Its not a ping problem...I checked it with other callahan user in TH. Compared to his callahans bullet travel speed...well my bullets r 30% slower. Is that a craft date issue? Later crafted Callahans got slower bullets? Wtf even magnus bullets travel faster than mine shooted from callahan. I tried to equip ASI gear...still slow. Does any1 hav same problem with it?
Why my Callahan bullets travel so slow?
Is it fully heated? I'm not sure if that would have an effect but it could.
ASI shortens the amount of time it takes to shoot one bullet after another. The Magnus line guns have bullets that are fast enough to hit monsters before they can dodge. Compared to Alchemers, the Magnus line has faster bullets but slower attack speed.
At 5 stars, Callahan bullets travel a shorter distance than other guns in the Magnus line. This is to offset the blast radius of Callahan bullets when they hit a monster. This blast radius allows you to simultaneously hit several monsters that are grouped closely together.
This happens with every gun except pulsar/catalyzer. I am pretty sure it is the game's natural lag that causes this. When someone else shoots in real time, it takes about 1 second or so for it to register on your computer. To make up for it, the game naturally makes the bullets speed up so they hit at about the same time.
A similar issue pops up when you shield RIGHT before you are about to take damage. You still take damage, even though it appeared you had your shield up a fraction of a second first. It's just the game's way of synchronizing all the characters in correspondence with the servers.
The same bullet speed effect can be seen in alchemers, blaster series, Antigua (definitely), and Magnus. I am not sure about the autogun, but I believe the natural lag affects these guns as well.
If you didn't understand my poorly explained description of the natural lag, then try this.
Put two computers side-by-side (or pull up two spiral knights windows simultaneously). Log in to different characters on each; and both go to the training hall or a random depth. Click on the first window, and fire the character's gun. On the first window, it will appear far slower then on the second window. There will be about a 1 second delay between when you fire on the first window, and the animation on the second. However, the second will appear to fire much faster. (observing the same character in each window).
Hope I helped a little. Trust me, on their screen, your friend is firing at the same speed at which you are on your screen.
@Demonicsothe.
-"As far as we know, asi does not affect bullet speed. If it does, it is a low amount. It really goes down to lag/ping/fps or whatever it is that determines your performance."
-YES i know it pal... U think im stupid? I asked people about my bullet speed. They say " Yes your bullets are waaaay slower." Do they see the game through MY videocard? Lololo
-"Almost everyone says their own guns have slower bullets when compared to others. Thus, I am inclined to believe that this is a human error, "his is better than mine why can't I have it" error."
-Just NO. U R WRONG about me. Im not a "human error " u demn offender lol
@Warlordx
-Yes its fully heated ( altrhough that doesnt matter at all. Heat only reduce CTR and increase dmg)
@Seiran
-Yes, maybe you right about that...Wonder if that can be fixed without 000 help. Maybe recraft will fix da problem.
@Alchemystic
Thanx Cap.
@Purgion
-No. Its not about comp and ping. If others can see that my bullets r slower...That mean tey REALLy slow. Other weapons r fine (Checked that with alot of gunz like alchemers and blitz. That happen only with my Callahan)
But anyway thanx for responding ppl.
It's a clientside thing. Don't worry about it, you still have the same DPS.
Why did I mention asi? Because you said you put on asi armour to test it. I merely confirmed what you found.
The sheep effect. One person believes that the big round thing flying around is an UFO, and then the media goes into a frenzy thinking it is a ufo flying around. Cue conspiracy theories.
What are you suggesting, that if something isn't a ping/fps/whatever computer specs you have, and yet you are willing to believe it is client side issue. Does it affect your gameplay? Or is it some sort of OOO conspiracy to do... something?
Actually, Purgion is dead on. Other people's Magnus and Callahans will always look faster. Anyone saying yours is slower is trolling
Yeah, it doesn't seem to be lag or ping/latency somehow, i tested it in a solo training hall, certainly looks like it's client sided. Not only the magnus line, antigua lines etc. and most projectiles will seem that way, like the ones in snarble/spur charge attacks.
Purgion is right. I tried putting two computers together. I moved a character on one computer and it take 0.5 seconds for the other computer to see that the character I moved is moving
Almost everyone says their own guns have slower bullets when compared to others. Thus, I am inclined to believe that this is a human error, "his is better than mine why can't I have it" error.
As far as we know, asi does not affect bullet speed. If it does, it is a low amount. It really goes down to lag/ping/fps or whatever it is that determines your performance.
