Nothing new, no fun, just another artificial reward system.

There seems to be close to no real new "content", mostly just another artificial rewarding system added. Still the same old levels without any additions worth mentioning. Only now you're adding some more "sugar" to the "cr+heat-mix", to make it more "addictive".

Yes, the story & the atmosphere might be nice... That would have made the game more fun from the beginning and I'm sure new players will like it a lot... but I think for most players it's just too late for something like that now. It might do the job for a little while. But I hope you're working on new fun things to do. Not just new "useless" rewards to get for doing the same old stuff over and over again.

Maybe wait out with

Maybe wait out with complaints for when the system actually goes live on the live server? You (and neither me) still don't know what they might have in "shop" for us, from what i've read the current missions are only a part of what will be available after the release.

It's called "feedback" :P

It's called "feedback" :P Maybe wait with complaining about me complaining until the system goes live and I actually start whining in a really annoying and possibly trollish way :3

Anyway, In think It's plain to see, that a lot of work has been put into thinks that make players feel more rewarded. So I'm saying: As far as I can see by now, it doesn't look like it's going to be working for me. I'm not interested in collecting "rank point" and not interested in reading the stories - unless the missions are really fun to actually play (and partly new) ... so if it came to me: put more work into actual map design & things like that. The few new rooms / map components that are available for testing are mostly boring to play... the one with the "wisps" and "trojan statues" is sort of neat, but there could be a lot more like that. There are still tons of unused possibilities just with clever map design/layout... I'd love to see some more of those make it into the game.

Hmm

No, it is true. There isn't a lot here for experienced players, at all. The missions offer an introduction to the game and then only go through T2. Since the game doesn't stop there, one has to assume that this is just the top of the iceberg. I'm sure when it hits the live servers (or shortly there after) it'll address the needs of a much broader audience, including us.

What I really like about the mission system is that it offers a mechanism for OOO to expand the game. There are only so many strata where you can stuff a boss. (Look at how Shadow Lairs were shoe-horned into the game...) With the missions system and the missions interface they can make more content and have the opportunity to vary the content too.

Edit - a really important note that was kind of glazed over... "I'm sure new players will like it a lot" - this is so cruicially important to the survival and production of a game. Without new players having a good experience there won't be a game for the rest of us to play. If the missions system improves the retention rate then it'll benefit us all.

I liked the missions at first...

I will admit the missions are great for new players. I do see one thing i dont like, the mission where we need to kill jelly king enough to get a antigua. So we turn it in and it does not stay in our arensal. I dont like that we have to grind to get boss items when most of us already have argent peacemakers or sentenza's. Once this goes to the main server we will waste hours trying to kill jelly king. Yes we can kill him fast with a few hits with a fang of vog or gran fasut, but where is the challenge? I honestly do not want to be treated like a tier 2 player when I am all 5*

The missions give context to our actions. Before, it was just playing to get better gear. Everything was driven by gameplay with damn near no story. Writing them off because they don't introduce new gameplay is foolish at best. While some games can stand on their own with great gameplay, to make a truly awesome game, it must hold up in the story department too. OOO is now getting to that part. Hell, knowing that they'd get to that part is the only reason I stuck around.

As someone who doesn't skip cutscenes and actually likes reading novels, this is a great addition, and I can't wait to tear through the T3 missions.

Also, a bit of a tangent. OOO didn't show us the Unknown Passage or Sanctuary when the SL were on test servers. It's entirely possible they're withholding the really good stuff for the release and only letting us test barebone mechanics.

@Shortnskinny
I too am a bit disappointed in this. I just can't wait for the mission where we have to turn in a FoV or DA. :|

I'd rather they stick to 2-3* craftables. It would help give some purpose to all the un-UV'd ragecrafted gear.

Actually

I did like learning about the story from the limited amount presented earlier, but I agree that more of it isn't a bad thing. The knight's graveyard was actually pretty somber.
Also, this can definitely be used as a springboard for further content later in the narrative once it's ready. It's the sort of thing they should add now so they can modify and expand on it later easily.

@Wriggle I hope they at

@Wriggle

I hope they at least give us the mission where we may face a member of the Crimson Order to test. I just want to see what the design is. I was thinking of an art-related thing to do for Spiral and I'd like to see if the Crimson Order have a certain look to them owo

Wait, found him in the Spiral

Wait, found him in the Spiral Spy directory.

Would drawing things from the test server count as spoilers? I know they don't really want spoilers placed on the forums. Though depending on how I do this it may be awhile before drawing stuff like this.

Other feedback: Loving the new music! <3
