Make the alpha wolver attack buff meaningful

So alpha wolvers can do a bark thingie where they give an attack buff to nearby wolvers. This attack buff is, honestly, kind of pathetic though, just increasing the damage of their regular, boring, easily-dodged one-bite attack.

To improve this, I think that buffed wolvers should gain the ability to do an alpha-style 3-bite attack, and buffed alphas should gain a limited tracking ability during their attack (along the lines of a T2 rocket puppy projectile).

Strangely, when I started to read "To improve this", I was just about to post "It should give them tracking abilities", when I completed reading your post. lol

Nice idea, though T2 rocket-puppy homing is a bit sloppy. I assume that was the point in mentioning them, so tracking Alphas wouldn't have 360-degree-haxx-tracking.

+1.

I wouldn't say three bites,

I wouldn't say three bites, otherwise one lucky bark and the whole wolver level would just turn into a ton of alpha's tracking you from all sides. I agree with the tracking though, and maybe just increase the damage buff along with that.

@Severage Yeah, the idea is

@Severage Yeah, the idea is to have the tracking making them harder to dodge, but not "you're royally screwed if you're within range when the attack starts".

@Aemicus The regular wolvers wouldn't get the tracking, only the straight-line three-bite attack.

I'd say...

Leave the tracking up until the attack starts? There should be just enough time to get out of the way when you notice: "Oh $#%$ That wolver's gonna bite!"

So the bites themselves won't track, but the wolver can adjust it's direction up until it actually starts biting.

And for the regular wolvers with the buff, reduce to two bites? I think there still should be some large-ish difference between an actual Alpha wolver and a regular wolver on it's high.

Ya think?

Your comment reminded me of that evil smart-missile firing invincible rocket puppy in one of the key rooms in FSC. (shudder)

@Hexzyle:

My apologies, you'll have to forgive my knack of recalling to others their most dreaded memories.

On a side-note (Or..rather the main note), I think Psycho is in the right direction. Perhaps the Alphas which are in a pack would have better tracking abilities than the regular wolvers?

As long as the regular wolvers don't burrow like it's the Ice Age in the North Pole, I don't mind. :D
