We Should have mounts like steeds, or dragons, or bears or something that boosts our walking speed perhaps even enhance attacking speed or etc.
What's the point of being a knight without a trusty steed?
False Alarm, Guys. It's just another " I want a Pet" Thread.
At the current rate OOO is developing stuff, I'm going to have to say that I do not approve of this idea.
Not to mention that I Sentinel-Zx pretty much summed up my thoughts as well, although mercurial armor could give med speed instead of low...
I would not mind steeds. It's actually a good idea. Maybe the three rings could make a jelly one, a wolver (different styles too like accessories) ,a mecha one too. Possibly using the bosses. What a great idea. Ser gut!!!

Mounts would not be beneficial at all. Nope, nope not at all boss.
Wanna know why? Okay, fine...here:
1) Enemies are typically not far from each other in the CW, and since you can't attack on a mount (presumably, since you probably got this idea from WoW), there'd be no point in moving faster except for the occasional treasure boxes you left behind.
2) Mercurial Demo Suit (I say demo because nobody really uses the normal Mercurial set) would become quite useless...it's SL gear, it doesn't need to become obsolete.
3) There aren't even any horses in this game...so saying a "Steed" is your word for "Mount", which is not what the word "Steed" traditionally means. Wolvers are thus far un-tamable, jellies wouldn't make much sense, and Mechas, well...Mecha Knights would be hard to err...ride on.
There ya go, pops. Not a good idea man, and use the search bar next time.

I use the normal mercurial armor all the time, Severage.
I use it because I love speed bonuses, and when merc demo came out, I felt cheated... all of the sudden, my armor was just another outclassed piece of crap.
However, I'd rather not have 2 pieces of the what is essentially the same item (movement+shock), so I've been putting off making merc demo.
Jellys can change form, wolvers would take a while to tame, and mecha knights can be rebuilt. But if all you don't like is the termanolgy then fix it. Just say our rides or pets(not as cool). Besides when you charge weapons it makes you really slow(pending on weapon) and you could use a speed boost, or in arena when you are running in circles around the healers circles you could jump in and out after striking them down. You. can come up with many upgrades and acessories for them. It'd be fun.

P.S. How do I add a picture to my profile.
Um, yes, well, what I mean is that most people either only use it as a costume or just get Mercurial Demo...the stats on it are outclassed by many other sets of armor.
@J-K-S
You still haven't commented on how useless (Or less effective) it'd make Mercurial sets...
"Besides when you charge weapons it makes you really slow(pending on weapon) and you could use a speed boost, or in arena when you are running in circles around the healers circles you could jump in and out after striking them down."
So, you want to encourage people running around with their weapons charged 24/7, gunning enemies down throughout arenas without a care in the world about enemies catching up to them, total LD, and make PvE easier?
No, I'm not a fan of that.
PS: "Forum Preferences", the link near the top of your page, by the search bar.

Oooh... a question about how to add a profile picture just after talking about the search bar.
"So, you want to encourage people running around with their weapons charged 24/7, gunning enemies down throughout arenas without a care in the world about enemies catching up to them, total LD, and make PvE easier?"
Completely wrong. I do not support that unless it is one or two people and also weapons charged full time does help if you have a speed charge reduction module. And the mercurial armour/helm is good and I'm working on getting it. So I see how you think we don't need steeds and are for upgrading mercurial .
We had spaceships and pods. Those were our 'steeds'
If you insist, imagine we had horses on the ship but no one survived the crash.
While I'd love to travel around in the clockworks on some sort of mechanical mount (not an animal like a spider mech) racing passed all the other knights and being able to slash away at everything I must say in the grand scheme of things a mount would be a pretty useless edition to spiral knights. We don't really require any to get around since everything is built to be instant access, but at the same time it would just saturate and lessen the game.
10/10
why would I need mounts in an arcade-style beat-em-up
seriously? i mean really? racing is cool, but this useless, how would an godd$%m horse help at all? you don't need fast movement, (unless you are a gunslinger.) you can get plenty of ctr from trinkets, and well, a lot of people have armor that gives attack bonuses and speed bonuses, this would be a useless pet, at least in CC animal orbs have a purpose.
Steeds should at least be in a King Krogmo Coluseum game.
How this, you get a robot suit you can power up and ride in the clockworks on certain levels. Like the magiteck armor from FF III(USA)
To balance it, you can't defend and it costs 10 energy to use.
I understand shades of gray... but srsly? I'll break it down real quick and simple-like.
Were mounts to be added into the game under the ideas thus far explained:
Merc suits of any form become obsolete (the speed bonus is useless with a mount able to just produce similar if not better effects)
SK becomes more about cruelty to it's inhabitants (after all your mount will have to fight by your side like a pokemon, since if they won't people will QQ)
People speed through the CW even more, because they're going to choose a mount that will either do the most damage or be the fastest.
Energy and crown sink from the dark side of Mercury, which means we're extremely likely to experience inflation with each new release on mounts.
Lag monster becomes ever larger to compensate for the fact that you in all essence have a pet.
Mounts don't seem like the spiral knights way. Steeds, thats something right for a knight, but not really for a spiral knight. Dragons and bears? That can't happen. Dragons haven't been created into the game so it's highly unlikely that they would be mounts plus they are massive even for a small one. Mounts go back to midieval times and Spiral Knights is based on a combo of past and future (having to go into combat with a shield and sword and using technology).
I think I'm going off topic, but what I'm trying to say is that this is not a game that would have stuff like that. Nice try though.
