So after the recent patch, the game gives an error saying that it isnt compatible with certain Windows elements, so the color scheme is switched to Windows 7 Basic. The game then freezes up on the character select screen and I cant do anything. This just started happening

Im running on:

Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel i5 processor
4 GB of RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 310M

Also I use Steam to log on

Someone help me so I can play in peace!

Can you try to disable everything non-essential, or start windows in safe mode so it disables most things, then try to run the game?

If it still gives you that problem with no background elements interfering, then....sorry.

What exactly do you have on

What exactly do you have on your desktop in terms of sidebar applications and other background programs? Saying certain "Windows elements" are interfering with the game and them not listing what elements you have installed is a bit like saying your colander doesn't float because one of the holes is unplugged.

I don't know what elements I

I don't know what elements I have though because the only one I know of is Windows Aero which shuts off every time I run the game >.>

And now Java is broken again and the game is stuck frozen in the new ready room. It says that the game has stopped responding every other second, but never actually crashes and gives a error message.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing everything and, no surprise, still the same horrible problem.

I don't know what background programs are open, or even why they are. I don't know what a sidebar application is.

I'm pretty sure Aero does not

I'm pretty sure Aero does not turn off when you run the game. Just try using windows button + tab. If it works it's still on.
The sidebar is the thing on your desktop where you can put "widgets" like the calendar and clock.

It looks like we both have

It looks like we both have the same problem, and I'm using Vista, so I don't think the problem has as much to do with the OS as you'd think.

Currently trying to see if updating Java might help (though my java probably doesn't need updating).

Edit:
So, I checked my Java... nothing out of the ordinary. Latest update.
Defragmented drive... not really needed...

...In the end, I decided to try starting the client from the website, and I was finally able to log in successfully... but, now I can't move. Literally. And I have major texture issues.

Maybe try starting the game from the webpage and see if the same happens?

Edit again:
So, after doing that, I decided to uninstall and reinstall Spiral Knights on my computer completely.
Issue seems fixed. I also had an issue with textures not loading, and that's fixed as well. So, I guess, just, uninstall and reinstall. Heh.
