Windowed mode improvments, PLEASE!

most multi monitor users can agree that fullscreen gaming (when using one screen) can be a PITA.

usually youre stuck in the game, and cannot get to the other monitor to answer an instant message/do whatever else you might have going on the other monitor unless you press the win key or alt-tab, both of these minimize the game, and very often, when you try and get back to the game... it ends up being broken... even if not, its still a pain to have to use a key combo, then wait for your game to minimize, just to get your mouse to the other monitor

The nice workaround for this is windowed mode (when the game in question has set it up right), the advantage is, you can leave your game up, while doing stuff on the other screen/windows

the SK client is horrible in windowed mode:
borders clip some of the edges of the game off... and, if you use the native resolution of your monitor, it doesnt actually fit!
so i usually end up running in a smaller window, which i constantly find myself right clicking on my desktop/etc because the mouse isnt locked into the game.

id like to proposed that SK work more like L4D2 / minecraft, in regards to windowed mode:

keep the mouse bound in the game unless esc is pressed, then release the mouse, this is similar to how minecraft works, so i know it can be done, since theyre both java games.

borderless! - this is very cool in l4d2, your game can fill your entire monitor(looks like fullscreen) but is much better, you can simply press esc and get to your other one without the game minimizing/restoring when you swap back and forth(because its just in a borderless window)

neither one of these would be very hard to add, and could be options, so that the users who like things as they are now, wont have to suffer either.

win-win

oh, also a vsync for window mode too? i see a lot of tearing.

bump this thread with your comments/suggestions so we can get this done!

I dont like idea of cursor

I dont like idea of cursor being bound to window. Its mine cursor i can do whatever i want with it.

Having cursor bound will only make harder playing and doing other stuff on pc since you would have to press ESC every time you want to jump from spiral knights to your destop, it will be SO ANNOYING

+1 to the OP. I had to play

+1 to the OP. I had to play in windowed mode on my laptop for a while. Accidentally dragging the window down when I meant to drop a vial or clicking on the desktop while in battle was incredibly annoying, and it didn't help my knight's health at all. A way to keep things like that happening would be a good thing.

This option should be toggled with a key press (similar to hud-locking and the Q key), as opposed to requiring the player to either press the ESC key every time they want their mouse to leave the window or disable mouse locking entirely. This toggle should also default to off, so the mouse-locking feature is opt-in rather than opt-out.

hudlock could lock mouse, maybe

maybe hud lock could lock the mouse into the window too..
IMO the idea of the hud lock is to remove potential screw ups with your mouse, so it kinda makes sense.. but theres always the potential for someone not to like that though.

so just a simple checkbox somewhere in the options, or a modifier key + notification similar to the one for hudlock would be fine.

i could even be ok with skipping the borderless window as long as i had a way to lock the cursor into the SK client

you use full screen

you summed it up with your subject.. you use full screen.

this is a feature request/suggestion, not a bug report. it wont change YOUR game in the slightest, just give you another option, should you choose to try windowed mode.

now who do we need to bug to get this reviewed by someone who matters?

ah ... the amazing

ah ... the amazing coincidences solves only half of the problem, though, but at least it's instant relief :).
