I think adding a few of the more blander colours to the personal colours being sold at Vatel would be a nice knick knack addition.
I'm talking about white, black, grey, and brown.
Personally for me I can see a grey personal colour working really well with my current outfit (I imagine it would make me look like a gargoyle :D). Currently it's the only thing I desire in this already flawless game.
It's just a thought for the devs.

I believe somewhere was stated that White, Black, and a certain darkish red color are reserved for NPCs and Devs.
I think White used to be a color, but they removed it when there was a glitch that made Knights invisible or something.
Not sure about Brown though.

Personal colours DO have preview option.
Magenta is used for Developers, and White is used for NPCs.
But even then, WHY be limited thanks to NPCs? I say, let us have white and grey! And for black and brown, let it be a light shade of them. It'd sure be better than having blank faces, that's for sure.
I suppose that white would look spiffy, but with the darker colours you'd have the eyes blending in with the helmet...
Personally I want the personal colours to have a preview option. It makes me rage when I want a spiffy lavender and then end up with something that's a shade off magenta when I use it.
