Hi all - I've decided to start playing again (Steam tricked me into it with that subliminal advertising...), and I am having trouble with damage output. I'm also trying to figure out what route to go in order to improve said damage. My current equips!

Any tips on where to go with this? I feel REALLY weak in groups...Thanks for the help!

Keep in mind that non-heated bombs are horribly slow and you'll have to live with them for a while.
You'll see everything become easier once they heat up to 10.

more charge reductions= drop bombs faster=more damage

So pushing through right now

So pushing through right now is my best bet? What about upgrades? I mean, I imagine I could upgrade more, too...But I'm not sure what I should be looking into. I'm also not sure how much has changed/been added since I last played months ago.

Upgrade your armour, 2* won't

Upgrade your armour, 2* won't be helping you with dropping more bombs or keeping you alive. Get to 3* if you're confident enough, 4* if you aren't. Hold the master blast, don't upgrade yet, as you seem to be group oriented players. You'll still need 3 kinds of shields, since there is no bomber specific shields. Snarby shield, ironmight, or aegis for piercing. Grey Owlite for elemental. The skelly shield from jelly gems for easily accessible shadow shield, eventually getting a blackened crest into Crest of Almire for shadow.

Upgrade the calibur to 3*, if you find that you need a utility sword as you bomb. Forget the trinket upgrades for now, as you need to build up your arsenal to utilize the bonuses effectively. Rss is more of a dps bomb, but used in solo/people who has played with you for a long time.

Grab a haze bomb, fiery/freezing, or capacitor if you don't mind doing Roar Twins. Then play some LD for electron vortex recipes. Don't like LD? Buy the graviton vortex recipes.

Thanks for the tips. I

Thanks for the tips. I upgraded to the Fused set and got an RSS. Why do you say upgrade based on how confident I am? I'm still learning the mechanics of the game, so if there's something I'm missing, I'd love to learn!

Yer a Bomber, right? So you like Explosions, Correct?

Get a Brandish. Those Bad Boys have a Charge Attack that does a Swing & Shoots Explosions. It does Great Damage & can Leave a Status if you get a Combuster/Glacius/Voltedge.

(It's also because the Calibur Lines are Often replaced with Type-Specific Weapons to Deal more Damage. Plus, the Charge Attack can Really Annoy Teammates.)

If you want to play it Safe, get the Volcanic Demo Line. This Set has High Charge Time Reduction, combined with your Lvl10 Bombs gives you an Ultra Charge Time Reduction. Keep in mind the Helmet gives you a Medium Charge Time Reduction Bonus while the Suit only gives you a Low.

If you want to do Mad Damage, go for the Mad Bomber, but ONLY if you're good at Dodging Attacks. This Set has Very High Bomb Damage & Charge Time Reduction at the Cost of having 4 Very High Negative Status Resistances. Get an elite boom Module & you'll Maximize your Bombs' Potentials.

If you have the Time(Or Crowns) get Mercurial Demo Suit to Boost up your Movement Speed to Dodge Enemies & Increase your Damage. Keep in mind, this Demo Suit does NOT have a Charge Time Reduction Bonus on it, so your Best Bet is to get 2 Elite Bomb Focus Modules to Cover for it.(Unless your Bombs have High Charge Time Reduction UVs on them.)

NEVER get the Bombastic Demo Line unless it's for Cosmetic Purposes. Unless ALL your Bombs have Very High Charge Time Reduction UVs, stay away from this Set. The Damage isn't Worth it. Charge Time Reduction is more Important.

Since you're Always going to go in Enemy Mobs to Deal more Damage, get a Plate Shield. The Massive Shield Bump Bonus is very Beneficial. If you don't like getting Hit by Gun Pups, get an Elemental Shield(Grey Owlite/Heater Shield) Most Recommend Grey Owlite.

I relatively recently

I relatively recently finished my Mad Bomber gear. My recommendation is get all your armors to 3*. Then start working on weapons. bombs really don't shine until 4* and 5*, in my opinion, so upgrade the sword first (whatever you choose). Once you do that, get armor to 4*. then get some bombs to 4* (you've already got blast, so that may be enough). then, get your 5* armor (read the elite bomber thread linked above to figure out what set you want). THEN go for bombs. I went shiver first. But really the 5* armor is where your boosts come in. I went from CTR med on every bomb (CTR very high on every level 10 heated bomb), to CTR and DAM very high on every bomb (CTR max on heated ones). Even stupid crappy bombs are neato now, with that.

Personally i love Radiant Sun Shards. I'm going to make Nitro and Dark Briar Barrage, but it's hard to see me preferring them, since they do in one blast what RSS does in one bolt, and I can hit enemies with multiple bolts... I also love the vortex line and the alchemy lines, they are way fun for supporting groups. If you're going to solo, focus on damage, maybe ice or fire to soften things up or control the field. but if you prefer groups, go with the alchemical bombs first: ice, shock, fire i'd say in that order. I did ice than fire, and have been wishing wishing WISHING I had made a voltaic tempest instead of an Ash of Agni first.
