Attack Speed Hard Cap Limit?
On the wiki, it states: "Attack speed increase value for swords has a hard cap, which mostly affects the cutter/spur line."
Presumably, that cap, at least for cutter/spur, is limited at less than six "points", otherwise it wouldn't warrant a specific mention. Has anybody determined what that cap is?
The "hard cap" is Maximum bonus.
Don't they all cap at maximum? Makes it kind of silly to say that it mostly affects the cutter/spurs then.

I guess it just implies that the effect won't be very noticeable after a point, and the increases are exponentially reduced.
i.e.
Low: 1 second
Medium: 1.5
High: 1.65
Very High: 1.72
Ultra: 1.76
Maximum: 1.777
Of course, it wouldn't be that horrible.
Yes, all speed bonuses (namely, the only one) caps at Maximum.
Just like every bonus in the game.
Everyone keeps asking anyway because of wording on the wiki or something, iunno.
I remember someone doing speed trials on handguns a while back, to determine the actual usefulness of the gunslinger set speed bonuses. Has anyone done this with swords? Testing technique would go something like this...
- Each test consists of hitting a timer for 60 seconds and just swinging with the base combo as fast as you can until time runs out, counting total numbers of swings. It's not necessarily the best for comparing different blade types, as full combos aren't what you'd be swinging much of the time, but it should indicate something about the usefulness of attack speed.
- For each sword type, test at the 0, 5, and 6 level. 0 is no speed boosts. 6 is full vog cub plus swiftstrike (7, but max of 6), 5 is swiftstrike plus one piece of vog cub. If 5 and 6 are the same for a given sword type, try with 4, then 3, then 2, to find the point at which the speed boost has an effect.
It would give us a somewhat better idea of what the benefit really is, and either nail down where the breakpoint is for various blades, or be proof that the stuff on the wiki is wrong so that it can be fixed and not confuse any more poor newbies. If there are any blade types that max out at 5 or below (Magnus is quite convinced that there are not, and this is reasonably strong evidence (He's Magnus, after all.), but not as strong as an actual experiment) then that would let people know that it might be appropriate to mix in some skolver, or possibly swap the swiftstrike for something a bit more durable. Certainly, having an idea of which blades are more or less dependent on speed boosts would be handy.
I'd do it myself, but I won't be getting my Vog Cub for a long, long time, and "Calibur with and without swiftstrike" just doesn't have quite the same depth. Mind you, if it hasn't been done by the time I do get my Vog Cub, i *will* do it myself.
So a Vog hat/cap with a UV DA (atk spd med) would reach the cap?
I've got a Dread Venom Striker with a medium bonus (+2). There's a noticeable difference when I use a Swiftstrike Buckler (+3, total +5). So if there is a cap it's somewhere between +3 and +5. I'll probably cave and finish my Vog set sometime in the next week as I am getting burned out trying to craft UVs so I'll let you know what I can observe then if someone doesn't beat me to it.
Of note, on the Speed bar meter it only takes a medium UV to hit 10 bars. Not sure if that's worth anything.
