Picking up certain minerals changes the "difficulty dot" at the bottom right of your minimap?
Seems to happen more when I pick up Dark Matter-- it makes the difficulty go up.
When I pick up Valestone or Moonstone, sometimes my health goes up.

I was about to say that you probably mistook the next stage alternating for the difficulty increase,
but upon picking up a large dark matter just now, yeah, the little difficulty light blinked into existence. Went from no light to blue the moment I picked it up.
But, if I pick up any other crystal, even a small one of a different colour, it won't change back from blue.
Now I'm not sure if it's a glitch, if it's caused by any crystals of any size, or what other details I might be missing.. *shrug*
This intrigues me, especially since I have noticed the thing about health, but I thought that was sometimes a result of going deeper into the clockworks where my armor finally starts using its health bonuses (I don't always play in Tier 2 sometimes I walk from Tier 1 on down and many know that your stuff in Tier 1 starts with the lowest stats possible).
This was a bug. The mineral on your back was in fact being used in the danger level calculation.
Thanks for noticing!
This just in, Minerals are radioactive and long term exposure to them can drastically shorten your knights lifespan.
Reminds me of figuring out that when running through two tiers, the game doesn't quite recognize that you should have a different health bonus from your gear until you either re-equip in town, or pick up a vitapod/crystal in the dungeon. Probably just an instance of the game not calculating the change of tier until something specific happens.
Glitch? Though to be honest I do wonder sometimes if carrying a certain material would give you a passive bonus while carrying the gem. This is simply a stray thought I had. Ill definitely pay attention next time I pick up a gem.
