Isnt that the idea? to let people check if they are depositing the right minerals or see how far the gate is into X status to be able to change it or leave it and focus on another.
Yes, that idea was great in theory.
Do you think it's working? People would need to...:
1) Be interested in checking if they are depositing the right minerals.
2) Know what the "right" minerals are
3) Finally actually deposit the "right" minerals
and
4) That would need to lead to a selection of gates that are "interesting"
There's multiple things wrong with every single one of those points, I'm not sure it even makes sense discussing about it. It's just so... extremely... far away from... anything that could actually work.
Also I'm not sure if it's worth it thinking about whether the method work while you just have to look at the result / gates. Who do you think prefers having the choice between
a) Jelly
b) Jelly
c) Jelly
over p.e. having the choice between:
a) Jelly
b) not jelly
c) neither jelly nor [b]

I also like being able to see that I will have jelly, as opposed to fiend or shock or whatever, because I don't really know of people that actually LIKE Greaver spam. So yeah, -1 if I've interpreted your intentions correctly. I don't understand what you're actually after, other than making people unable to see what gates are being generated. (I might agree with you if your intentions were actually clearer.)

After reading #3 post it comes only to one thing:
You are too lazy, to read and learn basics of gate construction then you want to remove it and spoil fun for others. Way to go Mr. Only me matters.
Works fine to me. If someone wants to try to construct a gate they can. Also as Aureate said i would like to know what the gate will be. Plus it's good for generating some extra crowns if you don't have enough to afford the elevator fee or if your just a few crowns short for crafting something.
Besides the devs have better things to do than choosing some random assortment of levels every two days.
I think were already too far into this game to screw almost the leading concept...

No offence but are you saying it's too difficult for you to learn gate recipes or is it depositing interface too complicated for you?
I'm sure Wegner gives some tutorial about it, when you reach Haven for the first time, but anyway here's Wiki page, when you can learn about Gate Construction - I'm sure you won't find it too difficult.

The gates should just be more diverse. Most of the time, we either have 3 shock T3 + 1 poison... or 2 shock undead, 2 poison undead... yes, "3 jelly + beast fsc" might be slightly better because we didn't have that for a while... but some more themes to choose from would be better. For players that have been here a while, the game is boring enough without half of the existing content being unavailable for days or even weeks.

No, I say "NOONE CARES". Also, what is "right" depends on what you want in the gate or in most cases just: what you get most cr for. Not enough players do bother. They never will. It's not working, because noone is participating. Its no fun, it makes no sense. Also there are enough other reasons why it can't work (like p.E.: "Even if there was 100% participation: Everyone wants something else. So we'd all end up not being able to get what we want."), can you really not see that to current system is absolutely useless?
Anything to %^#* those poison and shock stratums from Tier 3 is a good thing in my book.
I think the main problem with mineral deposits is that most people don't care about what goes in as long as they get the most money out of it - so they auto-sell. Correct me if I'm wrong, but auto-selling essentially puts more minerals into lesser deposits (like if a stratum has low levels of luminite, more luminite goes into that one) because those deposits are worth more money. This means that if the stratum isn't randomized already, it will likely become random because one of those lesser deposits is going to be the anti-mineral of the chosen stratum type.
TL;DR: Strata will more likely be random than not.
However, if the system were perhaps reversed (meaning that the highest deposits generate the most money), people might be a little more conscientious about where they put their minerals. For example, people might figure out that although they get less money by depositing luminite into a fiend stratum, they will make that fiend stratum nicely disappear.
Just my 2 cents.
But the semirandomness is fun.
