Does a Maximum ASI make a noticeable difference over a Medium ASI? I was testing out my Gran Faust in the Training Hall, with Vog Cub Coat and Swiftstrike Buckler, yet I swear I couldn't really notice a large boost over the same setup without a Swiftstrike.

In my opinion, yes it does.

In my opinion, yes it does. You can shield much quicker after attacking (especially for the second strike).

But there isn't so much of a difference between Very High and Max ASI. I mean, even being used to slow swords, I barely notice the difference and don't really need it.

data

The guild Lancer Knightz has data on the combos per minute of various swords at various levels of ASI. According to these data, each level of ASI has about a 3.5% effect. On the fastest swords (DVS, WHB) there may be a cap, but this may be an artifact of the imperfect testing procedure.

I would say huge difference

I would say the difference is huge. It is more noticable once you get used to having ASI in the clockworks then try to play without it then just swinging around in the ATH. I notice it makes a big difference in 3 swing swords as well. The time from swing to shield is greatly reduced & I find I get hit far less if I have ASI. I really hate to play with less then Medium, VH is great, & I feel like a blinder with Max. That said I would not go for Max ASI at the expense of DMG+; given the choice between say ASI 6 / DMG+ 0 and ASI 4 / DMG+ 2, I would take the later (unless I was doing a solo run).

Wait I just noticed you are

Wait I just noticed you are talking about Vog + SS. Do you mean a Vog set or just one piece of Vog?

Vog Cap = ASI Med (2)
Vog Coat = ASI Med (2)
SS = ASI High (3)

1 piece of Vog + SS = ASI Ultra (5)
Vog Set + SS = ASI Max (6, with 1 extra point wasted)

At any rate my point is you will notice when you get used to ASI then find yourself without it. I find that I can play much more aggressively (without taking damage) if I have 4-6 points of ASI.

ASI is really hard to notice

ASI is really hard to notice at first. It's something that you have to play with for a while before you get a feel for how useful it is, and when it's useful.

The thing is, it doesn't really make your knight's actions feel fast, rather it makes everything else you're fighting against seem slow.

ASI is (almost) always important

If you tend to push your offensive limits while in PvE, then going from ASI:med to ASI:max makes a tremendous difference on heavy swords. I used to use primarily DA/GF, and I always went for ASI:vhigh at the minimum. The more ASI you have, the faster you can recover from all swings, and the more often you will win the race to smack something in the face before it smacks you. I don't do much PvP in T3, but ASI is quite important there as well, although not nearly as important as knowing the proper style for wielding a heavy sword.

On fast swords like the Brandish and Flourish lines, it still makes a difference, but is not nearly as noticeable. If you use standard attacks, ASI:vhigh is desirable no matter what sword you wield. If you tend to spam charge attacks (as I do with Voltedge and Acheron), then maxing damage and CTR is more useful.

If you have one of each of

If you have one of each of the three 5* sword trinkets, a swiftstike, a BTS and all the wolver lines you can make offensive sets for all damage types that will have at least very high for CTR, ASI and damage (Ultra for ASI if your gearing for shadow or piercing) and that is without any UVs. So the question is why go without?

Yes

I feel a huge difference between my Acheron with ASI high vs my Glacius with no ASI. It's even more noticeable when I'm running around with the Swiftstrike. The ASI Maxiumum feels much.... well quicker than the ASI high. Admittedly, it's less noticeable when the two weapons are being used side-by-side (For me they are almost always side-by-side except in FSC, so I notice it a lot).
