How do you deal with Devilites?

I've been having trouble with T3 Devilites recently, more so because lag sometimes hampers my shielding. Do any of you have an efficient way to deal with Devilites?

My usual setup is Angelic Set + Sinister Skelly Shield + piercing sword

AND NO, THIS IS NOT A "NERF DEVILITES" THREAD.

Always try to straife and

Always try to straife and avoid running in straight lines around these fellows. Their attack, believe it or not is very easy to sidesteap rather than range or dodge "in response to".

Also single swing + shield cancel.

If he can't shield reliably, then he can't sidestep reliably, latency, brah.

Draw them out one by one

When I play alone, I usually put up my shield, then sneak towards their area just close enough that I can get one or two to notice me and start barrelling towards me.

Then, keeping the shield up, back away and lure them away from the crowd. Once away, do what Luke said in his final sentence until they're dead.
Rinse and repeat until only the green and boss ones are left, which would not be much problem at all.

This is my way of dealing with one of my most hated species in the game (they cause the most lag when there's a lot of them in the screen apart from the jellies).
But then, this strategy would only work if you're playing alone. In a party, usually the rest would just barge in and getting themselves spammed by whatever the little devils have in hand to death. And the worst thing is, they'll barge after you next.

So yeah, my thoughts on the matter ;p

Thats why you do it by

Thats why you do it by default rather then having to make the correction in response to said flying chairs or office supplies. They are very bad at hitting anything that approaches or flees them in anything other then a straight line.

Simaler to when you rush a T2 gunpuppy you never run right at it because you know youll wind up having to eat or shield the middle shot. Once they begin to attack point A and B are already determined, just make sure to zig zag at them or come in on a non linear angle.

You're doing it wrong, they

You're doing it wrong, they need to suffer.

- First set them on fire (because they also NEED to burn... and so you get aggro). Use Ash.
- Distract your swordies by bumping a few kats that actually have aggro on you their way and yelling: "omg help i hav no ele weapon". They usually love that .
- If someone else made too many of the devilites aggro, circle around and drop a DBB or something to get aggro of the survivors back.
- Circle around a bit further. When you have enough room to fall back, drop a vortex. Then RUN so they follow you and end up inside the radius.
- Run back to your devilite-washing-machine. Not directly: Be sure to make a slight curve because lots of stuff might come flying out of the thing.
- Shoot left and right of the vortex with a gun so the ones that didn't walk into the vortex earlier jump into it "for cover" now.
- When close enough, start charging your vortex again shortly before the devilites throw. Because you will most of the time get hit at this point anyway and timing is critical, just run into a flying toaster at the right moment and use the duration of your "blinking invulnerability" to make sure your bomb charge is ready exactly at the right point, to drop another vortex.
- Watch the survivors go round and round while you circle around them, charging your acheron.
- If you're lucky, you can charge into the vortex and still have some left over devilites to shred with DBB, before the swordies are done chasing the kats and quickly kill everything else left in the room.

I let my allies hold aggro

I let my allies hold aggro while I one-shot a pack of them with my Blitz Needle. When soloing I have to take them out 1-3 of them at a time.

This works...

Go in there and kite with DBB, or use a DBB and shiver combo, shiver and sword combo... Ninja behind them, and then kamikaze.

I like to learn their spawn

I like to learn their spawn points. Charge a BTB and unleash that where 3 or so spawn and kill all of them with one shot.

outside of that, I strafe around and in and then kill them with my BTB. If you are always walking around them they won't be able to hit you. Sorta like circling turrets. Once you can get your sword on them they won't be able to attack at all since they are easy to interrupt.

If you can, stay at range. If

If you can, stay at range. If you're at a certain distance, you can shield, dodge, etc on the short notice you get when they attack. They don't lead their shots, so as long as you're far enough away, and moving, you'll be fine. The problem then, of course, is retaliating.

The DBB and AP are very good ways to take care of fiends solo, though the AP will take some time. It's a very bad idea to try using the Blitz Needle solo unless you really know what you're doing. Blitz charges are good in a party when you don't have agro, DBB is also good in a party (as well as solo). AP in a party, however, is likely to annoy the heck out of your mates (too much forced dodging), so avoid that in a group.

Another way to put it is to fight like they do. Attack from range and dodge like crazy. That's the safest way to fight them, anyway.

If you're taking on a single devilte, swords are good. Any single attack will interrupt theirs. If you're not fighting just one, be very careful, and do single swipes and shield cancels. You don't have enough time to shield at that range and not enough room to dodge, should some wayward office worker you didn't see decide to fling a floppy disk at you.

Major fail

Tried to survive the Devilish stage at D25 new gate. Died first time and revved, only to die again due to lag tsunami that's been hitting Asian players lately.

/rageface

I suggest you just hold off playing SK till you lag less. Nuff said

I usually bring a Shiver in groups and play crowd control. If someone else has a Shiver, then I just sneak up behind a cluster and go to town with shield-cancelled BTB, or with charges if they're more spread out. When I solo, I inch in and lure out a couple, kill them, and then rinse + repeat.

I know someone who runs around and waits for a bunch of the devilites to turn green, and then go in and kill them. I'm usually too impatient for it, but it works out well enough.

Pulsar/Polaris spamming them into a corner works well enough

^

Also, Shock or Stun bombs might be useful, but don't have one.
Freeze really doesn't work so well because they can range you still, I always lower my guard down when they're frozen and it costs me every time.

Devilites

When it comes to Devilites, I personally go on the aggressive and try to make the first move. Once I catch them in a combo, they're done for. Auto-target is your best friend when fighting Devilites with a rapier-type, and if you don't like the forced auto-target option I recommend you set a button for hold-toggle. Makes life so much easier. If you want to approach a Devilite head-on but you don't want an armchair to the face, whip out a Magnus and shoot them first to make them flinch. If you hit them dead-on, they're very unlikely to dodge the bullet, and you buy yourself some extra time to run up for the kill. Alternatively, Dark Briar Barrage and Radiant Sun Shards are excellent bombs for knocking them down from a distance. Nitronome is a decent substitute if you don't have the other two.

Callahan is very useful as it

Callahan is very useful as it stops devilites completely and they can't dodge it.

I go about them one of 2

I go about them one of 2 ways, possibly a 3rd but I have not tested my Gunner set against them yet.

Snarby set, Dread Skelly Shield (Max Shadow, I got lucky on the AH), and a Flourish
Mad Bomber set, Dread Skelly Shield, an Elite Boom Module, and DBB

I've really only got two

I've really only got two different ways about it.

The first is to bait them one at a time (if possible) with a Flourish or Magnus in hand. They loose a lot of their difficulty when alone.

My other strategy is to stack shadow defense using Heavenly Iron/Radiant Silvermail and go nuts with the Radiant Sun Shards. The pile of shadow defense helps me outlast and just tank around while leaving a trail of bombs. (I think this method is much more run)

Dark Briar Barrage + Antigua/Silversix/AP + Radiant Sun Shards.

Works marginally well on solo if ur good at dodging and shielding as well.

(RSS has an innate fiend dmg bonus. Dark Briar Barrage is pure pierce. The AP line is decent in solo.)

I actually find soloing

I actually find soloing devilites much easier than dealing with them in larger parties. When soloing, devilites will generally go down to 2 hits from a pierce sword (and as we well know, two hits from a pierce sword take virtually zero shield-down time).

The only trouble I usually have is when devilites get mixed up with T3 kat bullet hell.
