See? This is basicaly in general discission and suggestions at the same time. Shadow copies should be timed.
Fix shadow copies!
He's talking about how you can create a thread, then move it to a different section but leave a link or 'shadow copy' in the original subforum.
By timed i guess that the copy should be deleted after X minutes.
That makes sense.
That would be nice, but I imagine it was to keep stragglers who don't know where the thread went informed.
Or have it that the shadow copy doesn't get bumped when a reply is posted
It would be rather nice if the shadow copy either didn't get bumped upon reply or if it just went poof after a certain amount of time... say 24 hours. A full day would be more then enough time for anybody that is interested in the topic to find out it's been moved to a different area.

Yeah, leaving shadow copy is a way to 'exploit' forum system and bypass forum guidelines.
There is a rule that you have to post in right sections. Right? Topics from wrong sections are usually moved by moderators BUT they leave shadow copies.
So, example you make a suggestion thread, you are selfish so you want so much attention that you can get. You make suggestion in FRONG forum, for example most viewed Baazar or General discussion on purpose. Ppl tell you to move that topic and GM comes and does that (or you even do it by yourself!) but they leave shadow copy. And then, every time someone post on your topic, it appears in TWO forum sections, allowing you to get more attention.
Same can go with topics that are meant to reach Baazar section but have shadowcopies in diffrent sections. Its like double advertising.
Shadowcopies should certainly be either removed or not being bumped upon new answer, or remain only for 24 hours after moving post.
" I imagine it was to keep stragglers who don't know where the thread went informed"
Exactaly. Though if a straggler dosen't check back in two days at least, they don't care enough anyway. I'd rather just get a message about it.

Perfecto~
I'm wondering if I'm getting so much support so quickly becuase this is also in general discussion or becuase this is just a good idea.
Wut? You mean timestamps or what?
