So this morning I placed a bid on a snarbolax coat with shadow wings for 2.25 mil

Two problems I have:

1. I am still new to the game and I thought you could unbid your bids
2. Its a very bad deal, and someone else is selling the same coat but only for 950k and I hurt his feelings since I requested to buy it but forgot about it.
3. I now feel very bad that I cant cancel my bid and I cant buy the cheaper coat. I really need some help...

umm..........

the coat in one thing..............but with wings attached is another..........and those wings are worth a huge amount of money.
I cant say for sure if you really did get a bad deal, since i always craft and never buy already made items, but are you one of those paid players who dont know much about the game and just went straight for the best armor? sounds like you are.
play the game for at least a few weeks, get to know the game better before buying high-end stuff or else you'l get ripped off very easily.

right now one of these 3 things can happen:

1. GM helps you out (extremely unlikely)
2. Someone outbid you and you get your money back (best outcome)
3. You win the auction and get the coat+wing (which I dont know if its a rip off or not)

Derp!

Well, I am going to be an opposing viewpoint here.

1. When, in an auction situation, is one ever allowed to "unbid"? It's the nature of an auction. There should never be any "take backs" in an auction, in real life and every video game I have ever played.

2. If you are new, don't you think it would have been a good idea to buy a few cheap, little items on the Auction House to get a feel for how it works before you walked in and dropped your full load of 2.25 million, new player, crowns? In any situation in life and video games, I find it a poor idea to waltz into an unknown aspect (the Auction House in this situation) and make enormous decisions with little or no research.

3. How do you think the guy selling the Snarby coat feels ? Right now hes happy as a song bird seeing the bid you placed. How do you think he would feel if your bid magically vanished ? Is that fair to him?

4. Why should a GM hold your hand for your learning curve on the AH? Should we all contact the admins when we make a mistake buying, bidding, or crafting something?

5. The above may seem a bit harsh. However, this is all just my opinion. If you would rather not see my opinion, you should contact the GMs in-game, privately (the question mark button in your game HUD should do it). Post on here and we all get to discuss your woes and mistakes.

That is all

It's not a bad deal, an average deal at least. I assure you for that.

I know this is not the topic but, getting a 5 star armor (a snarby on top of that) and then being new :|............

You know what's good about being in a 2 star armor or a proto gear? People never expect anything from you.

2.25million cr. :::shakes

2.25million cr.

:::shakes head:::

Both Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin did similar things too. Peter became a fisherman after he bought a yacht.

Do any of you get that your being manipulated ?

2+ million crowns is like $90-$100. If a player is smart enough to have liquidated 35k in CE, they are smart enough to work the AH. This is buyers remorse for someone who got carried away in the moment and now wants to undo a bad decision.

It's a user's mistake, s/he shouldn't be allowed to cancel the bid

I don't necessarily agree

I don't necessarily agree with Xombie.. I have accidentally purchased things in the AH, meaning to hit "preview" instead... I think an un-buy or un-bid option would be awesome.

Why?

Let's look at a 3* recipe, costing 4000 cr at Basil.

Someone puts the recipe up for 5k cr bid, and the player bids on it.

The next day someone else puts up the same recipe for 4k cr bid, then the player cancels his previous bid and goes bid on that one.

You'd be ruining people's business if you put in an unbid button

Seriously?? Unbid option, you

Seriously?? Unbid option, you ppl are thinking before posting suggestions here? Not only it will ruin buissnes (what Metagenic said). Not only its completly irrational (what Xombie said) but will also lead to abuses.

You sell item, you place a bid, someone bids on it then you log in to alt and bid on it too so the prize rises. If someone else outbids your alt you are happy, if not, you cancel your bid and items sells but for lower price.

Even if there will be system implemented to avoid that, it will just annoy all those players who can control their movements, they see what they click, or they are basicaly thinking, once again majority of players would be hurt becouse of 'not very smart' minority who bid on auctions BUT REALLY THEY DONT WANT TO BUY IT, DOH, how should they know that BID button means BID? Its diffrent with BUY IT NOW, since it says you are buying it now (however some ppl have problems with understeanding that too).

Anyways if they will do something like: If bid is cancelled then item is marked again as 'no bids' and system dont remember previous bidders. Thing like that would lead to economic war between players. Selling expensive stuff cost money, aka listning fee, rich players could do things like: They see an item being sold on AH, they bid on it, then in last moment they just cancel bid incrasing chance of item not being sold.

Is it just me..

Or is anyone else wondering what a "new" player is doing walking round with over 2 mil crs? If you have played long enough/spent real money on the game to have that many crs then you should know how the AH works...

canceling bids is generally

canceling bids is generally never allowed unless it was in error and is obvious (My uncle once bid like $10k for a dresser because he typed to many 0's in e-bay). Since your bid isn't outside the range of normal price for those wings, there is no reason to allow a cancel. If people could easily cancel bids, then trolls would bid up the price of items and then cancel right before they finished. That would destroy the bidding market since it would remove competition and items wouldn't sell at their real market value.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I didn't QQ when I bought 4 green shards for 11kcr. I just called myself an idiot.
