same instance, same floor already keeps your last recorded HP status. This would also be a workaround for the party leader being a jerk- when you go solo, have a checkbox that allows you to invite any of the other party members. It pops up a "You have been invited!" notification to the party members you selected, who can then join you in your copied instance free of charge (although they will still lose heat right now- another issue that needs fixing). This could be done so that the invites are valid even if going solo restricts the party- after all, they were already in the party to begin with.

Psssh the beggars you guys

Psssh the beggars you guys got were amateurs. I'm not sure if this got fixed or not but from what I remember this is how a pro would go about holding a party hostage:

1. Be the party leader.
2. Find and grab a key that opens a gate blocking progression of the level.
3. Hold the Key and start making demands.

If people decide to go solo they will be stuck because the key will not respawn in the new level so the only options left to them is either return to haven or give in to the demands.

Kid's these days in a nutshell.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ij7l8vOaS8

..Well not all of them. I've seen and met some pretty chillin' people younger than me. Heck, one of the GM's in my guild was only 14 years old, but I never saw him act like any of the kids in these stories. The thing about maturity tho, just because you are older than some of the players here, it does not mean you are mature. I've seen some 28 year olds in SK act like kids. It's a matter of chance finding people you know you can have fun playing with.

Random trade requests

I usually take that opportunity to leave my trade window open, but in a random amount of CE, and go make a sandwich. Sometimes, I'll put in crowns, too, and go to the washroom.

I don't care about people standing around in haven saying "gief meh crons pl0x" but the second you start interrupting what i am doing (trade request pop ups) i get upset.

@Mirmulnir

why would you go to T1 to clear access fees for FSC? Just go to T2 and pay 200cr once every 8 days. If I'm going to do general clockworks I'll go to a T3 stratum for much better pay and material output.

Oh, and with T1 you typically join the same group over and over again unless you are joining the gloaming wildwood gate.

EDIT: I've left the trade window open for random trade requests. I just continued chatting since the trade window doesn't stop you from chatting :-D
