As the title says this is a new UV for all weapon types. The new UV is "critical hit". This UV has a chance to deal double the damage dealt from the weapon. Low would have a 5% chance, medium would have 10%, high would have 15%, and very high would have 20%.

The percentage of low and medium which are common aren't high otherwise this will kill monsters/bosses much faster making it less fun (ironic this UV is ment to kill monsters faster, but not too fast) . Although high and very high are more likely to happen, but these two are pretty rare to get so the chances should fit in.

Lets say a divine avenger hits 300 on a slag. When the UV takes effect it will deal 600 to the monster. Effectiveness and ineffectiveness don't change the amount of damage given like an undead dealt with more damage from elemental weapons and wolvers dealt with less damage from elemental damage.

This might come in handy for any hard challanges in the future.

Actually 20% critical on a Blitz Needle would make Vanaduke even more of a pin cushion.

Not really because with 20% it's a 1 out of 5 chance it will take effect. The Blitz shoots 16 bullets each dealing around 200 damage each meaning at least 3-4 bullets will have critical hit. So Vanaduke is hit with like 3,6k damage if all hit without the UV, but is hit with the UV Vanaduke will take 600-800 more dealing 4,200-4,4k.

Didn't think of this, but the needle line is the only one that won't receive full double damage. In other words, Blitz Needle will not deal full double damage if all bullets hit.

A critical that deals double damage is basically a random chance to kill a monster with 1 less swing. Not sooo worth it.
A total waste of space for UVs like ASI or CTR (unless you can aford doubles or triples, then ok, this is better than damage vs family :P)

Noooo.

Please no. Any mad-clicking/button mashing game (You can consider SK one of those games) with critical hits would be ridiculous. Can you imagine being One-Shot with EVERY DA/GF hit you take in LD?

Totally not cool at all.

Hmmm.

Hmmm I see what you mean, but critical hits aren't entirely a bad thing. It's almost like saying attack increase is not a good thing because it slightly raises damage. Although when critical hits are stacked with damage boosts it's proven to be of some use in combat.

Do you really believe that the developers are unfamiliar with the concept of critical hits and never considered including them in Spiral Knights? Really?

This is not much different from a universal damage bonus. The main effects of this would be sneaking a unviersal damage UV onto weapons, and raising the effective maximum of increased damage that you can have (since damage and crit presumably stack). The unreliability would also be annoying and bring the value down a bit, but that's secondary.

I'd be happy to see a wider variety of UVs in the game. This particular one would not rank very high on my wishlist.

this really ruins already made crit weapons

for example, i take my nightblade and go solo vs jk with a high UV for crits, since i already cause 132-168 crits, i will be doing, 1/5th of the time, which is a very high fraction for crits.) 264-336 crits, which would allow me to beat the royal jelly with about 30-40 attacks, that really would make JK runs boring, albeit the awesome amounts of loot you can gain........yeah........not on the top of my "to do list," if I had an acheron, i could beat the royal jelly in under 15 hits. That would be stupid, and boring, and I would ask for JK to be scrapped in the suggestions, half the suggestions i see are ones that, if all are accepted will make SK just another addicting hack 'n slash, that is a copy of the worst game ever made;WoW

actually JK is way too easy now anyways, ive beat him in 5 seconds.. literally..

BUT

i think all normal weapons should have chance to crit :/ it would make them not so obsolete

But no, no crit on special damage weapons. Giving it to most guns besides blitz would be a good buff, or adding a low innate crit to normal damage weapons as an incentive to use them more
