I think there should be a better way to get energy then waiting for 24 hours.
Like if you kill 80 monsters then you get 10 energy back.
or kill a level boss and get 30 energy back.
that would be easier then waiting for 24 hours
better way to get energy
Or, you know, actually spending money for CE.
Really, what you're suggesting would be completely counter-productive to OOO's goal, to make money. This is a business after all.
Or:
- Reach T2
- Run RJP
- Use the cr gained to buy 100 CE
- Repeat
you mean
1. Reach T2
2. Run RJP
3. ???
4. Profit!!!!
Don't you mean
1. beg in haven
2. ???
3. plenty of ignores, and profit!!
that would actually work, because while they are begging in haven, their mist refills. The problem with this system is that it encourages begging, and we all know that when you beg, the snipes gang up on your character and rend him asunder.
I hear that snipes turn into ruthless helicopter piranhas when they encounter a particularly bad beggar.
Freemium games (like SK) usually have you trade money for time. In this case, as in many games, you're paying for the privilege of not having to wait around in order to play again. Putting any in-game method to earn fresh energy on a regular basis (Mist Tanks nonwithstanding, since they're one and done) WITHOUT paying for it would undermine the energy economy, and it's fragile enough as it is.
Now, if we could somehow power our Knight suits on complaints about energy, then we'd be at the Core already.
The big issue was when Steam came to Spiral Knights you could self sustain with crowns even on tier one because the price was around 3000crowns.
Now it's double that and you'll have to do a FSC run to break even or come out on top these days
you can break even or come out on top doing RJP even with price were over 7kcr per 100ce. Or you could do pretty much any T3 run with multiple arenas in S6 (there is one right now with 3 in S6) or FSC. A D28 arena will pay out 2kcr just on the last room + last prizes alone. Throw in some great T3 materials like Sun Silver, Shadow Steel, Volcanic Iron, and Silverweave and you can easily collect quite a few thousand crowns just from selling materials.
A full jelly run earns enough crowns to replace what you lost (at last cound about 6.2k cr). still leaves 30 mist, as well, so you can get a boost to RJP and do it again, and make another 3.5k on that mist.
Still plenty of profit.
Rjp itself, the 2 pre jk levels, do pay for themselves. Arenas on 14 and pre-basil simply increases profits, or pays for the cost of doing a full run. If there is no arenas in a Jk gate, chances are you lose money doing a full run. And a drawback of Rjp farming is that you need to do at least 2 runs, maybe 3, to be able to buy ce to continue running.
There's also the problem of doing JK himself. Is 3 tokens really worth 10ce.
TL;DR = we should get a small amount of energy back in the form of a reserve mist tank that slowly refills when we complete tiers in full.
Tokens are good for players without the rewards already (obviously) and would be worth more overall if the rewards came unbound. Now, if the oft-promised unbinding machine's costs were outweighted by the profitability of selling these token-only rewards on the AH, there would be more incentive to drag yourself through another boss fight and, indeed, grind the bosses as in days of yore. Until that happens, it might be worth it to simply save your 10 energy and bail before the boss fight.
To get this thread back on track, there could be an incentive to completing a full tier run which would induce players to complete the run in full, rather than only picking stratums with perceived and proven profitability in crowns (ex. RJP) or ditching at Basil / just before boss battles. In order to relate to the original poster's idea, maybe this could come in the form of a mist tank slowly charging up with energy. The mist tank would be unusable until fully charged and would cap at 100 (like all mist tanks) but would provide a sort of "cash back" incentive for players to complete their runs. I'm not sure what rate would be best for players and OOO alike - 5 reserve energy per tier? 10?
What do you guys think? Personally I like the idea of mist tanks as something I could accrue and save for a rainy day.
the current gate, sans arena, has an average result of 6k crowns, or just under, right now. The full run is 70 mist. CE is at 6k/100 CE. You aren't losing money.
It's interesting, if you look at the history of CE pricing throughout SK's history, you will notice that a Jelly run very nearly always gives enough to buy 100 ce.
I speak for most people when I say that they should make mist energy regenerate in around 6 minutes instead of 13.2 min.
You can get a full tank in about half the amount of time it takes to get a full tank of normally regenerated mist energy.
(Normal 22Hr) (Reduced 10Hr)
Easy ways to get energy.
Use a mist tank.(easy to get, use if you need it)
Buy some.(Price changes)
or bargain.(Example:2 Iron Lockbox for 100 Energy)

or like, if you do a profitable run on mist, and then buy CE with the crowns you just earned, and then do another run and continute to buy CE and basically run unlimited?
Or you know, the elevator pass.
