Don't change bodies

The Spiral Knights aren't of human proportion, trying to make a knight fit into the body shape of a human female wouldn't work.

chubby knights

I have a feeling if we tried to give our Knights wider butts we'd just end up with chubbier looking Knights. which won't completely suck though.

The eyes thing will probably

The eyes thing will probably come out as more accessories for people to get from lockboxes. I'm sure OOO already has that slated for some time this year. Why change the character models? There already are distinctively male and female looking armour sets. If you are dead set on looking male or female, just wear those.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure different eyes already exist as accessories. I believe they are called face type accessories in the game.

I have always thought

the Spiral Knights were the military branch of a larger civilization, and that their ship just went off course from the other colony ships. The army is either:
A) predominantly male, meaning creating female garb simply for the few girls would be a waste of time
or
B) making the huge difference between male and female soldiers seems silly in combat situations, as functionality is more important than fashion.

If this is truly a military organization, I don't think much worry would be put up into making sure everyone knows whos who -- instead just making sure their soldiers stay alive.

plus how would you want that armor to look? because girl armor is a very... VERY slippery slope.

@Nodocchi

If the eyes existed as an accessory, they'd most likely be rare, like the glow, and hence, expensive. Having only rich players allowed to display their gender? That isn't any different from what it is now already, with vog coat + blazebreak helm, or some sort of plume or flower accessory.

All players should be able to easily and cheaply display their gender, to avoid confusion. That is the goal of this thread. It doesn't necissarily have to be armour, but it has to be something.

I just read the whole

I just read the whole thing.

+100 to eyes!

Also, I remember seeing a post about how guys will annoy girls if they see their gender, I say this is good! I mean, that's another way to weed out (Report) all of the immature people playing. A haven with slightly less amount of immature people sounds PRETTY good to me.

Also, WHY are you all interested in this? Does it really matter what gender we are?

I probably would like some armours specifically for male/female though.

Would love it if the

Would love it if the pigtails/ponytails on certain helmets could be turned on/off somehow (mostly cos the fiery breaker line is kinda nifty but sooo girly, blech), but generally I like that everything is ambiguous. It's quite possible to look decidedly feminine or masculine as is, if you really want to. I don't think I'm capable of understanding why you would, though.

I've a spiral demo helm+regal plume/radiant silvermail combo lying around because a guildmate of mine wears something similar and I like to imitate people. Was hanging out in Haven with her for a bit, got talked to by randomers. Don't like the sort of attention looking female brings. :/ It wasn't rude or anything, it was just... Different from what a neutral appearance gets.

Ohalso,

"All players should be able to easily and cheaply display their gender, to avoid confusion."

I'm not sure what confusion this would avoid, considering how many guys typically like to have feminine looking characters. And vice versa, I suppose. Don't disagree that it should be possible, though.

They need to have SOMETHING

They need to have SOMETHING to distinguish girls, besides the very few items like angelic raiment and stuff. If i was a girl, i would not like to be mistakened for a dude at all. if OOO doesn't believe in genders, then why did they make the angelic raiment which is clearly fem??? I would like them to have a male and fem version of each armor, but if they could ATLEAST let us change our eyes and have some fem looking eyes, i'd be happy.

Forget the idea of eye

Forget the idea of eye accessories, that sounds like you're throwing stuff into your eyes to look good.

Just make it possible to choose/change your eyes, both at the creation screen, and at Boost. All OOO'd really need to do then is just make the textures for the eyes, which even I've been able to do.

Angry eyes, sad eyes, happy eyes, oval eyes, derpy eyes...Something like what the forum avatars show.

That'll kill two birds with one stone: Make seperate eyes for mens and ladies, and to have a wider range of eyes.

@Mejezfeld "(...) guys have

@Mejezfeld
"(...) guys have wider shoulders and narrower bottoms (and a less rounded shape overall)"

I'm male yet I'm very rounded shape overall. I'm one of those people who don’t have a waist. I have an equator. When I fold my arms over my chest, it looks as if two cachalots had prostrated themselves over a whale.

Actually, now when I'm thinking about it, who cares about gender? Corpulence is what really matter. If you want to look feminine there are several armours, helms and accessories you can chose from, but if you want to look corpulent you got nothing but demo suit! I have to write a petishon about it!

Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go round.
