Is this planned? Is this gonna happen? Or are we all gonna have to get Avengers and look exactly the same in order to do tier 3 runs?
Some actual gear balance.
"Also, as for looking exactly the same? That's what the costume slot is for. Go find an armor you like the look of, craft it and put it on as a costume."
Seriously, this. 90% of my crafting goes into cosmetic gear.
Also, you're not too good of a player to use the same weapon as everyone else. It's fun to use, it's effective, and you will never be too good of a player or person to be too cool to use what everyone else is using. Every MMO in the world has "best" gear.
And even then, the "best" gear for this game is seriously circumstantial. Your Vog Cub isn't going to hold up in an area where everything's smashing you for piercing or shadow damage.
I don't find the Avenger very fun, Hazel. I like the Hunting Blade the best.
The Hunting Blade is very good in Beast stratums. How is that unbalanced?
"Best" gear is based on the scenario.
You won't use the avenger on an enemy immune or resistant against the damage it does.
This is what balancing is, making each weapon have a purpose, it is strong against guys, and weak against others.
Saying that it is unbalanced because everyone is using what is best for a certain area shows that you know nothing of which you speak of.
Why would I use a fire sword on a fire element monster? I'd use it against frost enemies, but only a lazy or dense person would think otherwise.
I currently use a Valiance, since it technically is the definition of balanced, it is good against everything, but doesn't excel at killing anything better than the other.
If I used a Ash of Agni bomb, it will kill enemies weak against fire extremely well, but then there are the enemies who would shrug off the damage.
It is a trade off in which you kill enemies better in exchange for not doing so well against others.
Very simple concept, makes every weapon unique and with a purpose for what you are planning to go against.
...then there isn't any real equipment balance. Sure, you can say 'this sword of gelatin does remarkable damage against hungry children', but it isn't balance if you never encounter them late-game...because then the sword is functionally useless.
Likewise, if what people are doing in T2 are repeatedly jelly runs, Vile Striker and Faust are going to be comparatively OP at that tier, as they're specialized against it. It doesn't matter that there are other floors people COULD be running; it matters that most people will be running Jelly, and therefore will be equipped to run Jelly (and will all fall into the same two-weapon set).
level, depth and stratum balance.
we know that people pick weapons for the levels they run the most, and we know that the levels most people run are firestorm and JK. this is because they are the most profitable.
maybe we should just ask that the Game Producers simply make other levels more interesting, or profitable to play in? you know, make a T2 undead level, that provides as much heat and or crowns as a similar depth Jelly Run level? does that make sense?
I think there will be more bosses to fight, and a palace for each of these bosses.. When that comes.. there will be more interesting to get more sets of equipment.
BUT, i would like to se more weapons and armors that are specialized on the same thing, but slightly different from eachother.
Like now, there are ONE prefered sword for Vanadukke.. why not have 5 or maybe more swords that are good agains him, and his palace.
This is an artifact of the only major Tier 3 boss being Vanaduke and the only major Tier 3 area being Firestorm Citadel, where the Avenger is above and beyond the best weapon to choose. In the same sense that people who run Jelly King often will use Faust and Vile Striker often.
There's balance, the problem is that there's not a lot of content that will make you interested in the rest of the weapons... yet.
Also, as for looking exactly the same? That's what the costume slot is for. Go find an armor you like the look of, craft it and put it on as a costume.
